Iowa Pacific E8s lead the CRSA 2014 Excursion!

100 Subscriber Special! On May 7th, 2014 from Chicago Union Station to Janesville, WI, a Chicago Railroad Superintendents Association (CRSA) Excursion took place on the Metra/CP C&M; subdivision, Metra/CP Fox Lake Sub, and Wisconsin & Southern Fox Lake sub. The train was lead by 2 Ex Chicago & Northwestern EMD E8 diesels, now Iowa Pacific (SLRG) 515 and 518, with a Illinois Central inspired paint scheme, with more Illinois Central paint passenger cars. Its not like any excursion these days has a train all in the same paint scheme like it would have been like over 50 years ago. I was at Lake Forest, IL, which is just South of Rondout in the video. I would have been at Rondout, IL, but since I had a good friend giving me updates on the location of where the train was, (he was riding it) in the morning he said they stopped at Lake Forest going out for some people. Thinking that it was probably going to stop again coming in, me and another new friend that I met at Rondout just that afternoon went to Lake Forest hoping it would stop and get some action. And indeed we did! The CP freight train that passed about 15 minutes before the excursion came, was CP SD60 leading 6242 (Ex Soo Line 6042), CP ES44AC 8753, and CP SD90/43mac 9142! Just so everyone knows, Canadian Pacific just loves to keep the SD90s out of Chicago, and pretty much the US, so on a very rare occasion, SD90s make it to Chicago, and this was one unexpected time one came! This train was headed to St. Paul, MN, where the SD90 was most likely going back to Canada. I have 127 subscribers now, I hit 100 subbers on May 13th, 5 days after the excursion and I'm a little late. (heavy sarcasm) I know I've been needing to upload this catch, and since it was really special, plus an epic day, it had to be the video for the all my subbers. The 200 subscriber video will be more on time, when of course I get 200 subbers! ;) As for the camcorders, which there was a note I put in the video, I had 2 camcorders and 2 tripods that day, and it was a really long day as I was railfanning for 10 solid hours. I recently got a program, Sony Vegas Studio which is a REALLY advanced video editing program, and it takes a bit of time to learn, even for me I'm having a tough time learning all the buttons and what does what. One reason the 100 subber special here is late is because I was trying to learn the program to make it look more presentable. That proved to difficult for matters of time, so I used Movie Maker but with the videos in order, but playing over again in time while I was there railfanning. Although there was 2 different recordings taken at the same time, from different angles, there was no choice but to let the videos play separately for the final video here on Youtube. So for example, one video is the excursion taking off coming at the camera, the other is of it going away, and they are taken at the same time, so they are viewed one after the other since only one video file could be viewed/ edited at a time. The photos at the end are some others I quickly took, plus one which is now my new Youtube profile pic, of me on Burlington Northern 5383, a GE U30C built in 1974 for the BN, now owned by Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL. Well, its the locomotive that my channel is named after, Railroadfan "5383" and its because of that epic cab ride on BN 5383 for Diesel Days 2011, during the pass-in-review. This 100 subber special took me somewhere over 5 hours to make, an hour of rendering the video after editing, then another 5 plus hours of uploading, then another hour of typing this description, tags, and more.
