Our Story

Since 2008, the McAfee SECURE service has consistently forged new ways of addressing the security concerns of online consumers. In 2013, McAfee teamed up with TrustedSite (formerly PathDefender) to operate and enhance the service for the next generation of web users. Today, by meeting exacting security standards, certified sites can display our system of trustmarks to ease their customers' security concerns and thereby increase their website conversions.

With the rise in online data breaches and hundreds of thousands of new and unknown sites joining the Internet every day, a climate of fear has developed among Internet users. Our mission is to help build back trust between website owners and visitors, ultimately helping safe sites sell more.

Meet the team

Tim Dowling - Chief Executive Officer
Tim started his career coding and selling software for the first IBM PC. He went on to work for Intel in product management and marketing, and then found himself in internet security, building the first web-oriented business unit for McAfee. At McAfee, Tim was integral to the acquisition of ScanAlert in 2006, now McAfee SECURE, and continues to direct the brand strategy and operations at TrustedSite.

Ben Tyler - Chief Technology Officer
One of our ScanAlert originals, Ben created the groundbreaking Hacker Safe technology that paved the way for McAfee SECURE's success. He has been coding since he was tall enough to reach the keyboard, and continues to build cutting-edge internet security technology for the McAfee SECURE services suite.

Bill Kerrigan - Founder and Director
Bill's career includes roles as President and CEO of Abine, President and CEO of RadialPoint and as EVP of McAfee's Worldwide Consumer Business. His background also includes other senior executive roles at IBM, as well as board membership at leading consumer companies, such as Carbonite. Bill currently also serves as a Board Member at Radialpoint and as Executive Advisor to Abine. Bill has been personally profiled or provided thought leadership commentary on the privacy and security industries in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, TechCrunch, ZDNet, The New York Times, and other publications.

Todd Gebhart - Director
Todd Gebhart recently retired as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for McAfee. Gebhart was previously co-president of McAfee. Gebhart has more than 30 years' experience in the IT industry, and has held senior management positions with notable technology companies in the Silicon Valley. Gebhart started his career at IBM, where he worked in a variety of sales and sales management positions. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from California State Polytechnic University, and completed the executive MBA program at Harvard University. He serves on the President's Cabinet at Cal Poly and is a member of the Board of Directors for Bomgar Corporation. Mr. Gebhart also spends time raising funds for the American Cancer Society and the Parkinson Institute of California.
