Freedom of the press or freedom of the media is the freedom of communication and expression through mediums including various electronic media and published materials. While such freedom mostly implies the absence of interference from an overreaching state, its preservation may be sought through constitutional or other legal protections.
With respect to governmental information, any government may distinguish which materials are public or protected from disclosure to the public based on classification of information as sensitive, classified or secret and being otherwise protected from disclosure due to relevance of the information to protecting the national interest. Many governments are also subject to sunshine laws or freedom of information legislation that are used to define the ambit of national interest.
The United Nations' 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference, and impart information and ideas through any media regardless of frontiers"
Freedom – Civil Rights Party for More Freedom and Democracy (Die Freiheit – Bürgerrechtspartei für mehr Freiheit und Demokratie), also known as The Freedom (German: Die Freiheit), is a small political party in Germany which identifies as conservative-liberal or classical liberal party; while the party has been described by German mainstream media as right-wing populist, and is known for its criticism of Islam.
It was founded in October 2010 by Berlin city parliamentarian René Stadtkewitz who had been expelled from the conservative CDU for inviting the Dutch politician and Islam critic Geert Wilders to Berlin. The party seeks the implementation of a direct citizen democracy based on the Swiss model and extensive changes in immigration and integration policy.
Freedom was founded in October 2010 by Rene Stadtkewitz in the wake of the immigration debate spurred by the then-member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank Thilo Sarrazin. The Berlin city parliamentarian Stadtkewitz was expelled from the Christian Democratic Union faction in 2010 after inviting Dutch politician Geert Wilders of the Party for Freedom to hold a speech in Berlin. A number of other politicians who left their respective parties joined Stadtkewitz, while prominent Islam and immigration critic Thilo Sarrazin refused participation in the new party, but fought to stay in his Social Democratic Party and stated that the immigration and integration issues had to be discussed inside the major parties. In June 2011, the party expanded, founding state associations in ten German states.
The Press is a daily broadsheet newspaper published in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is owned by Fairfax Media.
James FitzGerald came to Lyttelton on the Charlotte Jane in December 1850, and was from January 1851 the first editor of the Lyttelton Times, Canterbury's first newspaper. From 1853, he focussed on politics and withdrew from the Lyttelton Times. After several years in England, he returned to Canterbury concerned about the proposed capital works programme of the provincial government, with his chief concern the proposed rail tunnel connecting Christchurch and Lyttelton, which he thought of as fiscally irresponsible, but supported by his old newspaper, the Lyttelton Times. The newspaper's editor, Crosbie Ward, made an imputation of unknown content, and this spurred FitzGerald to set up The Press as a rival newspaper.
FitzGerald had dinner with John Charles Watts-Russell, who put up £500 on the condition that FitzGerald would be in charge of the new newspaper. Next, he enlisted the support of the Rev. John Raven, who organised many of the practical aspects, like organising a printer and a printing press. Other members of the early committee that organised The Press were H. P. Lance, Henry Tancred, and Richard J. S. Harman; all of them were colonial gentry.
Liberty, in philosophy, involves free will as contrasted with determinism. In politics, liberty consists of the social and political freedoms enjoyed by all citizens. In theology, liberty is freedom from the bondage of sin. Generally, liberty seems to be distinct from freedom in that freedom concerns itself primarily, if not exclusively, with the ability to do as one wills and what one has the power to do; whereas liberty also takes into account the rights of all involved. As such, liberty can be thought of as freedom limited by rights, and therefore cannot be abused.
Philosophers from earliest times have considered the question of liberty. Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121–180 AD) wrote of "a polity in which there is the same law for all, a polity administered with regard to equal rights and equal freedom of speech, and the idea of a kingly government which respects most of all the freedom of the governed." According to Thomas Hobbes, "a free man is he that in those things which by his strength and wit he is able to do is not hindered to do what he hath the will to do" (Leviathan, Part 2, Ch. XXI).

Today, Craig is going to finish up our discussion of the First Amendment with freedom of the press. Like an individual's right to free speech, the press has a right, and arguably responsibility, to tell the public what the government is doing. But of course there are some complications in doing so, like if that information will compromise national security or wrongfully discredit an individual. When considering Edward Snowden's NSA disclosures or Julian Assange's Wikileaks, it's just as important as ever to understand the role of the press in informing the public as well as our role as citizens in staying informed. In the US, the press has a right to publish secret information the public needs to know, protected by the First Amendment. Government surveillance has made it increasingly more dangerous for whistleblowers, the source of virtually every important story about national security since 9/11, to share information. In this concise, informative talk, Freedom of the Press Foundation co-founder and TED Fellow Trevor Timm traces the recent history of government action against individuals who expose crime and injustice and advocates for technology that can help them do it safely and anonymously. Al Jazeera demands press freedom To those who demand that Al Jazeera be shut down and that people's right to the truth be suppressed, we too have demands. To those who demand that Al Jazeera be shut down and that people's right to the truth be suppressed, we too have demands. We demand the public have access to unbiased information. We demand journalists not be treated as criminals. We demand those without a voice be heard. We demand press freedom. At Al Jazeera, we believe that any call for closing down or obstructing access to our channels is nothing but an attempt to silence freedom of expression and to suppress people's right to information and the right to be heard. You can join the conversation and share your demands on the hashtag #DemandPressFreedom.

At this point there was a split in La Prensa. The editor Xavier Chamorro Cardenal, together with 80% of the staff, left the paper to form El Nuevo Diar...
"Government shall make no law (…) abridging the freedom of speech or of the press". It is the Bill of Rights from 1791 that manifests this fundamental freedom for the United States States of America by that time a young democracy aged 15 years. As you may know a freedom as such never comes for free. In many parts of the world our ancestors had to fight for this freedom at some time. In far too many countries they people still have to fight for it. And they often pay the highest price you can imagine. They pay with their lives. And even if other countries have already achieved this fundamental freedom, you can never be sure that it is going to last forever. The World Press Institute in St. Paul Minnesota provides annual fellowships for ten journalists from all over the world to get in touc...

The echo chamber effect is at an all time high as the new world media conglomerate pushes back against those who are waking up. The echo chamber effect is the relentless "propping up" of your own beliefs with the goal to perpetually disunite the masses and prevent us from seeing the powers that be behind the curtain. It is no coincidence that the corptocracy pushes world culture towards its own ends. In furtherance of its agenda of total control - we now live in a time where propaganda of US citizens is legal - what news is real? So many events have serious questions surrounding them - from mass shootings to pizzagate - how can we place faith in the corptocracy's cultural media machine?

What right does the public have to know about national security issues? Former CIA director and secretary of defense James Schlesinger, former attorney general Griffin Bell, and others debate the issue.
Journalism is under attack. The tensions between the responsibilities of journalists and the prerogatives of the government when dealing with issues of national security are exacerbated by a body politic fortified by partisan certitude, by technology designed to ferret out confidential sources, and by nation-states with unknown agendas. The National Constitution Center co-hosted a program with The Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, "Freedom of the Press and National Security in the Trump Era: Reconciling Competing Values in Democratic Governance." Take the responsible reporting of national security crises: while such events are inherently newsworthy, journalists must grapple with the troubling reality, born out by experience and by schol...

It's a barrage of violence, sickness and shame
You struggle for your living and you're paying with pain
I read of the poor, and the women and the victims to blame
For the collapse of the country again and again
They're checking all the people
In all their holes
Whips and lashes and cuts back
To double standards, backhanders
It's a grey desolate country
But we're glorious again
He's peeling his banana while roasting your nuts
You've got to get your gums around his plums
He's going to modify your attitude
And customize your crawl
With the muck he prints
He's got to us all
Peoria
I met her in Peoria
250 lbs. of flabby harlot woman flesh
Is wobbling around the hotel room, farting
Mucus is dripping from her pig-hole nostrils into her mouth
Nah, streaming
Steaming, streaming great green rivulet
Her tounge makes sure no leftover chunks go astray, miss their mark
Mom I mean buisness
Put your finger on the button
Yeah, will do
Just let me finish this page
I said (hog call)
Sticky, sticky, sticky, sticky, sticky
Tounge's feeling dry, swollen up like a pocket full of lint inclusive
Know what I mean
Know what I mean
Know what I mean
Failing that, the falling fat
Crack another six pack and get on with the job at hand
Many hands make light work
But makes palms broth
Fists flying and slipping into hole after hole after hole after heat
Hey, she buys cayenneby the quart
Filled up to the elbow bone, fried up to the joint
Filed at the shin, skin hanging off in sheets and shards
You do this shit for a living
Those grimey, greasy pores exuding their slimy mixture of filth and puss
In little white whorled pustules
Every time she smiles that yellow, shit-eating grin
That shit-eating grin
