Utah (/ˈjuːtɔː/ or i/ˈjuːtɑː/; Navajo: Áshįįh bi Tó Hahoodzo; Arapaho: Wo'tééneihí ) is a state in the western United States. It became the 45th state admitted to the Union on January 4, 1896. Utah is the 13th-largest, the 31st-most populous, and the 10th-least-densely populated of the 50 United States. Utah has a population of nearly 3 million (Census estimate for July 1, 2015), approximately 80% of whom live along the Wasatch Front, centering on Salt Lake City. Utah is bordered by Colorado to the east, Wyoming to the northeast, Idaho to the north, Arizona to the south, and Nevada to the west. It also touches a corner of New Mexico in the southeast.
Approximately 62% of Utahns are reported to be members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or LDS (Mormons), which greatly influences Utah culture and daily life. The world headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) is located in Utah's state capital, Salt Lake City. Utah is the most religiously homogeneous state in the United States, the only state with a Mormon majority, and the only state with a majority population belonging to a single church.
The Canyons may refer to:
Escalante (/ɛskəˈlɑːnteɪ/, local /ˈɛskɛlæni/ or /ˈɛskəlænt/) is a city in Garfield County, Utah, United States located along Utah Scenic Byway 12 (SR-12) in the south central part of the state. As of the 2010 census, there were 797 people residing in the city. The population estimate was reduced to 783 by 2012.
The city is named after Silvestre Vélez de Escalante, a Franciscan missionary and a member of the first European expedition into southern Utah.
The nearest towns are Boulder which is 27 mi (43 km) to the northeast on SR-12, and Henrieville which is 30 mi (48 km) to the southwest on SR-12.
The Escalante Petrified Forest State Park is located to the west of the city. Sections of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument (GSENM) abut much of the city's limits. The Hole-in-the-Rock Road, which begins 5 mi (8.0 km) east of Escalante, is the main access road into the eastern section of GSENM. The road leads to the Canyons of the Escalante, the Devil's Garden and the Hole-in-the-Rock.
Ultra-high-definition television (also known as 2160p, UHD-1, Super Hi-Vision, Ultra HD television, UltraHD, UHDTV, or UHD) includes 4K UHD (2160p) and 8K UHD (4320p), which are two digital video formats proposed by NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories and defined and approved by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The Consumer Electronics Association announced on October 17, 2012, that "Ultra High Definition", or "Ultra HD", would be used for displays that have an aspect ratio of 16:9 and at least one digital input capable of carrying and presenting native video at a minimum resolution of 3840×2160 pixels.
Ultra-high-definition television is also known as Ultra HD, UHD, and UHDTV. In Japan, 8K UHDTV will be known as Super Hi-Vision since Hi-Vision was the term used in Japan for HDTV. In the consumer electronics market companies had previously only used the term 4K at the 2012 CES but that had changed to Ultra HD during the 2013 CES. The Ultra HD term is an umbrella term that was selected by the Consumer Electronics Association after extensive consumer research.
A gorge or canyon (cañon, old spelling occasionally still used) is a deep ravine between pairs of escarpments or cliffs and is the most often carved landscape by the erosive activity of a river over geologic timescales. Rivers have a natural tendency to cut through underlying surfaces so will eventually wear away rock layers to lessen their own pitch slowing their waters; given enough time, their bottoms will gradually reach a baseline elevation—which is the same elevation as the body of water it will eventually drain into. This action, when the river source and mouth are at much different base elevations will form a canyon, particularly through regions where softer rock layers are intermingled with harder layers more resistant to weathering.
A canyon may also refer to a rift between two mountain peaks, such as those in ranges including the Rocky Mountains, the Alps, the Himalayas or the Andes. Usually a river or stream and erosion carve out such splits between mountains. Examples of mountain-type canyons are Provo Canyon in Utah or Yosemite National Park in California's Sierra Nevada. Canyons within mountains, or gorges that have an opening on only one side are called box canyons. Slot canyons are very narrow canyons, often with smooth walls.

Zebra and Tunnel Slot Canyons in Escalante, Utah are unique. The banding in the sandstone in Zebra is not like many other slots. The colors are different and nature's design is one of a kind. Although the canyon is very short it has a lot to offer to the photographer. A crow has taken up residence and made quite a mess down one wall but we did not find it in the way. Another hiker who was there early in the morning commented on the racket the bird was making. Since this slot is so short and you return the way back down the canyon it may be a good idea to travel in and out in small groups. In other words take turns so everyone can enjoy and photograph. There is little to no room in this narrow gulch. Tunnel is not that photogenic. It is just like the name, more of a tunnel with little li...

We were caught in a flash flood in one of Utah's most famous slot canyons. We checked the weather the day prior and there was no chance of rain..we were out of cell phone/internet coverage. This is proof of how fast things can get ugly! We had hiked Little Wild Horse Canyon in the San Rafael Swell before always being cautious, the forecast had changed to %20 chance..this was a fairly light rain, hard to believe the results! We had hiked up further, this video is us running back to find the girls we left behind. We found them in an opening waiting out the storm. The lower slots are actually much narrower than these, luckily my wife knew to backtrack to this opening as soon as she saw the water coming. Not sure of the results had we not found them..always get to higher ground and wait it out...

The State of Utah is located in the south west of the United States of America is a land of endless horizons, canyons, deserts and big open spaces. What Mecca is to the Moslems and Rome is to the Catholics is what Salt Lake City is to the Mormons. It is also the capital of the U.S. federal state of Utah. The prosperous city also contains many of those of other faiths but the highly influential Mormon church makes most of the region’s political decisions. Travel video about destination Arches in The USA. Arches is an area in the U.S. state of Utah that is one of the most famous national parks in North America and owes its fame to its fantastic sandstone arches. In spite of its comparatively modest size of three hundred square kilometres it boasts one of the most magnificent landscapes in the south west of the United States. The park's natural arches have become its unmistakable landmark and the impressive process of erosion that began in Prehistoric times demonstrates how even the hardest rock can be manipulated by the forces of nature. Landscape Arch is one of the park's most striking formations. With a span of around a hundred metres it is one of the largest of its kind in the world. Delicate Arch rises up grandly and majestically above...

Travel video about destination Great Salt Lake. Framed by the picturesque Wasatch and Uninta Mountains is one of the most unique lakes in the world, the Great Salt Lake in North America, that is located north west of Salt Lake City. The water has a high salt content and few creatures are able to survive within its waters. However, numerous rare species of water fowl can be found along its banks. Salt water shrimp and brine shrimp are the staple diet of the birdlife that inhabits the Great Salt Lake andit is only in the tributaries of the lake that fish are to be found.Due to the loss of its natural outflows the Great Salt Lake lost its water by evaporationthus creating its saltiness. Isn't there something so wonderful about going to the mountains? We live just an hour outside of Park City, so it was fun to explore a place that is so close to home for us! I'm obsessed with all the colorful buildings, and the overall vibe up there. However, the one thing that can be tricky about traveling in the mountains, is that you can't find food at the snap of a finger like other places. That's why it was perfect for us to partner with Pure Growth Organic, to keep our family fueled while we were out and about! We love Pure Growth Organic snacks, because they are organic, super yummy (I found myself diving into Lucy's Mickey Mouse animal crackers!), and they're the same price as other snacks. Not ridiculously expensive like most organic foods. So yeah, snacks definitely came in clutc...

March 2014 video of the most accessible route I found from a road to the slot canyon where a boulder pinned Aron Ralston's hand in 2003. Footage of Bluejohn canyon from the s-log begins at 8:35; footage of the boulder is at 12:35; you get a sense of the rough condition of San Rafael Road at 21:25. San Rafael Road is mostly sand, it is hilly, and it is extremely bumpy (20mph max for 2WD). I have four subsequent videos on youtube to this location with higher definition footage as well as time-lapse of the rock in the sun (Staying with the Boulder) and to and down the canyon (Recording the Canyon), uncut videos of the hike down and out of the slot to the boulder (Taking my Dad to the Boulder) and photos of the deeper part of the slot (Big Drop & Conical Spire).
The Navajo Loop Trail descends from Sunset Point through the slot canyon of Wall Street, where 500 to 700-year-old Douglas Firs reach upward toward the sunlight at the top of the canyon. The Navajo Loop is the most popular trail in the park, and is often combined with the Queen's Garden Trail to form a longer loop that passes through the Queen's Garden and emerges onto the rim at Sunrise Point. From here two very scenic and easy strolls can be taken as part of the Rim Trail. A ½-mile walk to the north on a wheelchair accessible trail which takes you to Sunset Point. Walking ¾ of a mile to the south across gently rolling terrain, you arrive at Inspiration Point. We drop our packs, and hike down to Neon Canyon and the Golden Cathedral. We then backtrack in the dark to set up our tents at Choprock Canyon. Canyon Wind Ambient Sound for meditation, relaxation, yoga, helps to sleep (sleeping), study, concentrate (concentration), baby sleep etc. --------------------------------------------------------- What is a Canyon? A gorge or canyon is a deep ravine between pairs of escarpments or cliffs and is the most often carved landscape by the erosive activity of a river over geologic timescales. Rivers have a natural tendency to cut through underlying surfaces so will eventually wear away rock layers to lessen their own pitch slowing their waters; given enough time, their bottoms will gradually reach a baseline elevation—which is the same elevation as the body of water it will eventually drain into. This action, when the river source and mouth are at much different base elevations will form a canyon...

The State of Utah is located in the south west of the United States of America is a land of endless horizons, canyons, deserts and big open spaces. The prosperous city also contains many of those of other faiths but the highly influential Mormon church makes most of the region’s political decisions. The administrative HQ of the world wide active Mormon church is, at a hundred and twenty eight metres high, the city’s tallest building. The religion’s financial might and strict administration still exist today. Each member ...
Even in daytime the moon seems to watch over the magnificent and fascinating world of the Grand Canyon, one of the world’s most famous natural wonders. This incomparable and beautiful canyon extends for several hundred kilometres in the northwest of Arizona. The secrets of the Canyon’s huge rock walls and deep valleys lay hidden for many years. Archaeological discoveries have shown that the Anasazi, a tribe of Native American Indians, were the first to settle within this region. From its source in the Rocky Mountains to its estuary in the Gulf Of Mexico, the Colorado River flows at an altitude of nearly three thousand metres above sea level. The rocks, sand and mud that are carried along with the water cut relentlessly into the stony ground. The deepest point of the canyons descends for...
