Rainbow Syndrome

Rainbow Syndrome is the first Korean studio album (second overall) by South Korean girl group Rainbow. The album was split into two parts, with the first being released on February 13, 2013, containing six songs. "Tell Me Tell Me" was used to promote the release. The second installment was released on June 4, 2013 containing seven songs. "Sunshine" was used to promote the second part.

History

Part 1

Following promotions of the repackage of So Girls, the group promoted in Japan for the remainder of 2011, along with most of 2012. In January 2012 however, a sub-unit consisting of Jisook, HyunYoung and Seungah called Rainbow Pixie promoted single "Hoi Hoi". Later in the year, Hyun Young was diagnosed with a vocal cord polyp and underwent surgery for its removal. The group ended up not promoting together for a year and ten months in Korea, until this album. On January 22, DSP confirmed the groups return in February 2013, revealing a brand new concept photo on January 29. The album tracklist was revealed in a "Tracklist Video" featuring Woo-ri rapping the song titles in a cover of Azealia Banks' single "212".

Rainbow

A rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of a multicoloured arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.

Rainbows can be full circles; however, the average observer sees only an arc formed by illuminated droplets above the ground, and centred on a line from the sun to the observer's eye.

In a primary rainbow, the arc shows red on the outer part and violet on the inner side. This rainbow is caused by light being refracted when entering a droplet of water, then reflected inside on the back of the droplet and refracted again when leaving it.

In a double rainbow, a second arc is seen outside the primary arc, and has the order of its colours reversed, with red on the inner side of the arc.

Overview

A rainbow is not located at a specific distance from the observer, but comes from an optical illusion caused by any water droplets viewed from a certain angle relative to a light source. Thus, a rainbow is not an object and cannot be physically approached. Indeed, it is impossible for an observer to see a rainbow from water droplets at any angle other than the customary one of 42 degrees from the direction opposite the light source. Even if an observer sees another observer who seems "under" or "at the end of" a rainbow, the second observer will see a different rainbow—farther off—at the same angle as seen by the first observer.

I'll Wait

"I'll Wait" is a song by the American rock band Van Halen, taken from their sixth studio album, 1984 (1984). The song was written by band members Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, Michael Anthony, David Lee Roth and Michael McDonald, and produced by Ted Templeman.

It was the second single released from the record and reached #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. Like "Jump", this song features keyboards almost entirely, and includes a synthesizer bass line. The song also features heavy use of Alex Van Halen's Rototom drum kit. David Lee Roth and producer Ted Templeman wanted to remove the song from the album, while Eddie Van Halen and Donn Landee wanted and pushed for its inclusion.

Background

The song was written as a collaboration between Van Halen and Doobie Brothers singer Michael McDonald. The single's original cover featured the band posing in the same location where the cover for the "Hot for Teacher" single had been shot.

The song's subject was inspired by a woman wearing men's underwear in a Calvin Klein print media advertisement. Roth wrote the lyrics while the advertisement was tacked onto his Sony Trinitron television.
