Rainbow

A rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of a multicoloured arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.

Rainbows can be full circles; however, the average observer sees only an arc formed by illuminated droplets above the ground, and centred on a line from the sun to the observer's eye.

In a primary rainbow, the arc shows red on the outer part and violet on the inner side. This rainbow is caused by light being refracted when entering a droplet of water, then reflected inside on the back of the droplet and refracted again when leaving it.

In a double rainbow, a second arc is seen outside the primary arc, and has the order of its colours reversed, with red on the inner side of the arc.

Overview

A rainbow is not located at a specific distance from the observer, but comes from an optical illusion caused by any water droplets viewed from a certain angle relative to a light source. Thus, a rainbow is not an object and cannot be physically approached. Indeed, it is impossible for an observer to see a rainbow from water droplets at any angle other than the customary one of 42 degrees from the direction opposite the light source. Even if an observer sees another observer who seems "under" or "at the end of" a rainbow, the second observer will see a different rainbow—farther off—at the same angle as seen by the first observer.

Who You Are (Jessie J album)

Who You Are is the debut studio album by English singer-songwriter Jessie J, released on 28 February 2011. Due to high demand and interest from fans, the release advanced by a month from 28 March, as previously planned. Production for the album took place throughout 2010 and contributing producers included: Dr. Luke, Toby Gad and K-Gee.

Who You Are received generally mixed reviews from contemporary music critics. It débuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart selling 105,000 copies in its first week. The album débuted in the US at number 11 on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 34,000 copies. Two singles preceded the album: Jessie J's UK début single "Do It Like a Dude" and "Price Tag", featuring B.o.B which served as the US lead single. A third single, "Nobody's Perfect", became J's third consecutive top 10 hit in the UK. The fourth single from the album "Who's Laughing Now", released 21 August 2011, peaked at #16 on the UK Singles Chart. The title track, "Who You Are", was released on 13 November 2011 as the album's fifth UK single.

The End (Lost)

"The End" is the series finale of the ABC television series Lost, consisting of the 17th and 18th episodes of season 6. It is also the 120th and 121st episodes overall. As the final episode, it was first aired in the eastern United States and eastern Canada, and then aired simultaneously in the western United States, western Canada, and eight other countries.

The finale was written by co-creator/executive producer Damon Lindelof and executive producer Carlton Cuse, and directed by executive producer Jack Bender. Unlike the previous season finales, which were two hours long with advertisements, the series finale was expanded by half an hour, running two and a half hours starting at 9 pm Eastern Daylight Time, with a retrospective of the past six seasons running for two hours, starting at 7 pm.

"The End" was watched by 13.5 million Americans and received a strongly polarized response from both fans and critics. Reviewers from the Chicago Tribune and IGN called it the best episode of the season and praised its emotion and character. Negative reviews from the Los Angeles Times and The Philadelphia Inquirer criticized the finale for answering so few of the series' questions. Web site Metacritic gave "The End" a score of 74 out of 100, suggesting "mostly positive reviews", while The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph reported mostly negative reviews.

Incomparable

Incomparable is the second studio album by Swedish metal band Dead by April. Production for the album took place after a lineup change of guitarists and vocalists for the band following the release of their self-titled debut. Incomparable was released on September 21, 2011 in the United States and most countries, and on September 26 in the United Kingdom, making it the first album by the band to be released in the US in the same time frame as its European release. The album's first official single, "Within My Heart", was released on May 16, 2011 as an EP containing two additional tracks to be featured on the album. The second single, "Calling", was released on September 4 with an accompanying music video released October 6. The third single, "Lost", was released on September 19, 2011, following the delay of the "Calling" music video.

Like the band's debut album, Incomparable included re-recorded demos as well as brand new tracks. On their debut album, only two out of 16 tracks were new, and the 14 others were re-recorded demo songs. Incomparable, however, has only one re-done demo (which is one of their earliest written tunes: "Lost") while the other 12 songs on the standard edition are new. Two other songs, "Painting Shadows" and "Unhateable", were also remade during the production of the album; the former was made the bonus track and the latter did not make it on the track list but was featured on the B-side of "Within My Heart". Incomparable charted at number two on the Swedish Albums Charts.

Lost (Michael Bublé song)

"Lost" is a song by Canadian crooner Michael Bublé, released as third single from his third major label studio album, Call Me Irresponsible. The song was inspired by the breakup with his former fiancée Debbie Timuss. The song was released as a single on November 12, 2007.

Background

In promotion of the single, Bublé performed the song on The X Factor on December 8, 2007. The song was also featured in the sixth season of American police procedural drama NCIS. It featured in a scene in the episode "Heartland", in which Agent Gibbs leaves the town of Stillwater while recalling how he met his first wife. The song was later covered by Jann Arden, a co-writer of the song, for her album Free. The song was a moderate success worldwide. In Canada, the song peaked at #25, while in the United States, "Lost" peaked at #97, making it Michael's third highest entrance in the chart. It also had fair success in the United Kingdom, where it peaked at #19. In Norway, the song peaked at #14. "Lost" was later nominated for a Juno award in 2009.
