Sway (song)

"Sway" is the English version of "¿Quién será?", a 1953 mambo instrumental song by Mexican composers Luis Demetrio and Pablo Beltrán Ruiz. The most famous English version is that of Dean Martin recorded in 1954. English lyrics are by Norman Gimbel. Since then the song has been recorded and remixed by many artists (see discography below).

In 1954 the English lyrics were written by Norman Gimbel and recorded by Dean Martin (his recording reached number fifteen on the Billboard magazine best-seller chart and number six on the UK chart).

"Sway" was covered by Canadian singer Michael Bublé for his debut major-label studio album, Michael Bublé, released in 2003. Sway was chosen for release as the album's third single, and was released in Australia on June 22, 2004.

Early life

Il Divo

Il Divo (Italian pronunciation: [il ˈdiːvo]) is a multinational classical crossover vocal group. The group originated in the UK in December 2003, and is a vocal quartet composed of four male singers; Swiss Urs Buhler, Spaniard Carlos Marin, American David Miller, and Frenchman Sébastien Izambard.

As of 2015, the group has released nine albums: Il Divo (2004), Ancora (2005), Siempre (2006), The Promise (2008), Wicked Game (2011), A Musical Affair (2013) and Amor & Pasión (2015); a compilation album The Greatest Hits (2012); special Christmas songs album The Christmas Collection (2005). Two other albums An Evening with Il Divo: Live in Barcelona (2009) and Live in Japan (2014) are live recordings of concerts. Additionally, they have collaborated with other artists, having them as guest performers.

Since its inception Il Divo has enjoyed success worldwide, selling to date of 2015, over 30 million copies worldwide discs. With 160 certified gold and platinum hits in 35 different countries, it pioneered the genre of operatic pop, or "popera", in classical crossover music.

Spanish pronouns

The Spanish language has a range of pronouns that in some ways work quite differently from English ones. The system is more complicated, but richer. Correct pronoun use is essential for successful relationships with other people. In addition, subject pronouns are often omitted, and object pronouns usually precede the verb.

Personal pronouns

The table below shows a cumulative list of personal pronouns from Peninsular, Latin American and Ladino Spanish.

Subject personal pronouns are usually omitted in both spoken and written language, as the grammatical person and number of the subject are made explicit in the verb form. For this reason Spanish is considered a "pro-drop language". Nevertheless, subject pronouns can be used for emphasis or contrast, or to avoid ambiguity. With regard to pronouns, Latin American Spanish differs from Peninsular Spanish mainly in the usage of vos in some areas and in the absence of vosotros, among other things. Note that Ladino and Latin American Spanish (like most other "colonial" speech) tend to be conservative in their structural changes compared with that of the country of origin. The next section explains their usage.

Sonora Santanera

Sonora Santanera is an orchestra playing tropical music from Mexico with over 55 years of history. The band was founded in 1955 by Carlos Colorado in the state of Tabasco, modeled after an earlier Cuban band called Sonora Matancera. However, the band created its own style. In 1960, comic actor Jesús “Palillo” Martínez helped the band play in Mexico City and get a professional record deal under the name of Sonora Santanera. From that time until 1986, the band changed members, but remained focused on Carlos Colorado, the sole musical arranger for the group. Colorado died in a bus accident in 1986, causing some members to split off and form another orchestra called Los Santaneros. The remaining members changed name to Internacional Sonora Santanera. Since the 1980s, little of the band’s sound changed although members continued to do so. In the 2000s, more bands appeared using the name of Sonora Santanera as part of their names, leading the orchestra to pursue legal actions and another name change in 2007 to the current name of "La Única Internacional Sonora Santanera".
