Một phần nhỏ trong cuộc trường chinh kháng chiến anh hùng của người dân miền Nam và nhân dân Việt Nam trong cuộc đọ sức đọ trí với "gã khổng lồ", "con khủng long" bách chiến bách thắng Hoa Kỳ.
Xem phim này xong càng thấy thương yêu, kính phục những ông bà cụ, những cha anh miền Nam kiên cường chống Mỹ. Những người con Nam Bộ thành đồng Tổ quốc, miền Nam đi trước (1945) - về sau (1975). Stan Cottrell's run across China began at the Great Wall north of Beijing, and finished 53 days later in Canton, more then 2,000 miles to the south, averaging 40 miles a day.
The documentary CHINA RUN, however, is only peripherally concerned with the mechanics of this grueling run: it is really the story of a stranger in a strang land, the world of the modern Chinese peasant seen through the eyes of an American peasant. It is a study in contrast...it is also a study of shared aspirations.
The son of a poor Kentucky sharecropper, Stan Cottrell struggled through a childhood of poverty and abuse by losing himself in running--running after neighbors cows, running down moonshiners for the law, running races at county fairs to achieve the only recognition a poverty-stricken country boy was allowed.
The Great Friendship Run began as a dream, but quickly became an obsession, Cottrell and the Chinese and American film crew that accompanied him entered into areas of China unseen by foreigners for over thirty years. By the end of the run, he had not only come to know the joyous and anguish of the common Chinese people, but he had also come to know a part of himself that he only suspected--but never knew--existed.
Like Cottrell at the beginning of his odyssey, most Americans live in shameful ignorance of a nation that comprises one-quarter of the earth's population. CHINA RUN is thus not only a dramatic presentation of one man's struggle to see his ambitious dream come true, but it is also a concise picture of China itself in the 1980s, in a historic period of transition between the totalitarian government of the Mao years and the unsure but hopeful China under Deng Xiaoping's progressive leadership.

Bruce Ramsay
Bruce Ramsay (born December 31, 1966) is a Canadian film, television and stage actor.
Early life
Ramsay was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He has appeared in Orphans at the Arts Club Theatre Company in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 1997.
Career
He has not only appeared in nineteen films but has also appeared in CBS' Nash Bridges, HBO's The Hitchhiker series and Showtime's The Hunger series.
He has worked with Dana Delany in Baby for Sale, James Caan in Jericho Mansions, Arnold Schwarzenegger in Collateral Damage, Charlotte Chatton in Exploding Oedipus, Judy Davis and Peter Weller in The New Age, and Eric Stoltz and Jean-Hugues Anglade in Killing Zoe, Doug Bradley, Paul Perri, Wren T. Brown, Pat Skipper, Tom Dugan, and Adam Scott in Hellraiser: Bloodline.

Củ Chi is a suburban district of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
During the American War from 1967, it served as base for the 269th Aviation Battalion of the United States Army.
It is famous for its Củ Chi tunnels, which were constructed during the Vietnam War, and served as headquarters for the Viet Cong. Today, the district has many industrial zones.
As of 2010, the district had a population of 355,822. It covers an area of 435 km². The district capital lies at Củ Chi Town.

Doug Bradley
Douglas William "Doug" Bradley (born 7 September 1954) is an English actor, best known for his role as the Lead Cenobite "Pinhead" in the Hellraiser film series.
Early life
Bradley was born in Liverpool, England. He attended Quarry Bank High School.
Career
Acting
Bradley is best known for playing the role of Pinhead, Lead Cenobite, in eight Hellraiser films (the only exception being Hellraiser: Revelations), as well as Captain Elliot Spencer in two of the films, Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988) and Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992). He is one of only six actors to play the same horror character at least six consecutive times, the others being Sir Christopher Lee (who portrayed Count Dracula), Robert Englund (who portrayed Freddy Krueger), Warwick Davis (who portrayed the Leprechaun), Brad Dourif (who portrayed Chucky) and Tobin Bell (who portrayed Jigsaw). Due to his eventual skill at application and removal of the Pinhead appliances and costume, he has been credited in some of the Hellraiser films as an assistant make-up artist named Bill Bradley, using his middle name.

The documentary CHINA RUN, however, is only peripherally concerned with the mechanics of this grueling run: it is really the story of a stranger in a strang land, the world of the modern Chinese peasant seen through the eyes of an American peasant. It is a study in contrast...it is also a study of shared aspirations. The son of a poor Kentucky sharecropper, Stan Cottrell struggled through a childhood of poverty and abuse by losing himself in running--running after neighbors cows, running down moonshiners for the law, running races at county fairs to achieve the only recognition a poverty-stricken country boy was allowed. The Great Friendship Run began as a dream, but quickly became an obsession, Cottrell and the Chinese and American film crew that accompanied him entered into areas of China unseen by foreigners for over thirty years. By the end of the run, he had not only come to know the joyous and anguish of the common Chinese people, but he had also come to know a part of himself that he only suspected--but never knew--existed. Like Cottrell at the beginning of his odyssey, most Americans live in shameful ignorance of a nation that comprises one-quarter of the earth's population. CHINA RUN is thus not only a dramatic presentation of one man's struggle to see his ambitious dream come true, but it is also a concise picture of China itself in the 1980s, in a historic period of transition between the totalitarian government of the Mao years and the unsure but hopeful China under Deng Xiaoping's progressive leadership. Một phần nhỏ trong cuộc trường chinh kháng chiến anh hùng của người dân miền Nam và nhân dân Việt Nam trong cuộc đọ sức đọ trí với "gã khổng lồ", "con khủng long" bách chiến bách thắng Hoa Kỳ.
Xem phim này xong càng thấy thương yêu, kính phục những ông bà cụ, những cha anh miền Nam kiên cường chống Mỹ. Những người con Nam Bộ thành đồng Tổ quốc, miền Nam đi trước (1945) - về sau (1975). Stan Cottrell's run across China began at the Great Wall north of Beijing, and finished 53 days later in Canton, more then 2,000 miles to the south, averaging 40 miles a day.
The documentary CHINA RUN, however, is only peripherally concerned with the mechanics of this grueling run: it is really the story of a stranger in a strang land, the world of the modern Chinese peasant seen through the eyes of an American peasant. It is a study in contrast...it is also a study of shared aspirations.
The son of a poor Kentucky sharecropper, Stan Cottrell struggled through a childhood of poverty and abuse by losing himself in running--running after neighbors cows, running down moonshiners for the law, running races at county fairs to achieve the only recognition a poverty-stricken country boy was allowed.
The Great Friendship Run began as a dream, but quickly became an obsession, Cottrell and the Chinese and American film crew that accompanied him entered into areas of China unseen by foreigners for over thirty years. By the end of the run, he had not only come to know the joyous and anguish of the common Chinese people, but he had also come to know a part of himself that he only suspected--but never knew--existed.
Like Cottrell at the beginning of his odyssey, most Americans live in shameful ignorance of a nation that comprises one-quarter of the earth's population. CHINA RUN is thus not only a dramatic presentation of one man's struggle to see his ambitious dream come true, but it is also a concise picture of China itself in the 1980s, in a historic period of transition between the totalitarian government of the Mao years and the unsure but hopeful China under Deng Xiaoping's progressive leadership.
