Girlicious (album)

Girlicious is the self-titled debut studio album by American girl group Girlicious. The album infuses hip hop and R&B with urban and dance-pop influences. Production initially started in early 2008, after filming for Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious wrapped up.

The album debuted at number two on the Canadian Hot 100 and has since shipped 80,000 unites and been certified Platinum. It was re-released as a Deluxe Edition on December 16, 2008, and includes two new songs and three remixes of the album's singles.

Release and reception

Released as a CD and music download in Canada on August 12, 2008, the album generated positive reviews from critics upon its release. The album topped the charts debuting at number 2 on the Canadian Album Charts and has since been certified Platinum.

To date the album sparked three singles. The first single, "Like Me" managed to debut at number 4 in Canada and at number two on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles in the United States and was listed for 19 weeks. The second single, "Stupid Shit" managed to debut at number 20 in Canada, where it was listed for 10 weeks. The third and final single, "Baby Doll" only managed to peak at 55 and was only listed for a total of three weeks making it the groups least successful single to date.

Flux Pavilion

Joshua Steele, better known by his stage name Flux Pavilion, is an English dance music record producer, singer-songwriter, DJ and label owner who has been performing since 2008.

Flux Pavilion has headlined three US tours, two UK tours, and several festival DJ sets, including Glastonbury, Reading, Coachella, and EDC Vegas. He has also made live performances with Example, Foreign Beggars and Chiddy Bang. Flux has listed his sound to be inspired by The Prodigy and Rusko.

Career

Flux Pavilion co-founded Circus Records along with childhood friend Doctor P, in 2009 with the backing of D&B pioneer DJ Swan-E and Earl Falconer of UB40.

In 2011 he produced the single "Bass Cannon", which peaked at number 56 on the UK Singles Chart, and was placed on the Radio 1 A-List. Along with Doctor P, Flux Pavilion presented the 2011 compilation album Circus One, to which he contributed four tracks. He is arguably best known for his song "I Can't Stop" from the Lines in Wax EP. In February 2011, Chiddy Bang created a freestyle to the song, which has appeared on their Peanut Butter and Swelly mixtape. In August 2011, the track was sampled by producer Shama "Sak Pase" Joseph for the song "Who Gon Stop Me" by Jay-Z and Kanye West on their collaborative album Watch the Throne. On 5 March 2012, "I Can't Stop" was used in the viral Kony 2012 campaign. It was also featured in the 2012 video game SSX, the 2013 film The Great Gatsby and the trailer for Ron Howard's 2013 film Rush starring Chris Hemsworth.

Madeline Merlo

Madeline Merlo (raised in Maple Ridge, British Columbia) is a Canadian country music singer-songwriter. Merlo was discovered by Vancouver writer/producer Dan Swinimer at age 17. Swinimer signed Madeline to his production company "Manicdown Productions" and worked with her for close to 2 years before helping her secure a record contract with Open Road Recordings in February 2013. She released her debut single, "Sinking Like a Stone", produced and co-written by Swinimer in February 2014. It charted for twenty weeks on the Billboard Canada Country chart, peaking at number 32. A self-titled extended play was released via Open Road on July 22, 2014. He also did the voice singer Dusk Sonata in My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Rainbow Rocks
