Bharatiya Janata Party

The Bharatiya Janata Party (pronounced [bʱaːrət̪iːjə dʒənət̪aː paːrʈiː]; translation: Indian People's Party; abbr. BJP) is one of the two major parties in the Indian political system, along with the Indian National Congress. As of 2015, it is the country's largest political party in terms of representation in the national parliament and state assemblies, and it is the world's largest party in terms of primary membership. The BJP is a right-wing party, with close ideological and organisational links to the Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

The BJP's origins lie in the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, formed in 1951 by Syama Prasad Mookerjee. After the State of Emergency in 1977, the Jana Sangh merged with several other parties to form the Janata Party; it defeated the incumbent Congress party in the 1977 general election. After three years in power, the Janata party dissolved in 1980 with the members of the erstwhile Jana Sangh reconvening to form the BJP. Although initially unsuccessful, winning only two seats in the 1984 general election, it grew in strength on the back of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. Following victories in several state elections and better performances in national elections, the BJP became the largest party in the parliament in 1996; however, it lacked a majority in the lower house of Parliament, and its government lasted only 13 days.

Nanabhau Patole

Nana Falgunrao Patole (Marathi: नाना फाल्गुनराव पटोले); popularly known as Nanabhau (Marathi: नानाभाऊ) (born 5 June 1963) is current Member of Parliament of 16th Lok Sabha belongs to Bhartiya Janata Party representing Bhandara-Gondiya (Lok Sabha constituency) in Maharashtra, India.

He contested 2014 Lok sabha elections from Bhandara-Gondiya (Lok Sabha constituency) as BJP /NDA candidate and won. He defeat the central union minister Shri Praful Patel by 149254 votes. He was also MLA from Sakoli Legislative Assembly Constituency. He fights for OBC and was leader of opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly

Vijay Rupani

Vijay Rupani (born 2 August 1956) is an Indian politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party and a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly representing Rajkot West and presently State cabinet minister of Gujarat government.

Early life

Vijay Rupani was born on 2 August 1956 to Ramniklal Rupani in a Jain Bania family. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and LLB degree. He is married. He has a daughter and a son.

Career

Vijay Rupani started his career as student activist. He joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and subsequently joined Jan Sangh in 1971 has been associated with Bharatiya Janta Party since its establishment. In fact, he is the only minister in the present cabinet to have been jailed during the Emergency. He has served as a corporator in Rajkot and has been the mayor and then a member of Rajya Sabha. He served as the chairman of manifesto committee during Keshubhai Patel's regime He enjoyed unbridled support from Narendra Modi and served as BJP's Gujarat unit general secretary and chairman of the Gujarat Finance Board during chief minister-ship of Narendra Modi.

Gujarat

Gujarat's coastal cities, chiefly Bharuch and Khambhat, served as ports and trading centres in the Maurya and Gupta empires, and during the succession of royal Saka dynasties from the Western Satraps era, whose geographic territories included Saurashtra and Malwa: modern Gujarat, South Sindh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh states.
