Rainbow Loom is a plastic loom used to weave colorful rubber bands into bracelets and charms. It was invented in 2011 by Cheong Choon Ng in Novi, Michigan. As of September 2014, Ng's company had sold over 8 million units worldwide, along with 40 million packets of rubber bands. Ng has sued the makers of rival products FunLoom and Cra-Z-Loom for patent infringement.
The Rainbow Loom is a plastic pegboard measuring 2 inches (51 mm) by 8 inches (200 mm). It has push pin-type pegs over which small, colored rubber bands are looped and pulled by a rainbow loom crochet hook. The resulting looped knots, known as Brunnian links, can be assembled on the loom into bracelets and other shapes. The Rainbow Loom kit includes a pegboard, a rainbow loom hook, 24 special C-shaped clips to connect both ends of the bracelet, and 600 small rubber bands in assorted colors .
Rainbow Loom was created by Cheong Choon Ng, a Malaysian immigrant of Chinese descent who came to the United States in 1991 to attend Wichita State University, where he earned a graduate degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed as a crash-test engineer for Nissan Motor Company in 2010. He conceived the idea of a toy loom for rubber-band crafting after seeing his young daughters make rubber-band bracelets. He tried to show them how they could link the rubber bands together but was unsuccessful, so he stuck a scrapboard with multiple rows of pushpins on which the bands can then be linked more easily.
A loom is a device used to weave cloth and tapestry. The basic purpose of any loom is to hold the warp threads under tension to facilitate the interweaving of the weft threads. The precise shape of the loom and its mechanics may vary, but the basic function is the same.
The word "loom" is derived from the Old English "geloma" formed from ge-(perfective prefix) and loma, a root of unknown origin; this meant utensil or tool or machine of any kind. In 1404 it was used to mean a machine to enable weaving thread into cloth. By 1838 it had gained the meaning of a machine for interlacing thread.
Weaving is done by intersecting the longitudinal threads, the warp, i.e. "that which is thrown across", with the transverse threads, the weft, i.e. "that which is woven".
The major components of the loom are the warp beam, heddles, harnesses or shafts (as few as two, four is common, sixteen not unheard of), shuttle, reed and takeup roll. In the loom, yarn processing includes shedding, picking, battening and taking-up operations. These are the principal motions.
A rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of a multicoloured arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.
Rainbows can be full circles; however, the average observer sees only an arc formed by illuminated droplets above the ground, and centred on a line from the sun to the observer's eye.
In a primary rainbow, the arc shows red on the outer part and violet on the inner side. This rainbow is caused by light being refracted when entering a droplet of water, then reflected inside on the back of the droplet and refracted again when leaving it.
In a double rainbow, a second arc is seen outside the primary arc, and has the order of its colours reversed, with red on the inner side of the arc.
A rainbow is not located at a specific distance from the observer, but comes from an optical illusion caused by any water droplets viewed from a certain angle relative to a light source. Thus, a rainbow is not an object and cannot be physically approached. Indeed, it is impossible for an observer to see a rainbow from water droplets at any angle other than the customary one of 42 degrees from the direction opposite the light source. Even if an observer sees another observer who seems "under" or "at the end of" a rainbow, the second observer will see a different rainbow—farther off—at the same angle as seen by the first observer.

The Loom is a Brooklyn-based indie rock band. Formed in New York City in 2006, the band consists of members playing a variety of instruments including guitars, mandolin, French horn, trumpet, banjo, ukulele, percussion, keyboards, and male/female vocals.
The band released their debut EP "At Last Light" in 2008 and subsequently went on tour and played Pop Montreal and CMJ Music Festivals. In early 2010 they completed their first full-length album entitled "Teeth", recorded at Maverick Studios in Chinatown, New York, with producer Allen Farmelo and mastered at Masterdisk Studios, with album artwork by Asthmatic Kitty artist DM Stith.
The Loom played 8 shows at SXSW Music Fest 2010, including the Muzzle of Bees Backyard Barbecue with Rural Alberta Advantage, The Love Language, and others. They were featured in Paste Magazine's "Best of What's Next", and of their live show The New Yorker said, "The beloved Loom...have lately been guiding their chamber-folk sound to decidedly louder sonic territory."

Voor deze armband gebruik ik 16 elastiekjes per kleur. Dus het hangt af van hoeveel kleuren je wilt gebruiken. Ik ga van rood, naar oranje, geel, groen, blauw, paars, roze en dan weer terug naar rood. Dus dat is 8 x 16 = 128. Een ander armbandje had ik meer elastiekjes gebruikt, iets van 144 maar dat was net iets te groot. Hangt dus van de grootte van je pols af! Superleuk idee waarvan al een Engelstalige video is. In het begin van de video zeg ik als trotse moeder dat mijn dochter van 8 dit zelf verzonnen heeft maar ik bedoel daarmee dat ze het idee op eigen wijze heeft ingevuld. Ik zeg in de video ook dat er al een Engelstalige video bestaat waar dit idee van afkomstig is. In de Engelstalige video wordt het bandje om de teen geloomed waardoor het te dik is voor kleine kinderteentjes. Door alleen een elastiekje te gebruiken kunnen kleine kinderen dit ook dragen en dus loopt mijn dochtertje van 3 nu ook trots door het huis te paraderen met haar knalroze loom-slippertjes zonder zool :-) In deze video gebruiken we per slipper 39 elastiekjes. Mijn dochter heeft haar slipper in eerste instantie gemaakt met een C-clip maar ik heb dat tijdens het filmen ...
