I get asked all the time why I hate Republicans. And given some of the videos I've posted bashing Republicans, I can see where they're coming from. I've either explicitly or implicitly said that they're racist, homophobic, bigoted, out of touch, and a whole bunch of other nasty things. But here's the thing: just because I have beef with the Republican Party doesn't mean I hate conservatives. In fact, I was raised on conservative values and keep many of them near and dear to my heart. So I thought I might post this video to clear the air a little bit. Yes, I hate the Republicans. But my beefs with the Republican Party are pretty well founded, I think. Hopefully you will too after you hear me out.

"House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) said Thursday that he was a “constitutional conservative” when it came to the freedom of the press, but he avoided criticizing President Donald Trump’s recent attacks on the press.
Trump said Wednesday that it was “disgusting” that the press could write anything, and separately pondered challenging the broadcasting licenses of news networks with whose coverage he disagreed.
Asked about the comments at a press briefing Thursday, Ryan joked to the reporter who brought up Trump’s comments: “Are you from NBC?”*

A former aide and speech writer to former president George W. Bush, Michael Gerson, wrote an op ed this week for the Washington Post where he gave the Republican party yet another stern warning about Donald Trump. And he said in simplest terms, "Now is the time to panic." But what separates Michael Gerson's piece from all of the other pieces that have been coming out in recent weeks about conservatives freaking out over what Donald Trump is doing to the party is that Gerson is not just worried about what Trump is doing to the Republican party. Gerson is worried about what Donald Trump is doing to the country.
Now, Michael Steele has come out and said ... he's the former chairman of the RNC ... and said that Donald Trump is threatening the future of the Republican Party. Joe Scarborough says that he left the Republican party because of Donald Trump. That's all well and good, but Gerson's right. It's not just about what he's doing to the Republican party. You've got to look beyond party identity at this point. It's about what he's doing to this country.
Now, to be fair, Gerson did talk about the damage Trump is causing to the Republican party, but that's more of a side note. The real problem is the damage he's doing to this country. It doesn't matter if he's a Republican or Democrat. We would be having these same conversations right now either way. 9 million children in this country lost funding for their health insurance program because of Donald Trump and the Republican controlled Congress. Trump just issued an executive order that's going to force millions of people off their health insurance plans because premiums are going to increase by 20 to 25% over the next year or so.
We have a military budget that's going through the roof, while at the same time, we can't afford to keep the Meals on Wheels program going. Yeah, we gave the military an extra $80 billion, but we're not going to worry about the elderly and people who are incapable of leaving their homes getting food. We just don't care about that.
That's not a left or a right issue at this point, folks, and I think that's what Gerson's trying to get at here. This is an issue of basic human decency. Children should be able to go to the doctor. It's as simple as that. Children should be able to afford the medication that they need. So should the elderly. The elderly do have a right to eat, unlike what some Republicans have said. And it all flows from Trump.
Trump is destroying more than just the Republican party at this point. It's the entire fabric of this country. This whole system of empathy that I thought we might've once had is being destroyed under Donald Trump, and that is what that former Bush speech writer was trying to point out.

Once upon a time, every student of history – and that meant pretty much everyone with a high school education – knew this: The Democratic Party was the party of slavery and Jim Crow, and the Republican Party was the party of emancipation and racial integration.
Democrats were the Confederacy and Republicans were the Union. Jim Crow Democrats were dominant in the South and socially tolerant Republicans were dominant in the North.
But then, in the 1960s and 70s, everything supposedly flipped: suddenly the Republicans became the racists and the Democrats became the champions of civil rights.
Fabricated by left-leaning academic elites and journalists, the story went like this: Republicans couldn't win a national election by appealing to the better nature of the country; they could only win by appealing to the worst. Attributed to Richard Nixon, the media's all-purpose bad guy, this came to be known as "The Southern Strategy."
It was very simple. Win elections by winning the South. And to win the South, appeal to racists. So, the Republicans, the party of Lincoln, were to now be labeled the party of rednecks.
But this story of the two parties switching identities is a myth. In fact, it's three myths wrapped into one false narrative.
Let's take a brief look at each myth in turn.
Myth Number One: In order to be competitive in the South, Republicans started to pander to white racists in the 1960s.
Fact: Republicans actually became competitive in the South as early as 1928, when Republican Herbert Hoover won over 47 percent of the South's popular vote against Democrat Al Smith. In 1952, Republican President Dwight Eisenhower won the southern states of Tennessee, Florida and Virginia. And in 1956, he picked up Louisiana, Kentucky and West Virginia, too. And that was after he supported the Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education that desegregated public schools; and after he sent the 101st Airborne to Little Rock Central High School to enforce integration.
Myth Number Two: Southern Democrats, angry with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, switched parties.
Fact: Of the 21 Democratic senators who opposed the Civil Rights Act, just one became a Republican. The other 20 continued to be elected as Democrats, or were replaced by other Democrats. On average, those 20 seats didn't go Republican for another two-and-a-half decades.
Myth Number Three: Since the implementation of the Southern Strategy, the Republicans have dominated the South.
Fact: Richard Nixon, the man who is often credited with creating the Southern Strategy, lost the Deep South in 1968. In contrast, Democrat Jimmy Carter nearly swept the region in 1976 - 12 years after the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And in 1992, over 28 years later, Democrat Bill Clinton won Georgia, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia. The truth is, Republicans didn't hold a majority of southern congressional seats until 1994, 30 years after the Civil Rights Act.

Donald Trump
Donald John Trump, Sr. (born June 14, 1946) is an American businessperson and media personality. Face the Nation is an American Sunday morning political interview show broadcast on the CBS television network. Created by Frank Stanton in 1954, it is one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television. The current moderator is John Dickerson, who succeeded long-time moderator Bob Schieffer beginning with the June 7, 2015, broadcast.
Overview
Each Sunday, the program's moderator interviews newsmakers on the latest political and socioeconomic issues, and delivers a short topical commentary at the end of the broadcast. The program generally broadcasts from CBS News' bureau in Washington, D.C. Guests include government leaders, politicians, and international figures in the news. CBS News correspondents and other contributors often engage the guests in a roundtable discussion focusing on current topics. Late Night with Seth Meyers
Late Night with Seth Meyers is an American late-night talk show hosted by Seth Meyers on NBC. The show premiered on February 24, 2014 and is produced by Broadway Video and Universal Television. It is the fourth incarnation of NBC's long-running Late Night franchise. The show also stars bandleader Fred Armisen and the 8-G Band, the show's house band. Late Night is produced by former Saturday Night Live producer Mike Shoemaker and executive-produced by Lorne Michaels. The show records from Studio 8G at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.
The program airs Monday through Thursday nights at 12:37 a.m. ET/PT. The show opens with Meyers' topical monologue, which he delivers from his desk. The program also contains comedy bits, sketches, interviews with a myriad of guests, and occasionally a musical or comedy performance. The show attracts an average of 1.5 million viewers nightly.

The show opens with Ron McClary proclaiming "From 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York, it's Late Night with Seth Meyers!" and announcing that night’s guests and The 8G Band with Fred Armisen, or guest musicians, including Jeremy Gara, Jon Theodore, Chad Smith, etc. Ron introduces Seth with "Ladies and gentlemen, Seth Meyers." Previously, the introduction to Seth was "And now here he is, Seth Meyers!". Meyers performs a monologue from his desk based around recent news, punctuating jokes with on-screen images and video. For the first year and a half of the program, Meyers performed a traditional stand-up monologue, before changing to a format he felt more comfortable in. His opening monologue has been described as reminiscent of his tenure hosting the Weekend Update segment of Saturday Night Live. The show's guests often include celebrities and actors, literary figures, people in fashion, artists, athletes, and politicians.

Bush, Michael Gerson, wrote an op ed this week for the Washington Post where he gave the Republican party yet another stern warning about Donald Trump. And he said in simplest terms, "Now is the time to panic." But what separates Michael Gerson's piece from all of the other pieces that have been coming out in recent weeks about conservatives freaking out over what Donald Trump is doing to the party is that Gerson is not just worried about what Trump is doing to the Republican party. Gerson is worried about what Donald Trump is doing to the country. Now, Michael Steele has come out and said ... he's the former chairman of the RNC ... and said that Donald Trump is threatening the future of the Republican Party. Joe Scarborough says that he left the Republican party because of Donald Trump. That's all well and good, but Gerson's right. It's not just about what he's doing to the Republican party. You've got to look beyond party identity at this point. It's about what he's doing to this country. Now, to be fair, Gerson did talk about the damage Trump is causing to the Republican party, but that's more of a side note. The real problem is the damage he's doing to this country. It doesn't matter if he's a Republican or Democrat. We would be having these same conversations right now either way. 9 million children in this country lost funding for their health insurance program because of Donald Trump and the Republican controlled Congress. Trump just issued an executive order that's going to force millions of people off their health insurance plans because premiums are going to increase by 20 to 25% over the next year or so. We have a military budget that's going through the roof, while at the same time, we can't afford to keep the Meals on Wheels program going. Yeah, we gave the military an extra $80 billion, but we're not going to worry about the elderly and people who are incapable of leaving their homes getting food. We just don't care about that. That's not a left or a right issue at this point, folks, and I think that's what Gerson's trying to get at here. This is an issue of basic human decency. Children should be able to go to the doctor. It's as simple as that. Children should be able to afford the medication that they need. So should the elderly. The elderly do have a right to eat, unlike what some Republicans have said. And it all flows from Trump. Trump is destroying more than just the Republican party at this point. It's the entire fabric of this country. This whole system of empathy that I thought we might've once had is being destroyed under Donald Trump, and that is what that former Bush speech writer was trying to point out. -

Democrats were the Confederacy and Republicans were the Union. Jim Crow Democrats were dominant in the South and socially tolerant Republicans were dominant in the North. But then, in the 1960s and 70s, everything supposedly flipped: suddenly the Republicans became the racists and the Democrats became the champions of civil rights. Fabricated by left-leaning academic elites and journalists, the story went like this: Republicans couldn't win a national election by appealing to the better nature of the country; they could only win by appealing to the worst. Attributed to Richard Nixon, the media's all-purpose bad guy, this came to be known as "The Southern Strategy." It was very simple. Win elections by winning the South. And to win the South, appeal to racists. So, the Republicans, the party of Lincoln, were to now be labeled the party of rednecks. But this story of the two parties switching identities is a myth. In fact, it's three myths wrapped into one false narrative. Let's take a brief look at each myth in turn. Myth Number One: In order to be competitive in the South, Republicans started to pander to white racists in the 1960s. Fact: Republicans actually became competitive in the South as early as 1928, when Republican Herbert Hoover won over 47 percent of the South's popular vote against Democrat Al Smith. In 1952, Republican President Dwight Eisenhower won the southern states of Tennessee, Florida and Virginia. And in 1956, he picked up Louisiana, Kentucky and West Virginia, too. And that was after he supported the Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education that desegregated public schools; and after he sent the 101st Airborne to Little Rock Central High School to enforce integration. Myth Number Two: Southern Democrats, angry with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, switched parties. Fact: Of the 21 Democratic senators who opposed the Civil Rights Act, just one became a Republican. The other 20 continued to be elected as Democrats, or were replaced by other Democrats. On average, those 20 seats didn't go Republican for another two-and-a-half decades. Myth Number Three: Since the implementation of the Southern Strategy, the Republicans have dominated the South. Fact: Richard Nixon, the man who is often credited with creating the Southern Strategy, lost the Deep South in 1968. In contrast, Democrat Jimmy Carter nearly swept the region in 1976 - 12 years after the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And in 1992, over 28 years later, Democrat Bill Clinton won Georgia, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia. The truth is, Republicans didn't hold a majority of southern congressional seats until 1994, 30 years after the Civil Rights Act. Republican Senator Bob Corker from the state of Tennessee announced recently that he would not be seeking reelection to the US Senate. As such, he has taken this opportunity, knowing that he doesn't have to go face his constituents again or deal with the wrath of any sitting Republican politician, he's using this opportunity to come clean about what Republicans in Washington, DC really think about Donald Trump. According to a recent interview that Corker gave to the New York Times, Republicans in DC behind the scenes are talking constantly about the fact that Donald Trump is unfit to be the president of the United States. Again, Corker's free to say this now because he doesn't have to worry about Trump's wrath. He doesn't have to worry about the Trump supporters back in his home state of Tennessee because he's not going to run for office again, so he can finally come clean and tell the truth about what Republicans are actually saying about Donald Trump in Washington, DC. Here's why this matters. First of all, the majority of people in this country believe that Donald Trump is unfit to serve as president of the United States. The majority of the public does not trust him at all. They do not trust him on national security. They do not trust him to handle the North Korea situation, and they do not trust him to handle any disasters here in the United States because he's proven that he's going to screw up every single one of those things because he's already screwed up every single one of those things. Corker's statement might give some of these Republicans in DC the clearance, the back-up support to come forward and publicly admit that Donald Trump is unfit to serve for office, but more importantly, it might give them enough courage to invoke the 25th Amendment and attempt to remove Donald Trump from office in a way that doesn't even involve impeachment and has nothing to do with the Bob Mueller special prosecutor investigation. They could do it today, because there is no way that Donald Trump would be able to come back and fully prove that he is mentally capable and perfectly fit to serve as president of the United States. The evidence against him is overwhelming, the wildfires in California, the flooding in Houston, the hurricanes in Puerto Rico. The evidence is there, if Republicans chose to move on it. But here's the thing. They won't. How do we know? Well, let's take a look at Lindsey Graham, one of the most vocal Donald Trump critics in Washington, DC, allegedly, who spent the weekend playing golf with the president. Then he got on Twitter, did an interview, talked about the fact Donald Trump shot a 73 in windy conditions. What an amazing person. I love him so much. He's so great. Graham was supposed to be some kind of anti-Trump super Republican? No. Those don't exist. Republicans are talking a big game in public because they understand that the public doesn't like Donald Trump, but at the end of the day they're going to side with him every single time they get the opportunity. Corker has as well. It's refreshing to hear Corker come out and admit that Republicans are saying all these things, but don't think for a second that any of them are actually going to act on it. -

I get asked all the time why I hate Republicans. And given some of the videos I've posted bashing Republicans, I can see where they're coming from. I've either explicitly or implicitly said that they're racist, homophobic, bigoted, out of touch, and a whole bunch of other nasty things. But here's the thing: just because I have beef with the Republican Party doesn't mean I hate conservatives. I get asked all the time why I hate Republicans. And given some of the videos I've posted bashing Republicans, I can see where they're coming from. I've either explicitly or implicitly said that they're racist, homophobic, bigoted, out of touch, and a whole bunch of other nasty things. But here's the thing: just because I have beef with the Republican Party doesn't mean I hate conservatives. In fact, I was raised on conservative values and keep many of them near and dear to my heart. So I thought I might post this video to clear the air a little bit. Yes, I hate the Republicans. But my beefs with the Republican Party are pretty well founded, I think. Hopefully you will too after you hear me out.

Trump said Wednesday that it was “disgusting” that the press could write anything, and separately pondered challenging the broadcasting licenses of news networks with whose coverage he disagreed.

A former aide and speech writer to former president George W. Bush, Michael Gerson, wrote an op ed this week for the Washington Post where he gave the Republican party yet another stern warning about Donald Trump. And he said in simplest terms, "Now is the time to panic." But what separates Michael Gerson's piece from all of the other pieces that have been coming out in recent weeks about conservatives freaking out over what Donald Trump is doing to the party is that Gerson is not just worried about what Trump is doing to the Republican party. Gerson is worried about what Donald Trump is doing to the country.
Now, Michael Steele has come out and said ... he's the former chairman of the RNC ... and said that Donald Trump is threatening the future of the Republican Party. Joe Scarborough says that he left the Republican party because of Donald Trump. That's all well and good, but Gerson's right. It's not just about what he's doing to the Republican party. You've got to look beyond party identity at this point. It's about what he's doing to this country.
Now, to be fair, Gerson did talk about the damage Trump is causing to the Republican party, but that's more of a side note. The real problem is the damage he's doing to this country. It doesn't matter if he's a Republican or Democrat. We would be having these same conversations right now either way. 9 million children in this country lost funding for their health insurance program because of Donald Trump and the Republican controlled Congress. Trump just issued an executive order that's going to force millions of people off their health insurance plans because premiums are going to increase by 20 to 25% over the next year or so.
We have a military budget that's going through the roof, while at the same time, we can't afford to keep the Meals on Wheels program going. Yeah, we gave the military an extra $80 billion, but we're not going to worry about the elderly and people who are incapable of leaving their homes getting food. We just don't care about that.
That's not a left or a right issue at this point, folks, and I think that's what Gerson's trying to get at here. This is an issue of basic human decency. Children should be able to go to the doctor. It's as simple as that. Children should be able to afford the medication that they need. So should the elderly. The elderly do have a right to eat, unlike what some Republicans have said. And it all flows from Trump.
Trump is destroying more than just the Republican party at this point. It's the entire fabric of this country. This whole system of empathy that I thought we might've once had is being destroyed under Donald Trump, and that is what that former Bush speech writer was trying to point out.

Once upon a time, every student of history – and that meant pretty much everyone with a high school education – knew this: The Democratic Party was the party of slavery and Jim Crow, and the Republican Party was the party of emancipation and racial integration.
Democrats were the Confederacy and Republicans were the Union. Jim Crow Democrats were dominant in the South and socially tolerant Republicans were dominant in the North.
But then, in the 1960s and 70s, everything supposedly flipped: suddenly the Republicans became the racists and the Democrats became the champions of civil rights.
Fabricated by left-leaning academic elites and journalists, the story went like this: Republicans couldn't win a national election by appealing to the better nature of the country; they could only win by appealing to the worst. Attributed to Richard Nixon, the media's all-purpose bad guy, this came to be known as "The Southern Strategy."
It was very simple. Win elections by winning the South. And to win the South, appeal to racists. So, the Republicans, the party of Lincoln, were to now be labeled the party of rednecks.
But this story of the two parties switching identities is a myth. In fact, it's three myths wrapped into one false narrative.
Let's take a brief look at each myth in turn.
Myth Number One: In order to be competitive in the South, Republicans started to pander to white racists in the 1960s.
Fact: Republicans actually became competitive in the South as early as 1928, when Republican Herbert Hoover won over 47 percent of the South's popular vote against Democrat Al Smith. In 1952, Republican President Dwight Eisenhower won the southern states of Tennessee, Florida and Virginia. And in 1956, he picked up Louisiana, Kentucky and West Virginia, too. And that was after he supported the Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education that desegregated public schools; and after he sent the 101st Airborne to Little Rock Central High School to enforce integration.
Myth Number Two: Southern Democrats, angry with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, switched parties.
Fact: Of the 21 Democratic senators who opposed the Civil Rights Act, just one became a Republican. The other 20 continued to be elected as Democrats, or were replaced by other Democrats. On average, those 20 seats didn't go Republican for another two-and-a-half decades.
Myth Number Three: Since the implementation of the Southern Strategy, the Republicans have dominated the South.
Fact: Richard Nixon, the man who is often credited with creating the Southern Strategy, lost the Deep South in 1968. In contrast, Democrat Jimmy Carter nearly swept the region in 1976 - 12 years after the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And in 1992, over 28 years later, Democrat Bill Clinton won Georgia, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia. The truth is, Republicans didn't hold a majority of southern congressional seats until 1994, 30 years after the Civil Rights Act.

Republican Senator Bob Corker from the state of Tennessee announced recently that he would not be seeking reelection to the US Senate. As such, he has taken this opportunity, knowing that he doesn't have to go face his constituents again or deal with the wrath of any sitting Republican politician, he's using this opportunity to come clean about what Republicans in Washington, DC really think about Donald Trump. According to a recent interview that Corker gave to the New York Times, Republicans in DC behind the scenes are talking constantly about the fact that Donald Trump is unfit to be the president of the United States.
Again, Corker's free to say this now because he doesn't have to worry about Trump's wrath. He doesn't have to worry about the Trump supporters back in his home state of Tennessee because he's not going to run for office again, so he can finally come clean and tell the truth about what Republicans are actually saying about Donald Trump in Washington, DC. Here's why this matters. First of all, the majority of people in this country believe that Donald Trump is unfit to serve as president of the United States. The majority of the public does not trust him at all. They do not trust him on national security. They do not trust him to handle the North Korea situation, and they do not trust him to handle any disasters here in the United States because he's proven that he's going to screw up every single one of those things because he's already screwed up every single one of those things.
Corker's statement might give some of these Republicans in DC the clearance, the back-up support to come forward and publicly admit that Donald Trump is unfit to serve for office, but more importantly, it might give them enough courage to invoke the 25th Amendment and attempt to remove Donald Trump from office in a way that doesn't even involve impeachment and has nothing to do with the Bob Mueller special prosecutor investigation. They could do it today, because there is no way that Donald Trump would be able to come back and fully prove that he is mentally capable and perfectly fit to serve as president of the United States. The evidence against him is overwhelming, the wildfires in California, the flooding in Houston, the hurricanes in Puerto Rico. The evidence is there, if Republicans chose to move on it.
But here's the thing. They won't. How do we know? Well, let's take a look at Lindsey Graham, one of the most vocal Donald Trump critics in Washington, DC, allegedly, who spent the weekend playing golf with the president. Then he got on Twitter, did an interview, talked about the fact Donald Trump shot a 73 in windy conditions. What an amazing person. I love him so much. He's so great. Graham was supposed to be some kind of anti-Trump super Republican? No. Those don't exist. Republicans are talking a big game in public because they understand that the public doesn't like Donald Trump, but at the end of the day they're going to side with him every single time they get the opportunity. Corker has as well. It's refreshing to hear Corker come out and admit that Republicans are saying all these things, but don't think for a second that any of them are actually going to act on it.

Republicans are backing up the president this time, but the GOP proved so many times to be the unserious political party with members who are not loyal to the greater cause of the party’s ideology AT ALL.
