Human resources is the set of individuals who make up the workforce of an organization, business sector, or economy. "Human capital" is sometimes used synonymously with human resources, although human capital typically refers to a more narrow view (i.e., the knowledge the individuals embody and economic growth). Likewise, other terms sometimes used include "manpower", "talent", "labour", or simply "people".
Staffing is a process of hiring, positioning and overseeing employees in an organisation.
Pioneering economist John R. Commons used the term "human resource" in his 1893 book The Distribution of Wealth but did not further build upon it. The term "human resource" was subsequently in use during the 1910s and 1920s as was the notion that workers could be seen as a kind of capital asset. Among scholars the first use of "human resources" in its modern form was in a 1958 report by economist E. Wight Bakke. The term began to become more developed in the 19th century due to misunderstandings between the employers and employees.
Human resources is the group of individuals who make up the workforce of an organization.
Human resource may also refer to:
In organizational studies, resource management is the efficient and effective development of an organization's resources when they are needed. Such resources may include financial resources, inventory, human skills, production resources, or information technology (IT).
In the realm of project management, processes, techniques and philosophies as to the best approach for allocating resources have been developed. These include discussions on functional vs. cross-functional resource allocation as well as processes espoused by organizations like the Project Management Institute (PMI) through their Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) methodology of project management. Resource management is a key element to activity resource estimating and project human resource management. Both are essential components of a comprehensive project management plan to execute and monitor a project successfully. As is the case with the larger discipline of project management, there are resource management software tools available that automate and assist the process of resource allocation to projects and portfolio resource transparency including supply and demand of resources. The goal of these tools typically is to ensure that: (i) there are employees within our organization with required specific skill set and desired profile required for a project, (ii) decide the number and skill sets of new employees to hire, and (iii) allocate the workforce to various projects.
Human resource management (HRM, or simply HR) is a function in organizations designed to maximize employee performance in service of an employer's strategic objectives. HR is primarily concerned with the management of people within organizations, focusing on policies and on systems. HR departments and units in organizations typically undertake a number of activities, including employee benefits design employee recruitment, "training and development", performance appraisal, and rewarding (e.g., managing pay and benefit systems). HR also concerns itself with industrial relations, that is, the balancing of organizational practices with requirements arising from collective bargaining and from governmental laws. According to R. Buettner, HRM covers the following core areas:
HR is a product of the human relations movement of the early 20th century, when researchers began documenting ways of creating business value through the strategic management of the workforce. The function was initially dominated by transactional work, such as payroll and benefits administration, but due to globalization, company consolidation, technological advances, and further research, HR as of 2015 focuses on strategic initiatives like mergers and acquisitions, talent management, succession planning, industrial and labor relations, and diversity and inclusion.
Modern humans (Homo sapiens, primarily ssp. Homo sapiens sapiens) are the only extant members of Hominina clade (or human clade), a branch of the taxonomical tribe Hominini belonging to the family of great apes. They are characterized by erect posture and bipedal locomotion, manual dexterity and increased tool use, and a general trend toward larger, more complex brains and societies.
Early hominins—particularly the australopithecines, whose brains and anatomy are in many ways more similar to ancestral non-human apes—are less often referred to as "human" than hominins of the genus Homo. Some of the latter used fire, occupied much of Eurasia, and gave rise to anatomically modern Homo sapiens in Africa about 200,000 years ago. They began to exhibit evidence of behavioral modernity around 50,000 years ago, and migrated in successive waves to occupy all but the smallest, driest, and coldest lands.
The spread of humans and their large and increasing population has had a profound impact on large areas of the environment and millions of native species worldwide. Advantages that explain this evolutionary success include a relatively larger brain with a particularly well-developed neocortex, prefrontal cortex and temporal lobes, which enable high levels of abstract reasoning, language, problem solving, sociality, and culture through social learning. Humans use tools to a much higher degree than any other animal, are the only extant species known to build fires and cook their food, and are the only extant species to clothe themselves and create and use numerous other technologies and arts.

In the beginning, the role of your HR team was largely functional. It was centered around payroll, leave, policy making and training. Recruitment generally meant putting an ad in the paper and hoping for the best, or hiring a recruiter. Then things changed. Technology and social media happened and as a result, your role as the head of HR began to evolve. The employer brand was born. Recruitment began to change too. Technology opened up a whole new world of talent, it was a game changer. As the head of HR, you now also need to be a communications expert and motivator. Today, the role of HR in an organisation is no longer functional, it is transformational. As your partners at LinkedIn, we are here to provide you with just the tools and insights you need to get the job done. See mor...

My mouth is empty
There's nothing left to say
Was it that easy
To let me fade away
Yah, love is blind
But who needs eyes to taste
He's got these anger eyes
On a devil's face
A tortured soul
Dressed up in lace
If loves a crime
She's got some time to face
Well, I've been trying to get this off my chest
While hanging on to the moments we have left
I'll keep my tongue between my teeth
And bottle these words inside of me
I know it's nothing new
Yeah, I know we're through
But I'm still a fool for you
This head is heavy
I feel the flames within
But strong, and steady
I'll smile to pretend
Yah, fate exists
With balled up fists towards me
I've got these beggar palms
Hid in golden gloves
I'm on my knees
Decayed by love
If change is good
I'd like to meet someone that could
Well, I've been dying to taste this bitter end
While trying hard just to wash you off my skin
I'll keep my tongue between my teeth
And bottle these words inside of me
I know it's nothing new
Yeah, I know we're through
But I'm still a fool for you
I'll keep my tongue between my teeth
And bottle these words inside of me
I know it's nothing new
Yeah, I know we're through
But I'm still a fool for you
I'll keep my tongue between my teeth
And bottle these words inside of me
I know it's nothing new
Yeah, I knew we're through
But I'm still a fool for you
