A centenarian is a person who lives to or beyond the age of 100 years. Because life expectancies everywhere are less than 100, the term is invariably associated with longevity. A supercentenarian is a person who has lived to the age of 110 or more, something only achieved by about one in 1,000 centenarians. Even rarer is a person who has lived to age 115 – there are only 39 people in recorded history who have indisputably reached this age, of whom only Susannah Mushatt Jones, Emma Morano-Martinuzzi, Violet Brown and Nabi Tajima are still living. In 2012, the United Nations estimated that there were 316,600 living centenarians worldwide. As life expectancy is increasing across the world, and the world population has also increased rapidly, the number of centenarians is expected to rise fast in the future. According to the UK ONS, one-third of babies born in 2013 in the UK are expected to live to 100.
The United States currently has the greatest number of known centenarians of any nation with 53,364 according to the 2010 Census, or 17.3 per 100,000 people. In 2010, 82.8% of US centenarians were female.Japan has the second-largest number of centenarians, with an estimated 51,376 as of September 2012, and the highest proportion of centenarians at 34.85 per 100,000 people. Japan started recording its centenarians in 1963. The number of Japanese centenarians in that year was 153, but surpassed the 10,000 mark in 1998; 20,000 in 2003; and 40,000 in 2009. According to a 1998 United Nations demographic survey, Japan is expected to have 272,000 centenarians by 2050; other sources suggest that the number could be closer to 1 million. The incidence of centenarians in Japan was one per 3,522 people in 2008.
Kirk Douglas (born Issur Danielovitch; December 9, 1916) is an American retired actor, producer, director, and author. After an impoverished childhood with immigrant parents and six sisters, he had his film debut in The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946) with Barbara Stanwyck. Douglas soon developed into a leading box-office star throughout the 1950s and 1960s, known for serious dramas, including westerns and war movies. During a sixty-year acting career, he has appeared in over 90 movies, and in 1960 was responsible for helping to end the Hollywood blacklist.
In 1949, after a lead role as an unscrupulous boxing hero in Champion, for which he was nominated as Best Actor, Douglas became a star. His style of acting relied on expressing great concentration, realism, and powerful emotions, and he subsequently gravitated toward roles requiring strong characters. Among his early films were Young Man with a Horn, playing opposite Lauren Bacall (1950), Billy Wilder's controversial Ace in the Hole (1951), and Detective Story (1951). He received a second Oscar nomination for his dramatic role in The Bad and the Beautiful (1952), where he played opposite Lana Turner. His powerful acting performance as Vincent van Gogh in Lust for Life (1956) is considered one of his finest roles. He is among the last surviving stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
"The One Hundredth" (also known as "The One With The Triplets") is the third episode of Friends' fifth season and 100th episode overall. It first aired on the NBC network in the United States on October 8, 1998. Continuing from the previous episode, the group arrive at the hospital after Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) goes into labor. Meanwhile, Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) tries to set Monica (Courteney Cox) and herself up with two male nurses, which causes problems between Monica and Chandler (Matthew Perry).
The episode was directed by Kevin S. Bright and co-written by series creators David Crane & Marta Kauffman. The producers wanted to mark the landmark episode with a major event, choosing to bring a culmination to Phoebe's surrogacy storyline. Earlier scripts had the character insistent on keeping hold of the babies, with the writers later deciding it would better off having a sendoff, to keep it dramatic. In its original broadcast on NBC, "The One Hundredth" acquired a 17.7 Nielsen rating, finishing the week ranked second and received good reviews since airing.

Irene Crump and Phyllis Jones celebrate their 100th birthdays with cards from the Queen and a pub visit. The non-identical pair were born 25 minutes apart and put their longevity down to “hard work and good food”. The twins, both widows, have lived together in Stourport, Worcs, for five years. They marked the day with a roast at their local with 48 friends and family. Irene, the younger of the two, said: “We often celebrate our special birthdays together, and we had a lovely day. “We celebrated our 90th together, and last year we celebrated our 99th birthday too. “Hard work and good food is our secret, that’s all I can put it down to.” The twins have each other’s first name for their middle name and say they have always been close. The pair can’t remember how much they weighed when...

George Burns (January 20, 1896 – March 9, 1996), born Nathan Birnbaum, was an American comedian, actor, singer and writer. So he was 83 yrs. old in 1978 but we can forgive him because he did make it to 100 yrs. old, he was just too weak to entertain us. From WIKIPEDEA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Burns “When Burns was 96, he had signed a lifetime contract with Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas to perform stand-up comedy there, which included the guarantee of a show on his centenary, January 20, 1996. When that day actually came however, he was too weak to deliver the planned performance. He released a statement joking how he would love for his 100th birthday to be "a night with Sharon Stone". On March 9, 1996, 49 days after his centenary, Burns died in his Beverly Hills home of card...

It's my thirty fifth birthday
I've got no plans today
'cause it fell on a Monday
I guess I'm lucky that way
So I'm calling in sick
I head for the fridge
There's a glass of champagne
That somebody hid
In the side of the door
With a note that said
Bore where does the time go
So where does the time go
Where does the time go
How every year shows
What nobody knows
It's my thirty fifth birthday
And the kitchen is cold
Like a leftover breakfast
That's a day too old
So I'm taking a walk
Along the street
People in cars that I'll never meet
Remember this time
Take every step slow
Where does the time go
Where does the time go
Where does the time go
How every year shows
What nobody knows
Where does the time go
