Just as important to towns like Grimsby that concentrate on fish processing but export most of it to the EU, is that a disorderly Brexit would put much of that in doubt. Brexit really is a curse on everything.

Loss of schools & jobs in the UK, if EU students cannot still come to learn English; loss of opportunities for UK migrants in EU to move from one country to another teaching English, or loss of their ability to work at all in host country if this right lost.

Two of the world's largest language school chains started in Amber Rudd's constituency and business is already losing out to Ireland and Malta. Fishermen here are loud but there are 1000s of local host families dependent on the EFL industry.

  8. How economically important do you think the fishing industry is to the UK? What do you think about people who don't speak English as their first language? How much do you think they contribute to the UK? 👇

EFL is a huge industry in all the EU countries. Native speaker UK people can use their FoM with ease, moving from one country to another or work across borders. Of course, the triumphant removal of FoM for all will scupper that.

There’s one manufacturing plant in my town that has a bigger impact on GDP than the fishing industry. No one cares because fishing and ‘taking back our waters’ gives gammons the chance to dream of the British Navy sinking encroaching French trawlers. Pharma or language don’t.

  11. When we joined the EEC, English replaced French as the language of European diplomacy. We pushed for the accession of the countries that had been behind the iron curtain. We were the architects of the Single Market. We transformed the EU. Why should we want to abandon it now?

Yes, why not talk about this rather than fish? And about the consequences of millions of British citizens losing their FOM?

  13. I just found out that the English as a Foreign Language industry in the UK is bigger than the fishing industry in the UK (£1.2bn to £936m). EFL will be devastated by Brexit. Why is no one talking about this?

Here is pioneering NHS transplant surgeon Paolo Muiesan quitting Britain after 26 years. Brexit has driven him away. When the NHS is *already* short of 10k doctors & 42k nurses. Johnson, Gove, Rees-Mogg, Raab - you are truly, stunningly selfish.
