Oliver Cromwell
Oliver Cromwell (25 April 1599 – 3 September 1658) was an English military and political leader and later Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland and Ireland.
Born into the middle gentry, albeit to a family descended from the sister of King Henry VIII's minister Thomas Cromwell, Cromwell was relatively obscure for the first 40 years of his life. After undergoing a religious conversion in the 1630s, he became an independent puritan, taking a generally tolerant view towards the many Protestant sects of his period. An intensely religious man—a self-styled Puritan Moses—he fervently believed that God was guiding his victories. He was elected Member of Parliament for Huntingdon in 1628 and for Cambridge in the Short (1640) and Long (1640–49) Parliaments. He entered the English Civil War on the side of the "Roundheads" or Parliamentarians. Nicknamed "Old Ironsides", he was quickly promoted from leading a single cavalry troop to become one of the principal commanders of the New Model Army, playing an important role in the defeat of the royalist forces.

Oliver Cromwell is regarded centuries on as a controversial figure in History. He was the man who defeated King Charles I during the English Civil War, and he led Parliament's Army. But after the victory, he was the driving force too behind the execution of King Charles I, who was beheaded by the axe in London. But after the monarchy was restored following Cromwell's death, his body was dug up and was posthumously executed when Charles II ordered the Regicides. His dead body was paraded throughout the streets of London before it was hanged in chains and then executed by the axe. Oliver Cromwell is regarded centuries on as a controversial figure in History. He was the man who defeated King Charles I during the English Civil War, and he led Parliament's Army. But after the victory, he was the driving force too behind the execution of King Charles I, who was beheaded by the axe in London. But after the monarchy was restored following Cromwell's death, his body was dug up and was posthumously executed when Charles II ordered the Regicides. His dead body was paraded throughout the streets of London before it was hanged in chains and then executed by the axe. After this, Cromwell's head was placed on a spike above Westminster Hall and it remained here for over 20 years.
But then his head went missing and it passed through the hands of many different people who owned it and brought it for money. Cromwell's head went on display in a circus exhibition and was owned by many different people, however it was eventually in the 20th century returned to his former site of study, Sussex Sidney college in Cambridge University. It was then buried and interred in a resting place. But Cromwell's head went on a crazy journey to finally lay to rest 300 years after it was initially buried.

Oliver Cromwell
Oliver Cromwell (25 April 1599 – 3 September 1658) was an English military and political leader and later Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland and Ireland.
Born into the middle gentry, albeit to a family descended from the sister of King Henry VIII's minister Thomas Cromwell, Cromwell was relatively obscure for the first 40 years of his life. After undergoing a religious conversion in the 1630s, he became an independent puritan, taking a generally tolerant view towards the many Protestant sects of his period. An intensely religious man—a self-styled Puritan Moses—he fervently believed that God was guiding his victories. He was elected Member of Parliament for Huntingdon in 1628 and for Cambridge in the Short (1640) and Long (1640–49) Parliaments. He entered the English Civil War on the side of the "Roundheads" or Parliamentarians. Nicknamed "Old Ironsides", he was quickly promoted from leading a single cavalry troop to become one of the principal commanders of the New Model Army, playing an important role in the defeat of the royalist forces.
