A trip to Ogunquit isn’t complete without an adventure in the arts! Start with the  Ogunquit Museum of American Art, started in the 1950s by homegrown artist Henry Strater, a student of Ogunquit’s famous artists’ colony nestled in Perkins Cove. Located just south of Perkins Cove on Shore Road and overlooking Narrow Cove, the beautiful gardens and breathtaking ocean views rival the renowned artwork and sculpture.

Today’s artists continue the tradition at the Barn Gallery on Shore Road at Bourne Lane. Home to exhibitions and programs by members of Ogunquit Art Association and other local artists from spring through fall, you’ll find art for every taste - contemporary, classic, sculpture, photography, and more. Many pieces are for sale – perfect for an Ogunquit memory and all are produced by the thriving art community still active in Ogunquit today. An artists’ retreat to such names as Charles Woodbury and Hamilton Easter Field, one can spend countless hours viewing the galleries around town. Throughout the summer and fall, street art fairs make it easy to find the perfect expression of what Maine and Ogunquit mean to you.

Beyond the canvas, live theatre at the Ogunquit Playhouse brings Broadway to the Beach each season from May to October. With over 80 years of professional theatre and summertime children’s productions, the Ogunquit Playhouse is a destination for the entire family. Ogunquit has always been an arts-lovers destination. From the sheer beauty of the white sandy beaches and the dramatic cliffs of Marginal Way to the picturesque fishermen’s harbor at Perkins Cove – all make Ogunquit a memorable experience for the artist in all of us!
