Snakes are a creature that are as old as time itself. Whether being showcased in the bible as the devil, in mythology as symbols of fertility, worshiped in religious ceremonies in different cultures, used in medicinal literature, eaten as a delicacy, and in most cases are generally feared as a killer.

In Australia exist some of the deadliest creatures known to man… but also the snake considered to be the most toxic and deadly in the world, the taipan. Estimates say that the venom in a single taipan has the capability of killing 100 men alone, so how would that venom fair against a young teenager?

Dusty the golden retriever
Dusty was a happy golden retriever living a great life in the Montana wilderness when he was suddenly struck by misfortune. Dogs typically aren’t very afraid to investigate what they find while romping around in the grass, and when dusty got curious with a rattlesnake, it left him laying in a creek convulsing and on the verge of death. Dusty was bitten on his paw, and then collapsed.

Every day people aren’t the only ones who encounter snakes, as evidenced by country music star Kevin Fowler and his campaign to prove to people that sometimes, killing a snake is a justified event. Fowler is from Texas… and in Texas the rattlesnake is revered as one of the most common and most dangerous reptiles crawling around. In fact, rattlesnakes account for the majority of snake bites and bite related deaths due to snakes in the United states alone.

AN AMATEUR scientist can shockingly take back-to-back bites from the world’s deadliest snakes on purpose and claims to be making himself immune from their venom. Divorced Tim Friede, 37, has self-inflicted more than 160 bites in 16 years of research and is hoping his experiments will help to develop a human vaccine for snake bites.To prove his self-immunisation theory works, Tim from Wisconsin, USA, recently took back-to-back bites from two of the world’s deadliest snakes – a taipan and a black mamba whose bite can kill in minutes. Unsurprisingly, his obsession with saving the tens of thousands of lives lost every year to snakebites has nearly killed him on a number of occasions and also cost him his marriage. His wife Beth Friede, 35, divorced him in October after 20 years together when she finally had enough of Tim’s snake obsession. Despite the controversial nature of his experiments Tim does have some backing from the scientific community. Dr Brian Hanley, a PhD Microbiologist from the University of California, says a test suggests Tim now has twice the number of antibodies and hopes his company Butterfly Sciences will help him develop his vaccine and find investors to get it into the field.

Snakebite
A snakebite is an injury caused by the bite of a snake. It often results in two puncture wounds from the animal's fangs. Sometimes poisoning from the bite may occur. This may result in redness, swelling, and severe pain at the area, which may take up to an hour to appear. Vomiting, trouble seeing, tingling of the limbs, and sweating may result. Most bites are on the hands or arms.Fear following a bite is common with symptoms of a racing heart and feeling faint. The venom may cause bleeding, kidney failure, a severe allergic reaction, tissue death around the bite, or breathing problems. Bites may result in the loss of a limb or other chronic problems. The outcome depends on the type of snake, the area of the body bitten, the amount of venom injected, and the health conditions of the person. Problems are often worse in children than adults.
Snakes bite both as a method of hunting and as a means of protection. Risk factors for bites include working outside with one's hand such as in farming, forestry, and construction. Snakes commonly involved in poisonings include the elapids, vipers, and sea snakes. The majority of snake species do not have venom and kill their prey by squeezing them.Venomous snakes can be found on every continent except Antarctica. Determining the type of snake that caused a bite is often not possible. The World Health Organisation lists snakebite as a neglected disease.

Brian
Brian (sometimes spelled Bryan) is a male given name of Irish and Breton origin, as well as a surname of Occitan origin. It is common in the English-speaking world. It is possible that the name is derived from an Old Celtic word meaning "high" or "noble". For example, the element bre means "hill"; which could be transferred to mean "eminence" or "exalted one". Divorced Tim Friede, 37, has self-inflicted more than 160 bites in 16 years of research and is hoping his experiments will help to develop a human vaccine for snake bites.To prove his self-immunisation theory works, Tim from Wisconsin, USA, recently took back-to-back bites from two of the world’s deadliest snakes – a taipan and a black mamba whose bite can kill in minutes. Unsurprisingly, his obsession with saving the tens of thousands of lives lost every year to snakebites has nearly killed him on a number of occasions and also cost him his marriage. His wife Beth Friede, 35, divorced him in October after 20 years together when she finally had enough of Tim’s snake obsession. Despite the controversial nature of his experiments Tim does have some backing from the scientific community. Dr Brian Hanley, a PhD Microbiologist from the University of California, says a test suggests Tim now has twice the number of antibodies and hopes his company Butterfly Sciences will help him develop his vaccine and find investors to get it into the field. In Australia exist some of the deadliest creatures known to man… but also the snake considered to be the most toxic and deadly in the world, the taipan. Estimates say that the venom in a single taipan has the capability of killing 100 men alone, so how would that venom fair against a young teenager?

Australia also ironically has the second most deadly snake in the world, the brown snake. Which is exactly what bit Janice Taylor almost killing her. When initially bit, Janice thought she had simply been the victim of a spiders aggressiveness and went on with her plans.. until she passed out face first to the ground. After being rushed to the hospital with her face swollen and blood beginning to leak out of her body due to the snakes blood thinning agents in its toxin…
Dusty the golden retriever
Dusty was a happy golden retriever living a great life in the Montana wilderness when he was suddenly struck by misfortune. Dogs typically aren’t very afraid to investigate what they find while romping around in the grass, and when dusty got curious with a rattlesnake, it left him laying in a creek convulsing and on the verge of death. Dusty was bitten on his paw, and then collapsed.

One little boy is sleeping well in his bed at night in Seveirville Tennessee because of the actions of his beloved pet, Shiloh. 18 month old Bryson Holloway had just stepped off the porch of his family home when a copperhead snake emerged from a nearby bush and began to make a b line for the young child.

Every day people aren’t the only ones who encounter snakes, as evidenced by country music star Kevin Fowler and his campaign to prove to people that sometimes, killing a snake is a justified event. Fowler is from Texas… and in Texas the rattlesnake is revered as one of the most common and most dangerous reptiles crawling around. Every day people aren’t the only ones who encounter snakes, as evidenced by country music star Kevin Fowler and his campaign to prove to people that sometimes, killing a snake is a justified event. Fowler is from Texas… and in Texas the rattlesnake is revered as one of the most common and most dangerous reptiles crawling around. In fact, rattlesnakes account for the majority of snake bites and bite related deaths due to snakes in the United states alone.

AN AMATEUR scientist can shockingly take back-to-back bites from the world’s deadliest snakes on purpose and claims to be making himself immune from their venom. Divorced Tim Friede, 37, has self-inflicted more than 160 bites in 16 years of research and is hoping his experiments will help to develop a human vaccine for snake bites.To prove his self-immunisation theory works, Tim from Wisconsin, USA, recently took back-to-back bites from two of the world’s deadliest snakes – a taipan and a black mamba whose bite can kill in minutes. Unsurprisingly, his obsession with saving the tens of thousands of lives lost every year to snakebites has nearly killed him on a number of occasions and also cost him his marriage. His wife Beth Friede, 35, divorced him in October after 20 years together when she finally had enough of Tim’s snake obsession. Despite the controversial nature of his experiments Tim does have some backing from the scientific community. Dr Brian Hanley, a PhD Microbiologist from the University of California, says a test suggests Tim now has twice the number of antibodies and hopes his company Butterfly Sciences will help him develop his vaccine and find investors to get it into the field.
