Shares shrug off another positive offshore lead to record widespread losses, led by selling in the major banks and supermarket owners.

RBA holds rates steady at 1.5%

Philip Lowe, governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia, is yet to move rates in his tenure.

The RBA has kept rates steady at their historical low of 1.5 per cent, as widely expected, while offering little to encourage talk the central bank will hike in 2018.
