Synopsis
1. The Oncoming Storm by Phil Mulryne
Late 1939. Britain faces the might of Germany. Winston Churchill serves as First Lord of the Admiralty. But Churchill soon finds himself facing a more immediate threat than the looming Nazi menace. A ‘Stone’ with the most mysterious properties is discovered in the Thames’ sands, and soon oddly spoken soldiers are creeping round London ruthlessly trying to acquire it. Who are they? Can Churchill and his new secretary Hetty Warner defeat them? And what about the man in the battered leather jacket that Hetty meets? Churchill feels sure they can rely on the Doctor to help them! Except that this Doctor seems to want to stay hidden in the shadows…

In the dark days of 1941, Britain is in the midst of war. Churchill must stand strong against the might of the enemy – but he is plagued by a darkness in his own psyche. Something he calls ‘the Black Dog’.
Can a visiting Swami hold the answer to his troubles? And can Hetty Warner prevent the Prime Minister's adversaries from taking advantage of the situation?
Across London, the Tenth Doctor's arrival may be the nation's only hope – but the Time Lord's plan to help his friend is endangered when he finds himself declared a traitor by the agents of the country he has come to protect...
3. Living History by Justin Richards
Finally given the chance to travel in the TARDIS, Winston Churchill cannot resist the opportunity of meeting Julius Caesar. But the trip does not go quite as planned. With the TARDIS gone, and Churchill stranded in ancient Britain with a young man he barely knows and who comes from the future, it seems things can hardly get any worse.
Until he is captured by the invading Romans.
Still, at least that means Churchill will meet Julius Caesar after all. But then Churchill learns of the Bronze God, feared and worshipped by the Ancient Britons. A god that he recognises as anything but divine when he meets it.
4. The Chartwell Metamorphosis by Ken Bentley
Comfortably retired to his home at Chartwell, Churchill plans to live out his days in peace, in the company of his butterflies – if his attendants would just leave him alone.
But it isn't simply Lepidoptera breeding in the gardens, as a far more sinister species is about to emerge from its cocoon – and is ready to feast on something more than just the shrubberies.
Surrounded on all sides, the former Prime Minister must put a life's worth of experience into action in order to win the day. Can his new nurse Lily Arwell offer her assistance?

Ian McNeice
Ian McNeice (born 2 October 1950) is an English actor and voice actor. He found fame portraying government agent Harcourt in the 1985 television miniseries Edge of Darkness, and went on to feature in popular films such as The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, and Frank Herbert's Dune. He plays Bert Large in the comedy drama series Doc Martin, and played The Newsreader in historical drama Rome.
Early life
McNeice was born in Basingstoke, Hampshire. His acting training started at the Taunton School in Somerset, followed by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and two years at the Salisbury Playhouse. The next few years were spent in theatre, including a four-year career with the Royal Shakespeare Company and a production of Nicholas Nickleby on Broadway.
Career
McNeice's television breakthrough was as Harcourt in the award-winning series Edge of Darkness. He played the alcoholic sous chef Gustave LaRoche on the television series Chef!, and went on to appear in the 2000 miniseries Frank Herbert's Dune as the evil Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, a role he later reprised for the 2003 sequel Children of Dune. His television appearances have included all seven series of Doc Martin, in which he plays Bert Large, as well as the third episode of the second series of Lewis. He appears as the Newsreader in the HBO/BBC production Rome.

Doc Martin
Doc Martin is a British television medical comedy drama series starring Martin Clunes in the title role. It was created by Dominic Minghella after the character of Dr Martin Bamford in the 2000 comedy film Saving Grace. The show is set in the fictional seaside village of Portwenn and filmed on location in the village of Port Isaac, Cornwall, England, with most interior scenes shot in a converted local barn. Seven series aired between 2004 and 2015, together with a feature-length special that aired on Christmas Day 2006. The seventh series began airing on ITV on 7 September 2015 and aired its last episode "The Doctor Is Out" on 2 November 2015.
Synopsis
Dr Martin Ellingham (Martin Clunes), a brilliant and successful vascular surgeon at Imperial College London, develops haemophobia (a fear of blood), forcing him to stop practising surgery. He obtains a post as the sole general practitioner (GP) in the sleepy Cornish village of Portwenn, where he had spent childhood holidays with his Aunt Joan (Stephanie Cole), who owns a local farm. Upon arriving in Portwenn – where, to his frustration, the locals address him as "Doc Martin" – he finds the surgery (medical clinic) in disarray and inherits an incompetent receptionist, Elaine Denham (Lucy Punch). In Series 2–4, she is replaced by Pauline Lamb (Katherine Parkinson), a new receptionist, and later also a phlebotomist. In Series 5, Morwenna Newcross (Jessica Ransom) takes up the post.

Finally given the chance to travel in the TARDIS, Winston Churchill cannot resist the opportunity of meeting Julius Caesar. But the trip does not go quite as planned. With the TARDIS gone, and Churchill stranded in ancient Britain with a young man he barely knows and who comes from the future, it seems things can hardly get any worse.
Until he is captured by the invading Romans.
Still, at least that means Churchill will meet Julius Caesar after all. But then Churchill learns of the Bronze God, feared and worshipped by the Ancient Britons. A god that he recognises as anything but divine when he meets it.

The set piece with Roger Sloman and the moving hat (trying to avoid spoilers) is genuinely funny and resolved cleverly, while the "heavies" provide a different dimension, but you're also left wondering just how far the ruthless bad guys are willing to go in order to get their hands on the house. There are question marks over exactly who can be trusted and who can't, plus the difficulties faced by single-parent families rear their head on occasions. Overall, this really is very enjoyable, and in my book unfairly forgotten in the mists of time. Another bonus point is that I don't like it when a film tries to wrap up every single thread at the end, as if all the characters needs to receive either their reward or their comeuppance. This tells its story, and when it's finished, it ends - perfectly satisfying, and still open to a sequel or spin-off series. It's no surprise that B&B; went on to win The Writers' Guild Award for Best Children's TV Show.
Besides Kevin Whately (who, despite his decades as Lewis, I still look at and think "Oh - it's the dad from Geordie Racer"), the central role is played by Alexandra Milman. As the independent and motivated daughter, she's excellent, and it's no surprise that the same writers also cast her in Mike and Angelo as Melanie and The Tomorrow People as Jade. She subsequently landed the lead in The Genie from Down Under (a BBC/Australian co-production I don't really remember) and played Anne Bronte in a 2003 TV movie - but unfortunately her IMDB doesn't list anything in the last 10 years or so. I wonder what became of Alexandra. Working on the stage, perhaps? Stealing the show in many ways, though, is Katy Murphy as troubled wandering busker Billie. We, of course, know Katy as a regular in Spatz and Mike and Angelo, but her performance here runs the full gamut and adds an element of unpredictability. In fact, the more I see of her, the more I wonder why we haven't seen *much* more of her in TV and film. Also making appearances are (amongst others) the likes of Ian McNeice, Jan Ravens, Joanna Kanska, Caroline O'Neill, Tim Healy and Dicken Ashworth - all recognisable faces on British TV, which add up to a very impressive ensemble indeed. Oh, and look out for a young Sam Stockman, too.
On top of all that, I'd like to give a big mention to director Graham Dixon, who pulled it all off brilliantly. Also to Jim Parker for providing great music, Joyce Nettles for getting the casting so right, and production designer Mark Tildesley, who - get this - went on to co-design the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony. No wonder Spatz always looked so good!

Crassus renascera das cinzas da desgraça de sua família e é possuidor de uma ambição desmedida, ambição esta só refreada por rivais como o senador Antonius Agrippa (Alan Bates). As guerras civis findaram e os homens sorriam uns aos outros, mas as inimizades não tinham fim. A fortuna de Crassus se percebia pelo ouro e pela prata, mas era medida pela carne de milhares de escravos que viviam sua curta existência em um mundo de sofrimento, sob o capricho de seus amos. Paralemente, em uma mina do Egito de onde saia o ouro que adornava as mulheres dos aristocratas, escravos de várias partes do mundo viviam um inferno constante, onde o mais simples ato se torna doloroso. Lá havia um escravo trácio, Spartacus (Goran Visnjic), que não se dobrava ao chicote e estava para ser crucificado, assim como também acontecera com seu pai. É quando foi comprado por um lanista, Lentulus Batiatus (Ian McNeice), dono da maior escola de gladiadores da Itália, que coincidentemente também comprara Varínia. Os dois logo se sente atraídos e Batiatus os faz ficarem juntos para "cruzarem", pois não passavam de animais para os romanos. Mas Spartacus e Varínia tem um comportamento muito diferente do esperado, pois se respeitavam como humanos. Durante o início dos treinamentos ficou claro que ele não sabia lutar, mas Spartacus aprende depressa e logo se torna o gladiador preferido nos combates em Cápua. Ele gostava desta fama, mas tudo muda quando Marcus Crassus chega na escola de gladiadores com sua mulher e outro casal de patrícios. Os dois casais foram até lá pedindo dois combates até a morte. Isto era fora do convencional e poderia causar um clima tenso na escola. Batiatus estipulou para a realização dos combates uma enorme quantia e Crassus concordou. Os visitantes escolheram os gladiadores e as lutas começaram. A primeira luta logo terminou, então chegou o momento de Spartacus ter de lutar com Draba (Henry Simmons), um etíope que após alguns minutos derrotou Spartacus e recebeu a ordem de dar o golpe fatal. Em vez de cumprir o ordenado, Draba tentou atacar os patrícios e foi morto. Após refletir, Spartacus entendeu que Draba preferiu morrer como um homem do que viver como um animal. Isto seria o ponto de partida para Spartacus liderar uma rebelião de escravos, que abalaria todo o Império Romano.

Synopsis

Can Churchill and his new secretary Hetty Warner defeat them? And what about the man in the battered leather jacket that Hetty meets? Churchill feels sure they can rely on the Doctor to help them! Except that this Doctor seems to want to stay hidden in the shadows…

In the dark days of 1941, Britain is in the midst of war. Churchill must stand strong against the might of the enemy – but he is plagued by a darkness in his own psyche. Something he calls ‘the Black Dog’.
Can a visiting Swami hold the answer to his troubles? And can Hetty Warner prevent the Prime Minister's adversaries from taking advantage of the situation?
Across London, the Tenth Doctor's arrival may be the nation's only hope – but the Time Lord's plan to help his friend is endangered when he finds himself declared a traitor by the agents of the country he has come to protect...

Finally given the chance to travel in the TARDIS, Winston Churchill cannot resist the opportunity of meeting Julius Caesar. But the trip does not go quite as planned. With the TARDIS gone, and Churchill stranded in ancient Britain with a young man he barely knows and who comes from the future, it seems things can hardly get any worse.
Until he is captured by the invading Romans.
Still, at least that means Churchill will meet Julius Caesar after all. But then Churchill learns of the Bronze God, feared and worshipped by the Ancient Britons. A god that he recognises as anything but divine when he meets it.
4. The Chartwell Metamorphosis by Ken Bentley
Comfortably retired to his home at Chartwell, Churchill plans to live out his days in peace, in the company of his butterflies – if his attendants would just leave him alone.
But it isn't simply Lepidoptera breeding in the gardens, as a far more sinister species is about to emerge from its cocoon – and is ready to feast on something more than just the shrubberies.
Surrounded on all sides, the former Prime Minister must put a life's worth of experience into action in order to win the day. Can his new nurse Lily Arwell offer her assistance?

Synopsis
1. The Oncoming Storm by Phil Mulryne
Late 1939. Britain faces the might of Germany. Winston Churchill serves as First Lord of the Admiralty. But Churchill soon finds himself facing a more immediate threat than the looming Nazi menace. This is genuinely heart-warming stuff with a full range of emotions, yet it never crosses the line into soppiness and still manages to retain a sense of both real peril and humour at the same time. The set piece with Roger Sloman and the moving hat (trying to avoid spoilers) is genuinely funny and resolved cleverly, while the "heavies" provide a different dimension, but you're also left wondering just how far the ruthless bad guys are willing to go in order to get their hands on the house. There are question marks over exactly who can be trusted and who can't, plus the difficulties faced by single-parent families rear their head on occasions. Overall, this really is very enjoyable, and in my book unfairly forgotten in the mists of time. Another bonus point is that I don't like it when a film tries to wrap up every single thread at the end, as if all the characters needs to receive either their reward or their comeuppance. This tells its story, and when it's finished, it ends - perfectly satisfying, and still open to a sequel or spin-off series. It's no surprise that B&B; went on to win The Writers' Guild Award for Best Children's TV Show.
Besides Kevin Whately (who, despite his decades as Lewis, I still look at and think "Oh - it's the dad from Geordie Racer"), the central role is played by Alexandra Milman. As the independent and motivated daughter, she's excellent, and it's no surprise that the same writers also cast her in Mike and Angelo as Melanie and The Tomorrow People as Jade. She subsequently landed the lead in The Genie from Down Under (a BBC/Australian co-production I don't really remember) and played Anne Bronte in a 2003 TV movie - but unfortunately her IMDB doesn't list anything in the last 10 years or so. I wonder what became of Alexandra. Working on the stage, perhaps? Stealing the show in many ways, though, is Katy Murphy as troubled wandering busker Billie. We, of course, know Katy as a regular in Spatz and Mike and Angelo, but her performance here runs the full gamut and adds an element of unpredictability. In fact, the more I see of her, the more I wonder why we haven't seen *much* more of her in TV and film. Also making appearances are (amongst others) the likes of Ian McNeice, Jan Ravens, Joanna Kanska, Caroline O'Neill, Tim Healy and Dicken Ashworth - all recognisable faces on British TV, which add up to a very impressive ensemble indeed. Oh, and look out for a young Sam Stockman, too.
On top of all that, I'd like to give a big mention to director Graham Dixon, who pulled it all off brilliantly. Also to Jim Parker for providing great music, Joyce Nettles for getting the casting so right, and production designer Mark Tildesley, who - get this - went on to co-design the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony. No wonder Spatz always looked so good!

Award-winning feature-length family film starring Kevin Whately as Steve, a single father who, after losing his job as an architect, sets up a guest house with young daughter Alice to avoid losing his home as well. Will they succeed, or will the unscrupulous property developers get their way? This was originally broadcast as a two-part drama on Friday, 19th and 26th June, 1992, and is absolutely not to be confused with the 2016 Paul McGann film of the same name, or the 1992 Roger Moore romantic comedy Bed & Breakfast.
This is genuinely heart-warming stuff with a full range of emotions, yet it never crosses the line into soppiness and still manages to retain a sense of both real peril and humour at the same time. The set piece with Roger Sloman and the moving hat (trying to avoid spoilers) is genuinely funny and resolved cleverly, while the "heavies" provide a different dimension, but you're also left wondering just how far the ruthless bad guys are willing to go in order to get their hands on the house. There are question marks over exactly who can be trusted and who can't, plus the difficulties faced by single-parent families rear their head on occasions. Overall, this really is very enjoyable, and in my book unfairly forgotten in the mists of time. Another bonus point is that I don't like it when a film tries to wrap up every single thread at the end, as if all the characters needs to receive either their reward or their comeuppance. This tells its story, and when it's finished, it ends - perfectly satisfying, and still open to a sequel or spin-off series. It's no surprise that B&B; went on to win The Writers' Guild Award for Best Children's TV Show.

Há vários anos Roma se debatia em guerras civis entre os plebeus e seus aristocráticos rivais, os patrícios, liderados pelo senador Marcus Crassus (Angus Macfadyen), o homem mais rico do mundo, que quando criança tinha presenciado o assassinato do pai no Fórum. Crassus renascera das cinzas da desgraça de sua família e é possuidor de uma ambição desmedida, ambição esta só refreada por rivais como o senador Antonius Agrippa (Alan Bates). As guerras civis findaram e os homens sorriam uns aos outros, mas as inimizades não tinham fim. A fortuna de Crassus se percebia pelo ouro e pela prata, mas era medida pela carne de milhares de escravos que viviam sua curta existência em um mundo de sofrimento, sob o capricho de seus amos. Paralemente, em uma mina do Egito de onde saia o ouro que adornava as mulheres dos aristocratas, escravos de várias partes do mundo viviam um inferno constante, onde o mais simples ato se torna doloroso. Lá havia um escravo trácio, Spartacus (Goran Visnjic), que não se dobrava ao chicote e estava para ser crucificado, assim como também acontecera com seu pai. É quando foi comprado por um lanista, Lentulus Batiatus (Ian McNeice), dono da maior escola de gladiadores da Itália, que coincidentemente também comprara Varínia. Os dois logo se sente atraídos e Batiatus os faz ficarem juntos para "cruzarem", pois não passavam de animais para os romanos. Mas Spartacus e Varínia tem um comportamento muito diferente do esperado, pois se respeitavam como humanos. Durante o início dos treinamentos ficou claro que ele não sabia lutar, mas Spartacus aprende depressa e logo se torna o gladiador preferido nos combates em Cápua. Ele gostava desta fama, mas tudo muda quando Marcus Crassus chega na escola de gladiadores com sua mulher e outro casal de patrícios. Os dois casais foram até lá pedindo dois combates até a morte. Isto era fora do convencional e poderia causar um clima tenso na escola. Batiatus estipulou para a realização dos combates uma enorme quantia e Crassus concordou. Os visitantes escolheram os gladiadores e as lutas começaram. A primeira luta logo terminou, então chegou o momento de Spartacus ter de lutar com Draba (Henry Simmons), um etíope que após alguns minutos derrotou Spartacus e recebeu a ordem de dar o golpe fatal. Em vez de cumprir o ordenado, Draba tentou atacar os patrícios e foi morto. Após refletir, Spartacus entendeu que Draba preferiu morrer como um homem do que viver como um animal. Isto seria o ponto de partida para Spartacus liderar uma rebelião de escravos, que abalaria todo o Império Romano.
