i/əˈlɑːhəbɑːd/), also known as Prayag (/prəˈjɑːɡ/) and Ilahabad, is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and the administrative headquarters of Allahabad District, the most-populous district in the state. As of 2011, Allahabad is the seventh most-populous city in the state, fifteenth in the Northern India and thirty-sixth in India, with an estimated population of 1.11 million in the city and 1.21 million in its metropolitan region. In 2011 it was ranked the world's 130th fastest-growing city. Allahabad, in 2013, was ranked the third most livable city in the state (after Noida and Lucknow) and twenty-ninth in the country.
The city's original name – Prayaga, or "place of offerings" – comes from its position at the Sangam (confluence) of the Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Sarasvati rivers. It is the second-oldest city in India, and plays a central role in Hindu scriptures. Allahabad was originally called Kaushambi (now a separate district) by the Kuru rulers of Hastinapur, who developed it as their capital. Since then, Allahabad has been a political, cultural and administrative centre of the Doab region. Mughal emperor Akbar renamed it Ilahabad, which the British changed to Allahabad. In 1833 it became the seat of the Ceded and Conquered Provinces region before its capital was moved to Agra in 1835. Allahabad became the capital of the North-Western Provinces in 1858, and was the capital of India for a day. The city was the capital of the United Provinces from 1902 to 1920 and remained at the forefront of national importance during the struggle for Indian independence.

Documentary of allahabad triveni sangam full videos The Triveni Sangam in Allahabad is a confluence of three rivers, the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati. Of these three, the river Saraswati is invisible and is alleged to flow underground and join the other two rivers from below. Here the muddy and pale-yellow waters of the Ganges merge with the blue waters of Yamuna. Insurance policy coverage Ganges is only 4 feet deep, the Yamuna is 40 feet deep near the point their own nexus. The river Yamuna merges into the Ganges at this point and also the Ganges continues on until it meets the sea at the Bay of Bengal. At the confluence of these two great Indian rivers, where the invisible Saraswati conjoins them, many tirtha yatris take boats to bathe from platforms erected in the Sangam. This, together however migratory birds give a picturesque look to the river during the Kumbha Mela, in the month of January. It is considered that all the gods come in human form to take a dip at the sangam and expiate their sins. All over India, the meeting rivers amplify the holiness of the tirtha. Two rivers are much better than one three even more auspicious. The great site of the meeting rivers in north India is the sangam, the confluence, of the Ganga and Yamuna at Prayaga, where the city now called Allahabad is an acronym. The Ganga has long been seen as the white river, bearing the mica laden waters of her Himalayan course, and the Yamuna, the blue riv. This description of the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna seems being referred to in one of the latest sections of the Rig Veda, which says,Those who bathe at the place where the two rivers, white and dark, flow together, rise upto island. The Triveni Sangam in Allahabad is a confluence of three rivers, the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati. Of these three, the river Saraswati is invisible and is alleged to flow underground and join the other two rivers from below. Here the muddy and pale-yellow waters of the Ganges merge with the blue waters of Yamuna. Insurance policy coverage Ganges is only 4 feet deep, the Yamuna is 40 feet deep near the point their own nexus. The river Yamuna merges into the Ganges at this point and also the Ganges continues on until it meets the sea at the Bay of Bengal. At the confluence of these two great Indian rivers, where the invisible Saraswati conjoins them, many tirtha yatris take boats to bathe from platforms erected in the Sangam. This, together however migratory birds give a picturesque look to the river during the Kumbha Mela, in the month of January. It is considered that all the gods come in human form to take a dip at the sangam and expiate their sins.
All over India, the meeting rivers amplify the holiness of the tirtha. Two rivers are much better than one three even more auspicious. The great site of the meeting rivers in north India is the sangam, the confluence, of the Ganga and Yamuna at Prayaga, where the city now called Allahabad is an acronym.
The Ganga has long been seen as the white river, bearing the mica laden waters of her Himalayan course, and the Yamuna, the blue riv.
This description of the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna seems being referred to in one of the latest sections of the Rig Veda, which says,Those who bathe at the place where the two rivers, white and dark, flow together, rise upto island. More than a thousand years later, the classical Sanskrit poet, Kalidasa, describes the confluence of the whitewaters of the Ganga with the blue waters of the Yamuna as they were a string of pearls and sapphires combined, or a garland of white and blue lotuses intertwined.
According to the Puranas, there is also yet another river, the Sarasvati

He was doing hitch hiking from Allahabad to Varanasi which is approx 120 KM wherein he traveled without spending any money (Zero money) to reach Varanasi while taking lift from unknown people on national highway though without money.
He was doing this hitch hiking on 4th Nov 2017 from his home Allahabad.
Hitch hiking is basically known as taking lift from unknown people and moving from one place to another place without any money.

5. Naini railway station - Uttar pradesh
Naini was infamous for its prison, Naini Central Prison, where many freedom fighters—including Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India—were imprisoned during the Indian independence mo, the first official Airmail flight in the world arrived in Naini from Allahabad. Henri Pequet carried 6,500 letters a distance of 13 km. This was the first commercial civil aviation flight in India
4. MG Road Metro station - Kolkata
The MG Road Metro Station in Gurgaon has rather a spooky and horrifying horror story of being haunted by the spirit of an old lady. But like most other spirits of old lady, this one doesn’t just simple hover by. No, she screams along beside the train, with her eyes and tongue bulging out. The story is pretty basic, that she died a few years ago in an accident in this station, and has been haunting the station and the trains that pass through here.
3. Dwarka, sector - 9, Metro station - Delhi
Not exactly the station, but a lady in white is known to haunt the area adjacent and around the Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station in Delhi. The spirit of the lady runs behind people in car, sometimes even allegedly slaps them, knocks against the door, and traumatizes the poor late night travellers.
2. Rabindra Sarobar Metro Station - Kolkata
The Rabindra Sarobar Metro Station, which is one of the prime destinations in the Kolkata Metro Line is also haunted by ghosts of all those who have died here. A record number of passengers have committed suicide in this metro station, by jumping into the way of an oncoming train. If you dare to stay back in this station even after the last train for the day has left, you’re sure to see shadows lurking at the corner of your eye and the resonating sad screams of many travellers who met their end here.

The Barog Railway Station lies very close to the Tunnel no. 33 also known as the Barog Tunnel, which frequently sees paranormal activity. The tunnel was constructed by Colonel Barog, an engineer who committed suicide after being humiliated in front of his workers. It is believed that he shot himself while taking a stroll and was buried near the tunnel, which was then incomplete. Since then, he is seen wandering around the tunnel to make his presence felt.

Allahabad, the city with such a rich history, we explored a part of the cullinary delight - the Chaat at Civil Lines, Lunch at El-Chico, Churmura and Lallu pan Shop. We also visited the residence of Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, where Amitabh spent his cdildhood before going to study at Sherwood in Nainital.
In a short span we could cover a very selected places, but we plan to make another visit and explore Allahabad to the maximum. We shall be covering Coffee House, Loknath, Bahrana, etc locations very soon.
