Jerry Lewis AM (born March 16, 1926) is an American comedian, actor, singer, film producer, screenwriter and film director and is known for his slapstick humor in film, television, stage and radio. His career began in 1946, with an act together with Dean Martin, forming the team of Martin and Lewis, which performed in live nightclubs, television programs, radio shows and theatrical movies before 1956, when the two men parted ways, after ten years as a duo.
Then since 1957, as a solo, Lewis went on to star in many more films, such as The Delicate Delinquent (his debut as film producer), The Bellboy (his debut as film director, screenwriter and development of video assist) and The Nutty Professor as well as many television shows and appearances, music albums, live concerts and more. From 1966 to 2010, Lewis hosted the annual Labor Day Telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for over forty years and served as national chairman of the organization.
Lewis has won several awards for lifetime achievements from the American Comedy Awards, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, Venice Film Festival, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

At age 90, Jerry Lewis has made his return to the big screen in the film Max Rose, delivering what critics called a mesmerizing performance that fans of the legendary comedian may not have seen before. In his first film role in more than 20 years, Lewis plays, a jazz pianist who, days before his wife's death, makes a discovery that leads him to question his marriage of 65 years. The legend said his greatest fear is leaving behind his wife Sandee and their 24-year-old daughter, Danielle.

Jerry appeared on Late Night two times: October 5, 1982, and March 29, 1984. Here are both. The promotional clip to the film he was promoting on the latter appearance, "Retenez Moi, Ou Je Fais Un Malheur," had been edited out due to copyright caution. Late Night writer Stephen Winer: "One of my favorite memories with David Letterman would be the day of Jerry Lewis' first appearance. There were a few genuine Jerry fans among us and I think we were all a bit nervous about meeting him because of his reputation for being difficult. Well, I had a chance to talk with him a bit and he couldn't have been nicer or more generous. Yes, I'm sure luck was with me. But I get to keep that memory. Then he went on with Dave and all this happened. By the way, the Jerry Lewis records Dave holds up are mine...

In this interview from 1983, Jerry Lewis talks about the 1980s film The King Of Comedy, working with Robert De Niro and director Martin Scorsese, meeting fans, shooting on the street in New York City, his character Jerry Langford and the Academy Awards. BREATHLESS
Jerry Lee Lewis
(Ottis Blackwell)
Now, if you love me,
let's please don't tease
If I can hold you then
let me squeeze
My heart goes 'round and 'round
My love comes tumblin' down
You leave me (breathe out...) (whisper:) Breathless
Oh, I shake all over and
you know why
I'm sure it's love and
that's no lie
'cause when you call my name
I burn like wood inflamed
You leave me (breathe out...) (whisper:) Breathless
Oh, baby! Mm-mm. Crazy!
You're much too much
I can't love you enough
Now it's all right to hold me tight,
but when you love me
love me right
Now, come on, baby
Don't be shy
'cause love was meant for you and I
Wind, rain, sleet or snow
I will be wherever you go
You leave me (breathe out...) (whisper:) Breathless
