ANU Giving Day - Let Every Story Be Heard

To be human is to have a story. As the national university, ANU is responsible for supporting our community of alumni, researchers and students in developing their own stories, which shape the nation's future. Giving Day is about bringing people together to support individuals in achieving their potential, and the exploration of new ideas and new ways of thinking. This year Giving Day will be supporting two projects: an Indigenous volume of the Australian Dictionary of Biography (ADB) and refugee access and support programs.

You can choose to either support the Giving Day fund, where all donations will go to both projects, or you can give specifically to a project of your choice. All funds will directly support these projects.

Join the narrative and support Giving Day, so that every story can be heard.

Stories waiting to be told

The Australian Dictionary of Biography is Australia's pre-eminent dictionary of national biography. It consists of over 13,500 concise, informative and fascinating descriptions of the lives of significant and representative people in Australian history. Your donation will support the development of a supplementary volume to redress the under-representation of Indigenous Australians in the ADB. Working with Indigenous communities, an additional 190 entries on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will be produced, as well as research articles that reframe Indigenous biographical practice. The project is being led by the ADB's Indigenous Working Party composed entirely of Indigenous scholars from all Australian states.

Stories waiting to unfold

ANU is committed to providing support for all students in need. A Refugee Support Program will offer tailored assistance to individual refugee students, a Humanitarian Scholarship will assist refugee students on a temporary visa financially and the STOMP Program sees Griffin Hall students from ANU mentor and work with refugee students at Dickson College. Your support of these programs will help to ensure a smooth transition to University and improve the ANU experience for refugee students.
