Last May, in Cannes, Palestinian director Hany Abu Assad's Omar was awarded the Jury Prize in the festival's Un Certain Regard section.
In his first film since his award-winning Paradise Now (2006, winner of a Golden Globe and first Palestinian film tipped for an Oscar), Adam Bakri plays Omar, a young Palestinian baker who is captured after a deadly act of resistance, while Waleed Zuaiter plays Rami, an Israeli agent assigned to his case.
Euromed Audiovisual met the two actors in Cannes.
"I'm also a producer on the film," explains actor Waleed Zuaiter. "I was in charge of the financing and raising the funds. My brothers and I founded a company, a newly formed company, and we're an almost entirely privately financed Palestinian film. We feel like we made history. Hopefully this will encourage other Palestinian films. The mission [...] was to get the Palestinian financial community to invest in the community, to create jobs, to boost the economic status there, and to really support the talent. There's so much talent, and there's so many amazing stories that need to be told. Hopefully, this will open the door to many more to come!"

Omar is accustomed to dodging surveillance bullets to cross the separation wall to visit his secret love Nadia. But occupied Palestine knows neither simple love nor clear-cut war. Waleed Zuaiter
Waleed F. Zuaiter (born January 19, 1971) is an American actor and producer who has performed in on-stage productions in Washington, DC, Berkeley, California, and New York City, as well as several film and television productions. He currently lives in Los Angeles, California. He is the producer and co-star of Omar (2013), which was nominated for an Oscar at the 86th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.
Life and career
Zuaiter, an American with Palestinian ancestry, was born in Sacramento, California, but grew up in Kuwait. He returned to the United States to earn his degree in Philosophy and Theatre at George Washington University, in Washington, DC. He began his acting career with several productions in Washington, DC, before relocating to New York City.
On the New York stage, he received critical acclaim for his portrayal of a former Iraqi translator for the U.S. military, in George Packer's Betrayed. He also has starred in David Greig's The American Pilot at the Manhattan Theatre Club, Tony Kushner's Homebody/Kabul, Ilan Hatsor's Masked, Eliam Kraiem's Sixteen Wounded, and Victoria Brittain and Gillian Slovo's Guantanamo: Honor Bound to Defend Freedom. He also performed alongside Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline in Mother Courage at the Public Theater.

London Has Fallen is an upcoming American action thriller film directed by Babak Najafi and written by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt, Chad St. John, and Christian Gudegast. It is a sequel to Antoine Fuqua's 2013 film Olympus Has Fallen and stars Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, and Morgan Freeman, with Alon Moni Aboutboul, Angela Bassett, Robert Forster, Melissa Leo, and Radha Mitchell in supporting roles.
Filming began on October 24, 2014, in London, a Christmas break started in November with filming resuming in February 2015. London Has Fallen is set to be released on March 4, 2016 by Focus Features under their recently revived Gramercy Pictures label.
Plot
In London, the British Prime Minister has died under mysterious circumstances and his funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world. What starts out as the most protected event on Earth turns into a deadly plot to kill the world's most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. The only hope of stopping it rests on the shoulders of the U.S. President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart), his formidable US Secret Service lead agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), Vice President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman), and a British MI6 agent (Charlotte Riley) who rightly trusts no one.

Adam Bakri
Adam Bakri is an actor best known for playing lead role in Hany Abu-Assad's film Omar which made the 86th Academy Awards's shortlist for Best Foreign Language Film.
Adam Bakri comes from a cinematic family; he is the son of Mohammad Bakri, brother of Saleh Bakri and Ziad Bakri. After completing a bachelor's degree in English Literature and Theater Arts at Tel Aviv University, Bakri trained at New York's Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Shortly after his graduation, he landed the lead role in Hany Abu-Assad's drama thriller, Omar.
In 2014, Adam Bakri was announced as lead actor in Asif Kapadia's adaptation of Ali and Nino.

Last May, in Cannes, Palestinian director Hany Abu Assad's Omar was awarded the Jury Prize in the festival's Un Certain Regard section. In his first film since his award-winning Paradise Now (2006, winner of a Golden Globe and first Palestinian film tipped for an Oscar), Adam Bakri plays Omar, a young Palestinian baker who is captured after a deadly act of resistance, while Waleed Zuaiter plays Rami, an Israeli agent assigned to his case. In his first film since his award-winning Paradise Now (2006, winner of a Golden Globe and first Palestinian film tipped for an Oscar), Adam Bakri plays Omar, a young Palestinian baker who is captured after a deadly act of resistance, while Waleed Zuaiter plays Rami, an Israeli agent assigned to his case.
Euromed Audiovisual met the two actors in Cannes.
"I'm also a producer on the film," explains actor Waleed Zuaiter. "I was in charge of the financing and raising the funds. My brothers and I founded a company, a newly formed company, and we're an almost entirely privately financed Palestinian film. We feel like we made history. Hopefully this will encourage other Palestinian films. The mission [...] was to get the Palestinian financial community to invest in the community, to create jobs, to boost the economic status there, and to really support the talent. There's so much talent, and there's so many amazing stories that need to be told. Hopefully, this will open the door to many more to come!"

Omar is accustomed to dodging surveillance bullets to cross the separation wall to visit his secret love Nadia. But occupied Palestine knows neither simple love nor clear-cut war. On the other side of the wall, the sensitive young baker Omar becomes a freedom fighter who must face painful choices about life and manhood. When Omar is captured after a deadly act of resistance, he falls into a cat-and-mouse game with the military police. Suspicion and betrayal jeopardize his longtime trust with accomplices and childhood friends Amjad and Tarek, Nadia's militant brother. Omar's feelings quickly become as torn apart as the Palestinian landscape. But it's soon evident that everything he does is for his love of Nadia.

Mike is expecting his first child with his wife Leah (Radha Mitchell) and hopes to take some time off to spend time with his family, contemplating resigning from the Secret Service. In Yemen, Barkawi is still alive, and he meets with his son Kamran (Waleed Zuaiter). They begin to set plans in motion for revenge.

Last May, in Cannes, Palestinian director Hany Abu Assad's Omar was awarded the Jury Prize in the festival's Un Certain Regard section. In his first film since his award-winning Paradise Now (2006, winner of a Golden Globe and first Palestinian film tipped for an Oscar), Adam Bakri plays Omar, a young Palestinian baker who is captured after a deadly act of resistance, while Waleed Zuaiter plays Rami, an Israeli agent assigned to his case. Last May, in Cannes, Palestinian director Hany Abu Assad's Omar was awarded the Jury Prize in the festival's Un Certain Regard section.
In his first film since his award-winning Paradise Now (2006, winner of a Golden Globe and first Palestinian film tipped for an Oscar), Adam Bakri plays Omar, a young Palestinian baker who is captured after a deadly act of resistance, while Waleed Zuaiter plays Rami, an Israeli agent assigned to his case.
Euromed Audiovisual met the two actors in Cannes.

My brothers and I founded a company, a newly formed company, and we're an almost entirely privately financed Palestinian film. We feel like we made history. Hopefully this will encourage other Palestinian films. The mission [...] was to get the Palestinian financial community to invest in the community, to create jobs, to boost the economic status there, and to really support the talent. There's so much talent, and there's so many amazing stories that need to be told. Hopefully, this will open the door to many more to come!"

Last May, in Cannes, Palestinian director Hany Abu Assad's Omar was awarded the Jury Prize in the festival's Un Certain Regard section.
In his first film since his award-winning Paradise Now (2006, winner of a Golden Globe and first Palestinian film tipped for an Oscar), Adam Bakri plays Omar, a young Palestinian baker who is captured after a deadly act of resistance, while Waleed Zuaiter plays Rami, an Israeli agent assigned to his case.
Euromed Audiovisual met the two actors in Cannes.
"I'm also a producer on the film," explains actor Waleed Zuaiter. "I was in charge of the financing and raising the funds. My brothers and I founded a company, a newly formed company, and we're an almost entirely privately financed Palestinian film. We feel like we made history. Hopefully this will encourage other Palestinian films. The mission [...] was to get the Palestinian financial community to invest in the community, to create jobs, to boost the economic status there, and to really support the talent. There's so much talent, and there's so many amazing stories that need to be told. Hopefully, this will open the door to many more to come!"

Last May, in Cannes, Palestinian director Hany Abu Assad's Omar was awarded the Jury Prize in the festival's Un Certain Regard section.
In his first film since his award-winning Paradise Now (2006, winner of a Golden Globe and first Palestinian film tipped for an Oscar), Adam Bakri plays Omar, a young Palestinian baker who is captured after a deadly act of resistance, while Waleed Zuaiter plays Rami, an Israeli agent assigned to his case.
Euromed Audiovisual met the two actors in Cannes.
"I'm also a producer on the film," explains actor Waleed Zuaiter. "I was in charge of the financing and raising the funds. My brothers and I founded a company, a newly formed company, and we're an almost entirely privately financed Palestinian film. We feel like we made history. Hopefully this will encourage other Palestinian films. The mission [...] was to get the Palestinian financial community to invest in the community, to create jobs, to boost the economic status there, and to really support the talent. There's so much talent, and there's so many amazing stories that need to be told. Hopefully, this will open the door to many more to come!"

Omar is accustomed to dodging surveillance bullets to cross the separation wall to visit his secret love Nadia. But occupied Palestine knows neither simple love nor clear-cut war. On the other side of the wall, the sensitive young baker Omar becomes a freedom fighter who must face painful choices about life and manhood. When Omar is captured after a deadly act of resistance, he falls into a cat-and-mouse game with the military police. Suspicion and betrayal jeopardize his longtime trust with accomplices and childhood friends Amjad and Tarek, Nadia's militant brother. Omar's feelings quickly become as torn apart as the Palestinian landscape. But it's soon evident that everything he does is for his love of Nadia.
