The culture of the United Kingdom is the pattern of human activity and symbolism associated with the United Kingdom and its people. It is influenced by the UK's history as a developed island country, a liberal democracy and a major power, its predominantly Christian religious life, and its composition of four countries—England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales—each of which has distinct customs, cultures and symbolism. The wider culture of Europe has also influenced British culture, and Humanism, Protestantism and representative democracy developed from broader Western culture.
British literature, music, cinema, art, theatre, comedy, media, television, philosophy, architecture and education are influential and respected across the world. The United Kingdom is also prominent in science and technology, producing world-leading scientists (e.g. Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin) and inventions. Sport is an important part of British culture; numerous sports originated in the country, including football. The UK has been described as a "cultural superpower", and London has been described as a world cultural capital.
British may refer to:
Culture (/ˈkʌltʃər/) is, in the words of E.B. Tylor, "that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society."
Cambridge English Dictionary states that culture is, "the way of life, especially the general customs and beliefs, of a particular group of people at a particular time."Terror Management Theory posits that culture is a series of activities and worldviews that provide humans with the illusion of being individuals of value in a world meaning—raising themselves above the merely physical aspects of existence, in order to deny the animal insignificance and death that Homo Sapiens became aware of when they acquired a larger brain.
The English are a nation and ethnic group native to England, who speak the English language. The English identity is of early mediaeval origin, when they were known in Old English as the Angelcynn ("family of the Angles"). Their ethnonym is derived from the Angles, one of the Germanic peoples who migrated to Great Britain around the 5th century AD. England is one of the countries of the United Kingdom.
Historically, the English population is descended from several peoples — the earlier Britons (or Brythons) and the Germanic tribes that settled in Britain following the withdrawal of the Romans, including Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Frisians. Collectively known as the Anglo-Saxons, they founded what was to become England (from the Old English Englaland) along with the later Danes, Normans and other groups. In the Acts of Union 1707, the Kingdom of England was succeeded by the Kingdom of Great Britain. Over the years, English customs and identity have become fairly closely aligned with British customs and identity in general.

Queuing, tea and talking about the weather. Are us Brits really that predictable? A few UK based Europeans who we spoke to (before the referendum) seemed to think so. What's more, they wouldn't have it any other way. Sue Bourne had lived in her street for fifteen years yet she knew practically none of her neighbours. While she relished the anonymity this afforded her she was also nosy and wanted to find out what lay behind the other 115 doorways in her street. She began knocking on the doors and meeting her neighbours and this award-winning film is the story of what she found. Want to watch more full-length Documentaries? 1. Saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ is considered good manners; it is considered rude if you don't use them. 2. Being punctual is important. The British consider it rude and impolite if you turn up late for an appointment. Call even if you will be 5 minutes later than agreed. 3. Queueing is a unique part of the British culture. Violating a queue is considered extremely impolite, so never push ahead in a line. 4. Hugging, kissing and touching are usually reserved for family members and very close friends. 5. Having an argument in public is considered bad manners. 6. Talking about money is considered bad manners. 7. Tipping is not expected in the UK, but is much appreciated. You can tip if you are happy with the service. 8. Standing too close to someone is rude. The British like a ce...

The Red Lion is based on a very simple idea – take the most common name for a pub (The Red Lion) and then take the people who drink in the 600 pubs across the UK with that name to throw light on our drinking habits. What emerges is a unique portrait of Britain as a nation of drinkers – a documentary that, part hilariously, part disturbingly shows just how deeply booze and the boozer are woven into the warp and weft of British society and culture. From the tipsy eighty year old widows to the 15-pints-a-day landlord. From the lonely singleton divorcee to the raucous student members of the university netball team, men and women, groups and individuals, young and old – we all use the pub and alcohol in our different ways. Is Britain as a nation in the grip of a serious drink problem? Or are ...

At the federal level in Britain, there can be no Christian prayer in government meetings. At the local level in Manchester, England, a government meeting opens with Islamic prayer. A young man wrote on his body, Stop Muslim Rape Gangs. This in reference to “Asian” rape gangs in the media. He was arrested for inciting racial hatred. The West has always failed to call Muslims, “Muslims.” Instead they call them Arabs, Saracens, Turks, Moors, and now the Brits call them Asians. The British spend their political capital to denigrate their own culture and elevate Islam. We are seeing the collapse of Britain due to a civilizational war with Islam.

There is no doubt there is a rape culture in the UK, and it is allowed to flourish because of the word "racist". Rave Culture is one of Britain’s great cultural exports, but after its first wave in the late eighties and early nineties, it was soon forced into the underground by stringent new laws and superclubs. But forward 25 years into in the midst of a nationwide purge on the nation’s nightlife, where nearly half of all British clubs have shut down in the last decade, and a new kind of scene has emerged. Clive Martin investigates this 21st century version of Rave, where young people break into disused spaces with the help of bolt-cutters and complicated squatting laws, to suck on balloons and go hard into the early morning. But with the police using increasingly extreme tactics to clamp down on these parties, and more than one fatality causing nationwide media panic, can the scene survive? Watc...
Britain has tough laws against many drugs, including heroin, cannabis and smoking. Even shisha pipes are banned from indoor spaces. Yet every Friday and Saturday evening, millions of Britons flood into bars to get drunk, behave in embarrassing ways and pick fights with strangers. While the United Kingdom does not agree with the laws of other countries where drinking is banned, it sets alcohol aside from all other drugs as acceptable, and even funny, though it is responsible for broken families, thousands of deaths and millions of pounds in health care as a result of its misuse. And, so far, the government has been powerless to prevent any of it. What has happened to an entire nation that is Britain whereby binge-drinking is enshrined in its culture?
