An appeal to Bearded Broz: the Birmingham bin strike
The following is an appeal to the volunteer group Bearded Broz. I'm asking you to avoid collecting the bins while the Birmingham bin strike now enters its ninth week. Although I feel the points I make are valid no matter who say them, I should mention that I am not affiliated with Unite, nor am I a refuse collector. I am merely a resident of Birmingham who also happens to share a Pakistani background with many of you. Although I admire your proactive attitude, I believe doing the bin men’s work while they’re on strike can only have an adverse effect on our already neglected communities.

Port Adelaide struggles, 1928-1931
Photo gallery of the strikes and riots at Port Adelaide in Australia which began in 1928 when the employers introduced new working conditions. They cut workers' break time - when workers already did 16 to 48 hour shifts, and crucially strengthened the "bull system", whereby bosses would handpick workers. This meant not only workers having to wait around for hours each day to potentially not get any work but also that union workers could be denied hiring. Union leaders rapidly called off the action but workers continued to fight for three years.

France: calls for general strike against Macron's reforms
Cuts to employer contributions, dismantling of the Code du travail (laws governing employment conditions), pensions reform: Macron’s government is there to complete the destruction of everything that workers have won. So militants in France are calling on workers to draw on the lessons of past struggles and launch a prolonged general strike to paralyse the economy.
