Riff Raff biography
Riff Raff was founded in 1979 by four root, rock and rhythm and blues oriented guys, eager to try a heavier approach to their music, using influences from the tougher rock bands of the era, with a serious bias towards AC/DC.Riff Raff eventually came in third at the national "ROCK Finnish Masters" contest back in 1980, impressing their audience as well as Poko Rekords. Becoming the first Oulu heavy metal band to be printed in vinyl, the songs "Ill Be Gone" and Rockn Roll Star" were used on the Poko Records compilation "Heavy Metal & Live", recorded in Tampere, 1981.On the first album "No Law n Order" Riff Raff were probably closer to pure rock and roll, with a major focus on their live performances.

Riff-Raff (1991 film)
Riff-Raff is a 1991 British film directed by Ken Loach, starring Robert Carlyle and Ricky Tomlinson (the latter plays, and was in real life, a builder). It won the 1991 European Film Award Best Picture award.
As with most Loach films, Riff-Raff is a naturalistic portrayal of modern Britain. It follows Stevie, played by Robert Carlyle, a Glaswegian recently released from prison who has moved to London and got a job on a building site turning a derelict hospital into luxury apartments.
Plot summary
Patrick 'Stevie' Logan is sleeping rough in London and seeks employment on a building site. Learning that he is homeless, Stevie's new workmates Larry, Mo and Shem volunteer to find him an empty flat to squat in on a nearby housing estate.
Stevie meets struggling Irish actress and singer Susan (Emer McCourt) when he finds and returns a handbag belonging to her. This chance encounter leads to a turbulent relationship.
Stevie rounds up some of the men from the building site to support Susan at one of her pub gigs where she sings Always On My Mind. The audience is initially hostile, but Larry shames them into calling Susan back for an encore and she sings With A Little Help From My Friends, which is much better received. Susan agrees to move into Stevie's flat, where they are happy for a time.

Plot: A bomb-sniffing beagle is fired from the mayor's office for a faux pas. That night a mad scientist dognaps him and injects him with an elixir. The dog escapes, but now has superpowers. RIFF RAFF (Finland rock band) Robot Stud alb 1982 Riff Raff biography Riff Raff was founded in 1979 by four root, rock and rhythm and blues oriented guys, eager to try a heavier approach to their music, using influences from the tougher rock bands of the era, with a serious bias towards AC/DC.Riff Raff eventually came in third at the national "ROCK Finnish Masters" contest back in 1980, impressing their audience as well as Poko Rekords. Becoming the first Oulu heavy metal band to be printed in vinyl, the songs "Ill Be Gone" and Rockn Roll Star" were used on the Poko Records compilation "Heavy Metal & Live", recorded in Tampere, 1981.On the first album "No Law n Order" Riff Raff were probably closer to pure rock and roll, with a major focus on their live performances.

Offbeat Magazine and Liveset have teamed up for a special collaboration to bring you one of New Orleans most loved folk bands, Hurray for the Riff Raff. This free and intimate online performance will be streamed live online from the Art House on the Levee in the lower 9th Ward of New Orleans. RIFF RAFF (Finland rock band) Robot Stud alb 1982 Riff Raff biography Riff Raff was founded in 1979 by four root, rock and rhythm and blues oriented guys, eager to try a heavier approach to their music, using influences from the tougher rock bands of the era, with a serious bias towards AC/DC.Riff Raff eventually came in third at the national "ROCK Finnish Masters" contest back in 1980, impressing their audience as well as Poko Rekords. Becoming the first Oulu heavy metal band to be printed in vinyl, the songs "Ill Be Gone" and Rockn Roll Star" were used on the Poko Records compilation "Heavy Metal & Live", recorded in Tampere, 1981.On the first album "No Law n Order" Riff Raff were probably closer to pure rock and roll, with a major focus on their live performances.

In the past seven or eight years, Hurray For The Riff Raff has blossomed slowly but fully, transforming its sound from intense-but-delicate one-woman bedroom recordings to the rip-roaring full-band jams that dominated the group's set at Stubb's BBQ in Austin, Texas, recorded live for NPR Music Wednesday night.
Segarra commanded rapt attention throughout a string of powerful songs from Hurray For The Riff Raff's new album The Navigator, which examines her Puerto Rican heritage and a search for what she calls "my lost humanity." Wearing a homemade T-shirt that read "No Human Is Illegal," Segarra roared through songs that seethed with coiled intensity — even the slow-burning ballad "Fourteen Floors," for which Segarra took over on keyboards, was performed with to-the-skies power. So, yeah: Ready for the world.
