Perth Uber driver tests positive to meth in routine traffic stop

An Uber driver has tested positive for meth after he was pulled over in a random alcohol and drug test on Sunday afternoon.

Breath and Drug Bus Operations were conducting the tests outside St Joachim's School in Victoria Park at around 1.30pm when officers pulled the red Hyundai Accent over.

The driver tested negative to cannabis and positive to methylamphetamine.

"There will be a nervous wait to find out the results of a formal chemical analysis of the roadside sample he provided," a spokesperson said.

In WA, first-time offenders found to be impaired by prescribed or illicit drugs while driving could face up to a $2500 fine and a minimum 10 month license disqualification.
