Man caught going 95km/h over limit two days after getting car back for 'hooning'

An WA man has been caught speeding almost 100 kilometres an hour over the speed limit, just two days after getting his car back from being confiscated for previous hooning offences.

WA Police detected a silver Holden Commodore ute travelling at 155 kilometres per hour in a 60 zone, on Harbour Road in Esperance at about 4.45pm on Saturday afternoon.

Inspector Mal Anderson said officers soon recognised the 20-year-old driver.

"When the vehicle was stopped the driver was found to be the same man that the two police officers had arrested for a similar offence in early September," he said.

"He had in fact, only got the car back from the previous seizure two days ago."

His ute has now been seized for a further 28 days, and he is due to appear in Esperance Magistrate's Court at a later date.
