FIRE OF THE LAND
Set at the time of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, the film tells the story of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy's peace camp in Sydney's Victoria Park. At the centre of the film is Isabell Coe of the Wiradjuri Nation (in central New South Wales) who brought ashes to Sydney from the Sacred Fire for Peace and Justice at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra, to symbolise the role of the Embassy in promoting reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians. This beautifully crafted film was written and directed by Valerie Bichard while a student at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School. Permalink: http://www.roninfilms.com.au/feature/416 |
