Timothy John Bevan, CBE (born December 1957) is a British film producer, the co-chairman (with Eric Fellner) of the production company Working Title Films.
Bevan was born in Queenstown, New Zealand, in December 1957. Bevan was educated at Sidcot School, a Quaker boarding independent school in the Mendip Hills, near the village of Winscombe in North Somerset, in South West England.
Bevan co-founded Working Title Films in London with Sarah Radclyffe and Graham Bradstreet in the 1980s. (Eric Fellner now partners Tim Bevan at Working Title Films). Among Bevan's more than 40 films as producer or executive producer are Moonlight and Valentino, Fargo, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Guru, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Love Actually, Notting Hill, Elizabeth, Bridget Jones's Diary, Atonement, and Frost/Nixon. To date, the films he has co-produced have grossed a total of almost four billion dollars worldwide ($3,939 Million according to www.boxofficemojo.com) without adjusting for inflation.
Working Title Films is a British film production company, based in London and owned by Universal Studios. The company was founded by Tim Bevan and Sarah Radclyffe in 1983. It produces feature films and several television productions. Eric Fellner and Bevan are now the co-chairs of the company.
Working Title Films was co-founded by producers Tim Bevan and Sarah Radclyffe in 1983. In 1992, PolyGram became the company's corporate backer. Radclyffe left Working Title, and Eric Fellner, a fellow independent film producer, joined the company. The company produced a variety of films for PolyGram's London-based production company PolyGram Filmed Entertainment. An Anglo-Dutch film studio, PolyGram Films became a major Hollywood competitor. In 1999, PolyGram was sold to the Seagram company and merged with MCA Music Entertainment, to form Universal Music Group. PolyGram Films was sold and folded into Universal Studios in 1999.
Although contractually allowed to produce any film with a budget of up to $US35 million, on a practical basis, Bevan and Fellner consult with studio executives at Working Title's parent company NBCUniversal. Working Title is located in London. The company also has other offices located in Los Angeles and Ireland.
Joe Wright (born 25 August 1972) is an English film director known for the romance film Pride & Prejudice (2005), the romantic drama war film Atonement (2007), the action thriller Hanna (2011), and his 2012 adaptation of the classic Anna Karenina. His most recent film, Pan, is a Peter Pan origin story.
Wright was born on 25 August 1972 in London, where his parents, John and Lyndie, founded the Little Angel Theatre, a puppet theatre in Islington. Wright always had an interest in the arts, especially painting. He would also make films on his Super 8 camera as well as spend time in the evenings acting in a drama club. Wright is dyslexic. He left school without any GCSEs.
He began his career working at his parents' puppet theatre. He also took classes at the Anna Scher Theatre School and acted professionally on stage and camera. He spent an art foundation year at Camberwell College of Arts, before taking a degree in fine art and film at Central St Martins. In his last year of studies he received a scholarship to make a short film for the BBC that won several awards. On the success of the short, he was offered the script for the serial Nature Boy. He followed this up with the serials Bodily Harm with Timothy Spall, and the highly acclaimed Charles II: The Power and The Passion with Rufus Sewell which won the BAFTA Award for Best Drama Serial.
Anna Karenina (Russian: «Анна Каренина»; Russian pronunciation: [ˈanːə kɐˈrʲenʲɪnə]) is a novel by the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy, published in serial installments from 1873 to 1877 in the periodical The Russian Messenger. Tolstoy clashed with editor Mikhail Katkov over political issues that arose in the final installment (Tolstoy's negative views of Russian volunteers going to fight in Serbia); therefore, the novel's first complete appearance was in book form in 1878.
Widely regarded as a pinnacle in realist fiction, Tolstoy considered Anna Karenina his first true novel, after he came to consider War and Peace to be more than a novel.
Fyodor Dostoyevsky declared it "flawless as a work of art." His opinion was shared by Vladimir Nabokov, who especially admired "the flawless magic of Tolstoy's style," and by William Faulkner, who described the novel as "the best ever written." The novel remains popular, as demonstrated by a 2007 poll of 125 contemporary authors in Time, which declared that Anna Karenina is the "greatest book ever written."
Eric Fellner, CBE (born 10 Oct 1959) is an English film producer. He is the co-chairman (along with Tim Bevan) of the production company Working Title Films.
Fellner went to Cranleigh School in Surrey, England from 1972 to 1977. He attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He is a good friend of Hugh Grant, who is the star of some of Working Title's biggest box office hits. Fellner and his long-time partner, model Laura Bailey, have two children together.
Among Fellner's more than 60 films as producer or executive producer are Moonlight and Valentino, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Dead Man Walking, Fargo, Notting Hill, United 93, Bridget Jones's Diary and Senna.
Working Title Films signed a deal with Universal Studios in 1999 for a reported $600 (USD) million, which gave Bevan and Fellner the power to commission projects with a budget of up to $35 (USD) million without having to consult their paymasters. It is now Britain’s largest production company with offices in London and Los Angeles. Successes include Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) which has grossed over $250 (USD) million worldwide. Dead Man Walking and Fargo won Oscars in 1996 and 1997 respectively, while Elizabeth (1998) and Atonement (2007) were both nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award.
Producer and CEO of Working Title films explains the structure and roles in the company and how to run a successful film production business. Tim talks about the importance of Richard Curtis and Rowan Atkinson and the upcoming 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy'.
