Dexter is an American television crime drama mystery series that aired on Showtime from October 1, 2006, to September 22, 2013. Set in Miami, the series centers on Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a blood spatter pattern analyst for the fictional Miami Metro Police Department who also leads a secret life as a vigilante serial killer, hunting down murderers who have slipped through the cracks of the justice system. The show's first season was derived from the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter (2004), the first of the Dexter series novels by Jeff Lindsay. It was adapted for television by screenwriter James Manos, Jr., who wrote the first episode. Subsequent seasons evolved independently of Lindsay's works.
In February 2008, reruns (edited down to a TV-14 rating) began to air on CBS, although the reruns on CBS ended after one run of the first season. The series has enjoyed mostly positive reviews throughout its run and popularity, including four straight Primetime Emmy nominations for Best Drama series in its first four seasons. Season 4 aired its season finale on December 13, 2009, to a record-breaking audience of 2.6 million viewers, making it the most-watched original series episode ever on Showtime at that time.
Dexter is an American television drama that was broadcast on the premium cable channel Showtime from October 1, 2006 to September 22, 2013. A total of 96 episodes of Dexter were broadcast over eight seasons. The series is based on characters created by Jeff Lindsay for his "Dexter" series of novels. The series follows the life of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a Miami Metro Police Department blood pattern analyst with a double life. While investigating murders in the homicide division, Dexter hunts and kills murderers and criminals who have escaped the justice system. Although the first season is based on the events of Darkly Dreaming Dexter, the series' subsequent seasons do not follow the novels in the series. Departing from the narrative of Lindsay's second Dexter novel Dearly Devoted Dexter, the show's writer Daniel Cerone said that the writers "didn't see the opportunity in the second book" to adapt it.
The series has received generally favorable reviews from critics, while the second season received universal acclaim. The pilot episode, which aired in the USA on October 1, 2006, attracted more than a million viewers, giving Showtime its highest series ratings in nearly two years. Encouraged by its critical success and high ratings, CBS began broadcasting Dexter for free-to-air on February 17, 2008, thus making Dexter the first program in two decades to air on a national broadcast network after being shown on a premium cable channel. Eight seasons comprising twelve episodes each have been broadcast in the United States and abroad. All eight seasons have been released on DVD and on Blu-ray; box sets containing the first three seasons were released on August 18, 2009, on both DVD and Blu-ray.

Danny and Bubba went ahead anyway and popcorn flew all over the playground).

Hate the last season of "Dexter"? Furious over the final episode? Livid over Deb's ending? Yeah, me too. So here's how it should have ended...(Watch ALL the way to the end of you'll miss something!) This is not a review or a discussion, but rather a re-cut of the 8th season into the storyline I would have preferred. I was of course limited to footage that actually exists, so it's not as full on the details as I wish I could provide, but I hope it offers something for "Dexter" fans (in particular, Debra fans) to use to erase the actual finale from their minds. On Episode 9, "Moving a Mountain" (June 9, 2014), Hall concludes his journey to Bangladesh, where rising seas are expected to submerge 17% of the country.[31] He learns that global warming is a human rights, public health and foreign policy issue. Sanjayan questions top climate scientists in their fields who collect data from the past, such as ice core samples, that explain how our climate is changing.
In June 2, 2014, Michael C. Hall travels to Bangladesh to see how climate change will impact workers and the poor in developing countries in the coming decades, when a projected 150 million people will be forced to leave their homes to escape sea level rise and increased drought, insect-borne disease and flooding. He finds that in low-lying, flood-prone, densely populated Bangladesh, sea level rise and the lengthening of the monsoon season, both caused by global warming, have already caused a migration of coastal people to Dhaka and other cities, and even across the border into India, because they have lost their homes or livelihoods. These factors are projected to lead to the displacement of 20 million of Bangladeshis by 2100, who are often forced to take dangerous work. Hall notes that ...

Dexter was this little town my family used to live in
All my kin lived real close and everyone had an opinion
Grandma and gramps lived up the street, right next to the walnut tree
Grandpa died of Parkinsons in 1983
Riding on the gocart at my next door neighbor's house
I couldn't tell the brake peddle from the cavities in his mouth
Ran right over his dog and cat as the wheels left the ground
I didn't know a tree could make such a resonating sound
Trips in the ambulance like rides at the county fair
Needles, shots, and setting bones anyone can bare
Hospitals smell real good, and HBO is free
Dexter town is simple people, just like you and me
Thanksgiving was a Roosters house on a cold holiday
I was voting turkey, but we had chicken anyway
Never thought that I'd get sick but the bird had its reasoning
Nothing I'd say quite like "Good ol' salmanella poisoning"
Trips in the ambulance like rides at the county fair
Needles, shots, and setting bones anyone can bare
Hospitals smell real good, and HBO is free
Dexter town is simple people, just like you and me
The Jenkins were some strange folks who lived on down the street
Mobile homes and pickup trucks, they were all some kind of freaks
Jimmy, he could fix a car but he couldn't read a book
