there're 2 new LEFT FOR DEAD tracks up on SOUNDCLOUD called 1946 and COP TRAP plus there's some rumors about about 4 new LEFT FOR DEAD E.P.s. FUCK YES! in case you ask yourself what the fuck 500514 has to do with LEFT FOR DEAD let me tell you: nothing! I just figured out that while the counter on my blog (which I put up 2 years after I started or so) says 300000 something hits the google counter says 500514 hits. cool!

MUTINY!

Lecky or "Shipwreck Leck" as he's called in the linernotes strikes again! this time as vocalist for WALK THE PLANK. honestly speaking I can't tell you much about them cause I haven't been able to find that much info about them. I can't tell you when this CD was released but what I can tell you is that this CD was released in 2005 and that the 7 tracks on this CD are taken from the 4 track demo CD-R and the self-titled 7" that were released in 2004. music-wise WALK THE PLANK are a little bit more melodic than Lecky's other bands were/are but basically it's still pissed off HARDCORE that has a pirate theme thing going on lyric-wise. click the cover to download!

a compilation, actually 2 split 7"es, that features IRON LUNG, MIND ERASER, HATRED SURGE and SCAPEGOAT has to be good I guess but the BRUTAL SUPREMACY comp. is not just a good one it's a great one! IRON LUNG go first unleashing 3 tracks of the 2-men inferno they are known for which are all called BRUTAL SUPREMACY. MIND ERASER are next with 4 tracks of fucked up HC/POWER VIOLENCE that sound so mean enough to make up for the vocalist's affiliation with the Hare Krishna bullshit. then it's time for HATRED SURGE and their brand of punishing GRINDCORE. 3 new tracks that are all top notch! last but not least there are SCAPEGOAT which deliver 7 tracks of insane POWER VIOLENCE. totally pissed off and vicious tunes!

BIRTH OF VENGEANCE

you didn't really think I wouldn't post about the re-issue of GEHENNA's debut 12" NEGOTIUM PERAMBULANS IN TENEBRIS on A389 RECORDS, or did you? I'm aware that it's already out since February and therefore old news in these days but I have to post about it nevertheless. in 2000 I lived right next to Füxen who ran BAD INFLUENCE RECORDS and a distro. one afternoon Füxen came over to my place with a record and told me "I got 3 of these today and I know you want one of them!" I replied something like: "what makes you sure?" and Füxen said: "the fact that it's GEHENNA's 1st full length and the fact that it is a monster of a record!" GEHENNA already were one of my fave bands and I expected NEGOTIUM PERAMBULANS IN TENEBRIS to be a good record but I didn't expect what came out of my speakers when the needle hit the record. I was blown away! GEHENNA's music has always been ugly, violent, spiteful, mean and hateful but never as much as on this record. fast forward to 2013: 13 years later GEHENNA is not only one of my fave bands GEHENNA and CITIZENS ARREST are my fave bands and there's no other record I've played as often as GEHENNA's NEGOTIUM PERAMBULANS IN TENEBRIS 12". since I played this record for the first time till today it has been the record that has helped me fight my own demons the most. when I had to face my worst nightmares and struggled to keep my sanity this was the soundtrack to it. the re-issue on A389 RECORDS has remastered versions of the songs and comes with a slightly altered artwork. while the cover of the CRAWLSPACE pressing was all black with an embossed GEHENNA logo and the title NEGOTIUM PERAMBULANS IN TENEBRIS printed on it in white the re-issue comes in a gatefold cover that has the artwork of the CD version on the cover which was on the backside of the lyric sheet of the 1st press (although NEGOTIUM PERAMBULANS IN TENEBRIS is written in different fonts now) and the track list on the backcover has been moved to the bottom and the font color has been changed from white to red. the song SEVEN CROWNS is now listed as THE SEVEN CROWNS while THE CHOKING SANDS is now listed as CHOKING SANDS only. as you can see below the re-issue also has printed labels instead of the black labels of the 1st press. the included poster of the cover atrwort scores extra points! I already mentioned that the tracks have been remastered for the re-issue. that was done at AUDIOSIEGE by Brad Boatright the guitarist of FROM ASHES RISE who did a good job! the sound is much cleaner, you can hear the single instruments better while they still sound thight and Mike's vocals sound even more demonic. the only thing I'm not so fond of is that the cover of G.G. ALLIN's BITE IT YOU SCUM has been replaced by a cover of D.R.I.'s YES MA'AM previously released on their O.D.R.I.E.P. 7" flexi especially since putting both tracks on the 12" wouldn't have been a problem. anyway, as good as the cover tunes may be they're no match for gems like FIRST BLOOD, BAPTIZED IN FALLOUT, THE TABLES TURN, CRUSH OPPOSITION or WIN BY ATTRITION as each of those is misantrophy turned into music! 

the version of the 12" on white vinyl came with a bonus 7" on red vinyl which is limited to 300 copies and has the tracks COVET THY CROWN and OURS TO DEVOUR as they appeared on the DEFINITELY NOT THE MAJORS compilation on side A and a cover of G.G. ALLIN's BITE IT YOU SCUM on side B. for therecord: BITE IT YOU SCUM was the perfect pick as cover song for GEHENNA! actually the song fits them so perfectly that you most likely wouldn't guess it's a cover and not a track of their own even though there's a world of difference between G.G. ALLIN's music and GEHENNA's music.

CHINGA TU MADRE

this is RUIDO's 1st 7" from 1997 which is special to me cause I not only like the music but it also was a present from my friend Ivan who interfered when I wanted to buy a copy of it in Amsterdam when we where on tour with SETE STAR SEPT and told me not to buy it cause I would get his copy. there are 2 versions of this 7" around. this one and one with a different cover and slightly different song-titles. CHINGA TU MADRE & CHINGA TU PAPI are called CHINGATE I & II e.g. and as RUIDO's vocalist Gen visits my blog once in a while he might feel tempted to to tell us why on his next visit. this little gem offers you 13 tracks of short, fast and pissed of HARDCORE with spanish lyrics and contains some of RUIDO's best tracks. I couldn't rip the tracks CHINGA TU MADRE & CHINGA TU PAPI in mp3 files of their own as they were too short therefore there are only 11 mp3s in the folder. click the cover to download.

MORE THAN JUST ALIVE!

this little gem was one of the records that I tried to track down since ages but never succeeded until a short time ago I finally got my hands on a copy of GORDON SOLIE MOTHERFUCKERS' CHAIRSHOT POLITICS 7"! as soon as it surfaced here one of the first things to do of course was to rip it so I could post it here. in case you aren't familiar with GORDON SOLIE MOTHERFUCKERS let me tell you that they were from Cleveland/Ohio and that Tony Erba who had sworn to never do vocals in another HARDCORE band again after he had left FACE VALUE took over vocal duties in GORDON SOLIE MOTHERFUCKERS nevertheless! they were active from 1998 to 2000 and shared members with 9 SHOCKS TERROR, actually GSMF had been supposed to be just a project band "with a goofy wrestling theme" in the beginning but developed into a great band that released this 7" in 1998 and a 10" called POWER BOMB ANTHEMS in 2000 on 625 THRASH. other lyrical themes besides wrestling include: the scene, cops and conspiracy therories! that's the reason why lyrical gold like: "DISCHARGE said 'it's no TV sketch' - you're goddamn right, it's life or death! / Vatican and Masons are at the root, William Cooper spoke the truth!" comes with their sloppy but violent and raging HARDCORE which is fucking awesome if you ask me! click the cover to download! pw: mean

CREATURES

after I had just found out that Florida's GOD HARVEST released their vinyl debut I got a mail from one of the members that said that a review copy for me is on the way. as that was already a while ago let me apologize for not managing to review this split 7" earlier first! and here we go: as I already mentioned that GOD HARVEST's vinyl debut is a split 7" I should also tell you that the other band on it is called COGS AND SPROCKETS I guess. as you most likely know I love records with cool packaging so let's start with looking at the packaging and the artwork. the 7" is housed in a thick black/white folder and comes with a single-sided poster with the lyrics of the 3 GOD HARVEST songs on it and a sticker of guitarist Austin's record label TACK HEAD. if you look at the artwork on the GOD HARVEST cover above you'll recognize that it not only has the track list slapped on it  right in the middle which looks pretty shitty in my opinion it also has the TACK HEAD logo slapped on it to make sure it really looks like shit no matter what. as there would have been plenty of space for both on the inside it's beyond me why they put them there. as the COGS AND SPROCKETS art isn't really outstanding as well let's look at the music. I haven't heard anything from COGS AND SPROCKETS before but I knew it is a 1-man project which doesn't do anything for me to be honest. even though I do like GRINDCORE in general in this case there are way too much effects on the vocals for my taste. the GOD HARVEST side contains 3 tracks of which GENETIC DEATH was already on their great 6 track demo. their 3 tracks are no let down! furious fast music between HARDCORE and GRINDCORE that reminds me of PULLING TEETH for whatever reason here and there. they also managed to write some nice lyrics and if I'm not mistaken also are the first band to have anti-Scientology lyrics I came across. get this for GOD HARVEST alone! click the TACK HEAD sticker below to download the split 7"! pw: mean         

NIHILISM NOT IDEALISM

let me start this with mentioning that most RUPTURE stuff doesn't do much for me. I actually think that their newer stuff is pretty weak to be honest and doesn't do anything for me but most of their older material doesn't do much more for me neither with a few exceptions including the 7 songs on this split 7" here. thinking about it as one of the tracks is NIHILISM NOT IDEALISM this split 7" even has one of my fave RUPTURE songs on it. anyway, the real reason you should give it a try is called SLAVESTATE! SLAVESTATE were a short-lived POWER VIOLENCE band from NY (which later changed their name to PNEUMATIC VALUES and then to AVULSION) that really smoked! they only did a demo, this split and another split 7" with LACK OF INTEREST plus some comp. tracks before they changed their name. they continued releasing records under the new names but nothing they released later could hold a candle to the SLAVESTATE material - sad but true! click the cover to download. password = mean

ok, here we go again: I know that the HUMMINGBIRD OF DEATH / SIDETRACKED split 6" is sold out cause COWABUNGA's CEO Nick told me that the 2 copies I got together with the 7" test press of this split were his last 2 copies. truth be told I'm not so much into SIDETRACKED. they aren't bad and they know how to handle their instruments but it just doesn't click you know. POST MORTEM

if you're a frequent reader of this blog you should have heard the label NORTHCORE here and there. in case you aren't familiar with the word let me tell you that NORTHCORE was a name used for a couple of bands from the north of Germany including LEBENSREFORM, LINSAY, LOXIRAN, CHISPA and others that have been around in the 90ies. most of them only did a couple of 7"es before they called it a day and without having been able to release everything they had recorded. well in case of LEBENSREFORM, LINSAY and LOXIRAN that has now changed cause their discographies are now at least available as digital downloads. click the pic to get them.
