India, officially the Republic of India (Bhārat Gaṇarājya), is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the south-west, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west;China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Myanmar (Burma) and Bangladesh to the east. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives; in addition, India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia.
Home to the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation and a region of historic trade routes and vast empires, the Indian subcontinent was identified with its commercial and cultural wealth for much of its long history. Four religions—Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism—originated here, whereas Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam arrived in the 1st millennium CE and also shaped the region's diverse culture. Gradually annexed by and brought under the administration of the British East India Company from the early 18th century and administered directly by the United Kingdom after the Indian Rebellion of 1857, India became an independent nation in 1947 after a struggle for independence that was marked by non-violent resistance led by Mahatma Gandhi.
Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. Educational methods include storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and directed research. Education frequently takes place under the guidance of educators, but learners may also educate themselves. Education can take place in formal or informal settings and any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts may be considered educational. The methodology of teaching is called pedagogy.
Education is commonly and formally divided into stages such as preschool or kindergarten, primary school, secondary school and then college, university or apprenticeship.
A right to education has been recognized by some governments, including at the global level: Article 13 of the United Nations' 1966 International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights recognizes a universal right to education. In most regions education is compulsory up to a certain age.
In general, a rural area or countryside is a geographic area that is located outside towns and cities. The Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services defines the word "rural" as encompassing "...all population, housing, and territory not included within an urban area. Whatever is not urban is considered rural."
Typical rural areas have a low population density and small settlements. Agricultural areas are commonly rural, though so are others such as forests. Different countries have varying definitions of "rural" for statistical and administrative purposes.

In this talk Mr.Desai talks about his efforts to bring forth free education to the kids in rural India, and also how the common man can contribute towards the same. He is a man committed to his dream to educate underprivileged children, living in the rural areas of Maharashtra and Rajasthan. In order to make money for this 52- year old professor goes around begging in Mumbai’s crowded local trains. He has done so for two years and has raised 50 lakh rupees. The money is used to run four English medium schools already, with a fifth school to open shortly. The people living in the areas where Mr Desai has set up the schools equate him to a God as he helped them achieve something they could ...
Full text here: https://www.b1g1.com/businessforgood/digitallearningday/ February 17, 2016 is Digital Learning Day. A day to celebrate advancing education through tech, and according to the official ‘Digital Learning Day’ website, a day started “as a way to actively spread innovative practices and ensure that all youth have access to high-quality digital learning opportunities no matter where they live.” No matter where they live. That’s a pretty bold concept, and I doubt even the founders of ‘DLDay’ know how far it reaches. The depth of digital learning, or ‘e-Learning’—is truly astonishing—spanning all the way to rural tribal villages in India. Four hours from the packed streets of Mumbai, the mountains are home to remote villages where water is still retrieved from wells and shoes ar...

A plethora of government initiatives to provide primary education to children in Rural India seems to have done no good for them as the quality of education remains extremely low! DNA brings you the ground reality of the level of education these children get.
In India, millions of children are living in rural and deprived areas without any access to basic educational tools and methodologies, that we take for granted in urban settings. This leads to rampant teacher absenteeism, high dropout rates in middle schools, and lack of motivation in the learning environment. Project VIKAS is an ambitious philanthropic initiative by eInfochips to tackle this imbalance in education. It focuses on improving the quality of education accessible to children in underfunded, remote rural schools of Gujarat. Till date, it has benefited 7000+ students in more than 100+ schools. This documentary captures select few moments from eInfochips team's recent visit to Vadali showcasing some of the tangible achievements of Project VIKAS since its inception in 2012. ...

When you think India, if you think spicy food, snake charmers, dodging cows, the Taj Mahal, and total chaos- you’re thinking about Northern India. It's an adventure waiting to happen, and will leave you wondering why it only accounts for 1% of world tourism. Join Ricky Moreno as he explores Delhi, Rajasthan, Agra, Rishikesh, and Varanasi. Welcome to Delhi. Say goodbye to your personal space. It’s crowded, it’s overwhelming, and definitely exhausting. One day here can feel like an entire week. The only way you’ll have any fun is to just put down the Purell and join the party. Instead of going straight to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, first I head west to hang with some locals in Rajasthan. Here, the people are welcoming, the desert is sprawling, and the camels command the streets. And it...

In Part One of my India travel video guide, I begin my travels in India with Calcutta (Kolkata). India had long been on my bucket list of countries to travel to in the world, and in April, 2013, I finally made it there, starting with Calcutta, with no better reason than the fact was I knew so little about that part of the country. Calcutta was once the capital of the British Empire in India, and today it's home to over 14 million people, which means the city itself is a crowded, dense, loud, but endlessly fascinating place to explore. In this video I explore the alleyways and grand buildings that make up B.B.D. Bagh, the area where the city was founded. After checking out a parade (a very common occurrence I was to later learn) and grabbing a roadside cup of chai, I stop at the home of f...

From here you can travel easily, either by car or train, down to Agra where most go to visit ...

Change is Inevitable but Change Process can be delayed because of several trivial reasons.Similar is the scenario in Rural India where hundreds of schools with top affiliations are running for last several years without any sign of awareness about the changes in the world outside their area.Lack of knowledge along with the smart method of imparting education is something haunting the rural India for which the 1st educational seminar was organized in Shiwan,Bihar-India by RBT school which has several branches in India. This was a very important platform for generating inquisitiveness among the masses from all sections of society.
Rural India presents an opportunity that can be unleashed if We can figure out a way to improve the educational infrastructure of the place to have more productive workforce. Even if the economy is dominantly agrarian, the people will be better placed if they were educated than otherwise.
Working mostly in extremely diverse regions, the mission of URMUL in Rajasthan is to lead young children towards an independent future who do not have access to proper education, by providing a package of developmental services that they themselves decide on, design, implement, and eventually finance. We congratulate you on being one of the top nine finalists of HCL Grant 2017.

Rural communities in the South continue to face serious challenges in getting highly educated students to return home after college graduation. Research indicates that education may be a cause and effect for this rural “brain drain” phenomenon, and also the key to reversing the trend. Studies have shown that efforts to improve rural education contribute to rapid economic development in those areas, while a more educated community can serve as a catalyst for business expansion and increased civic engagement. This complimentary webinar, presented by CSG South/SLC, highlights the impact of education on rural development and examines initiatives in rural communities to entice educated former residents to return and invest in their hometowns.

What does an education get you? In ancient times in China, education was the only way out of poverty -- in recent times it has been the best way. China's economic boom and talk of the merits of hard work have created an expectation that to study is to escape poverty. But these days China's higher education system only leads to jobs for a few, educating a new generation to unemployment and despair.
