i/ˈspeɪn/; Spanish: España [esˈpaɲa]), officially the Kingdom of Spain (Spanish: Reino de España), is a sovereign state largely located on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe, with archipelagos in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, and several small territories on and near the north African coast. Its mainland is bordered to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea except for a small land boundary with Gibraltar; to the north and northeast by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; and to the west and northwest by Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean. Along with France and Morocco, it is one of only three countries to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines. Extending to 1,214 km (754 mi), the Portugal–Spain border is the longest uninterrupted border within the European Union.
Spanish territory includes two archipelagos: the Balearic Islands, in the Mediterranean Sea, and the Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean off the African coast. It also includes two major exclaves, Ceuta and Melilla, in continental North Africa; and the islands and peñones (rocks) of Alborán, Alhucemas, Chafarinas and Vélez de la Gomera. With an area of 505,990 km2 (195,360 sq mi), Spain is the second largest country in Western Europe and the European Union, and the fourth largest country in Europe. By population, Spain is the sixth largest in Europe and the fifth in the European Union.

Spain (Auden)
Spain is a poem by W. H. Auden written after his visit to the Spanish Civil War and regarded by some as one of the most important literary works in English to emerge from that war. It was written and published in 1937.
Auden published two versions of the poem, first as a pamphlet Spain (1937), then, in revised form and titled "Spain 1937", in his book Another Time (1940). He later rejected the poem from his collected editions, regarding it as a "dishonest" poem that expressed political views that he never believed but which he thought would be rhetorically effective.
The poem describes the history that led up to the Spanish Civil War, then the arrival of the International Brigades at the war itself, then foresees a possible future that may result from the war.
The poem was widely discussed, notably by George Orwell in "Inside the Whale" (1940) and in E. P. Thompson's reply to Orwell, "Outside the Whale" (Out of Apathy, 1960).

Australian rules football in Europe
Australian rules football is played in Europe at an amateur level in a large number of countries. The oldest and largest leagues are those in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Denmark, each nation having a number of clubs, organised junior programs and women's football. The British AFL has now dramatically expanded into the Welsh, Scottish and English leagues. The Danish AFL has been responsible for the expansion of Australian Football into Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Norway. The governing body for Australian Football in Europe was founded in Frankfurt in January 2010; the body was initially called the European Australian Football Association, but changed its name to AFL Europe at a general assembly meeting in Milan in October of the same year. It currently has 19 member nations. AFL Europe, with backing of the AFL in Australia has overseen a large improvement in the organisation of Australian football in Europe.
The sport has grown from a few clubs and leagues started mainly by expatriate Australians and returning nationals in the late 1980s and early 1990s, to now having established leagues in over 15 nations, with the majority of players being non-Australian.

Al Jarreau - Spain (I Can Recall)
Al Jarreau's classic version of Chick Corea's already classic Spain. Corea wrote it as an instrumental with an intro based on the second movement of Joaquín Rodrigo's guitar concerto Concierto de Aranjuez. Jarreau put lyrics to the whole tune. Jarreau released it on the album This Time in 1980, and it's on virtually every one of his compilations. Opinions vary on who plays on what song on the album (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Time_(Al_Jarreau_album)#Personnel), but Abraham Laboriel is listed as its sole bass player, and that's obviously Steve Gadd on the drums. Corea wrote it as an instrumental with an intro based on the second movement of Joaquín Rodrigo's guitar concerto Concierto de Aranjuez. Jarreau put lyrics to the whole tune.
Jarreau released it on the album This Time in 1980, and it's on virtually every one of his compilations.
Opinions vary on who plays on what song on the album (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Time_(Al_Jarreau_album)#Personnel), but Abraham Laboriel is listed as its sole bass player, and that's obviously Steve Gadd on the drums. And probably Larry Williams on keyboard.

Puerto Banús is a marina located in the area of Nueva Andalucía district to the southwest of Marbella, Spain in Costa del Sol. Built in 1970 by José Banús, this luxury marina and shopping complex has since become one of the largest entertainment centers in Costa del Sol. Puerto Banús has high-end boutiques and shops, restaurants and bars, and nightclubs. It is very popular among international celebrities and people with high purchasing power.
Annually visited by an estimate of 5 million people, guests to the port tend to be mostly tourists from northern Europe and Arabs, along with Spanish tourists.
The streets of Puerto Banús are filled with expensive, luxurious, and fashionanble boutiques such as Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and so much more!

W. H. Auden September 1, 1939 Poem
This is my interpretation of W. H. Auden's poem, September 1, 1939 which he wrote on the occasion of Germany's invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939 which marked the beginning of World War II. Auden had just moved from England to the U.S. in the same year and he seems skeptical that the U.S. would want to get involved in this war in Europe. Americans, in Auden's opinion, were too comfortable in their homes, bars, and too busy in their daily lives to worry about war in Europe. Of course, his words were quite prophetic as we did try to remain neutral until the attack on Pearl Harbor over two years later.

Spain is a poem by W. H. Auden written after his visit to the Spanish Civil War and was described by George Orwell as "one of the few decent things that have been written about the Spanish war". It was written and published in 1937. Auden published two versions of the poem, first as a pamphlet Spain (1937), then, in revised form and titled "Spain 1937", in his book Another Time (1940). He later rejected the poem from his collected editions, regarding it as a "dishonest" poem that expressed political views that he never believed but which he thought would be rhetorically effective. I sit in one of the dives
On Fifty-second Street
Uncertain and afraid
As the clever hopes expire
Of a low dishonest decade:
Waves of anger and fear
Circulate over the bright
And darkened lands of the earth,
Obsessing our private lives;
The unmentionable odour of death
Offends the September night.
Accurate scholarship can
Unearth the whole offence
From Luther until now
That has driven a culture mad,
Find what occurred at Linz,
What huge imago made
A psychopathic god:
I and the public know
What all schoolchildren learn,
Those to whom evil is done
Do evil in return.
Exiled Thucydides knew
All that a speech can say
About Democracy,
And what dictators do,
The elderly rubbish they talk
To an apathetic grave;
Analysed all in his book,
The enlightenment driven away,
The habit-forming pain,
Mismanagement and grief:
We must suffer them all again.
Into this neutral air
Where blind skyscrapers use
Their full height to proclaim
The strength of Collective Man,
Each language pours its vain
Competitive excuse:
But who can live for long
In an euphoric dream;
Out of the mirror they stare,
Imperialism's face
And the international wrong.
Faces along the bar
Cling to their average day:
The lights must never go out,
The music must always play,
All the conventions conspire
To make this fort assume
The furniture of home;
Lest we should see where we are,
Lost in a haunted wood,
Children afraid of the night
Who have never been happy or good.
The windiest militant trash
Important Persons shout
Is not so crude as our wish:
What mad Nijinsky wrote
About Diaghilev
Is true of the normal heart;
For the error bred in the bone
Of each woman and each man
Craves what it cannot have,
Not universal love
But to be loved alone.
From the conservative dark
Into the ethical life
The dense commuters come,
Repeating their morning vow;
"I will be true to the wife,
I'll concentrate more on my work,"
And helpless governors wake
To resume their compulsory game:
Who can release them now,
Who can reach the deaf,
Who can speak for the dumb?
All I have is a voice
To undo the folded lie,
The romantic lie in the brain
Of the sensual man-in-the-street
And the lie of Authority
Whose buildings grope the sky:
There is no such thing as the State
And no one exists alone;
Hunger allows no choice

This is my interpretation of W. H. Auden's poem, September 1, 1939 which he wrote on the occasion of Germany's invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939 which marked the beginning of World War II. Auden had just moved from England to the U.S. in the same year and he seems skeptical that the U.S. would want to get involved in this war in Europe. Americans, in Auden's opinion, were too comfortable in their homes, bars, and too busy in their daily lives to worry about war in Europe. Of course, his words were quite prophetic as we did try to remain neutral until the attack on Pearl Harbor over two years later.

The weekend of March 21 2015 saw AFL Europe and DAFA play host to the Inaugural Champions League tournament which brought ten teams to Amsterdam to face off for the title in Australian Rules Football.
Teams qualified for the event after finishing as premiers in their local leagues allowing for 17 of the top teams in Europe to receive an invite and 10 to make their way to the Netherlands.

Al Jarreau's classic version of Chick Corea's already classic Spain.
Corea wrote it as an instrumental with an intro based on the second movement of Joaquín Rodrigo's guitar concerto Concierto de Aranjuez. Jarreau put lyrics to the whole tune.
Jarreau released it on the album This Time in 1980, and it's on virtually every one of his compilations.
Opinions vary on who plays on what song on the album (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Time_(Al_Jarreau_album)#Personnel), but Abraham Laboriel is listed as its sole bass player, and that's obviously Steve Gadd on the drums. And probably Larry Williams on keyboard.

Built in 1970 by José Banús, this luxury marina and shopping complex has since become one of the largest entertainment centers in Costa del Sol. Puerto Banús has high-end boutiques and shops, restaurants and bars, and nightclubs. It is very popular among international celebrities and people with high purchasing power.

Spain (i/ˈspeɪn/; Spanish: España [esˈpaɲa]), officially the Kingdom of Spain (Spanish: Reino de España), is a sovereign state largely located on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe, with archipelagos in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, and several small territories on and near the north African coast. Its mainland is bordered to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea except for a small land boundary with Gibraltar; to the north and northeast by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; and to the west and northwest by Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean. Along with France and Morocco, it is one of only three countries to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines. Extending to 1,214 km (754 mi), the Portugal–Spain border is the longest uninterrupted border within the European Union.
Spanish territory includes two archipelagos: the Balearic Islands, in the Mediterranean Sea, and the Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean off the African coast. It also includes two major exclaves, Ceuta and Melilla, in continental North Africa; and the islands and peñones (rocks) of Alborán, Alhucemas, Chafarinas and Vélez de la Gomera. With an area of 505,990 km2 (195,360 sq mi), Spain is the second largest country in Western Europe and the European Union, and the fourth largest country in Europe. By population, Spain is the sixth largest in Europe and the fifth in the European Union.

This lecture presents the early poetry of W.H. Auden. In "From the Very First Coming Down," Auden's relationship to the reader is considered, as well as the role of economy, truth, and morality in his poetics. The political Auden is examined in "Spain" and "September 1, 1939," along with his later practice of revising controversial poems. Finally, his interest in traditional forms, his vision of love, and his characteristic perspectivism, are explored in "This Lunar Beauty" and "As I Walked Out One Evening."

Uncertain and afraid
As the clever hopes expire
Of a low dishonest decade:
Waves of anger and fear
Circulate over the bright
And darkened lands of the earth,
Obsessing our private lives;
The unmentionable odour of death
Offends the September night.
Accurate scholarship can
Unearth the whole offence
From Luther until now
That has driven a culture mad,
Find what occurred at Linz,
What huge imago made
A psychopathic god:
I and the public know
What all schoolchildren learn,

This is my interpretation of W. H. Auden's poem, September 1, 1939 which he wrote on the occasion of Germany's invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939 which marked the beginning of World War II. Auden had just moved from England to the U.S. in the same year and he seems skeptical that the U.S. would want to get involved in this war in Europe. Americans, in Auden's opinion, were too comfortable in their homes, bars, and too busy in their daily lives to worry about war in Europe. Of course, his words were quite prophetic as we did try to remain neutral until the attack on Pearl Harbor over two years later.

Spain is a poem by W. H. Auden written after his visit to the Spanish Civil War and was described by George Orwell as "one of the few decent things that have been written about the Spanish war". It was written and published in 1937.
Auden published two versions of the poem, first as a pamphlet Spain (1937), then, in revised form and titled "Spain 1937", in his book Another Time (1940). He later rejected the poem from his collected editions, regarding it as a "dishonest" poem that expressed political views that he never believed but which he thought would be rhetorically effective.
The poem describes the history that led up to the Spanish Civil War, then the arrival of the International Brigades at the war itself, then foresees a possible future that may result from the war.
The poem was widely discussed, notably by George Orwell in "Inside the Whale" (1940) and in E. P. Thompson's reply to Orwell, "Outside the Whale" (Out of Apathy, 1960).

Wystan Hugh Auden (/ˈwɪstən ˈhjuː ˈɔːdən/;[1] 21 February 1907 – 29 September 1973) was an English poet, who later became an American citizen.
Auden was a prolific writer of prose essays and reviews on literary, political, psychological and religious subjects, and he worked at various times on documentary films, poetic plays, and other forms of performance. Throughout his career he was both controversial and influential, and critical views on his work ranged from sharply dismissive, treating him as a lesser follower of W. B. Yeats and T. S. Eliot, to strongly affirmative, as in Joseph Brodsky's claim that he had "the greatest mind of the twentieth century". After his death, his poems became known to a much wider public than during his lifetime through films, broadcasts, and popular media.

The weekend of March 21 2015 saw AFL Europe and DAFA play host to the Inaugural Champions League tournament which brought ten teams to Amsterdam to face off for the title in Australian Rules Football.
Teams qualified for the event after finishing as premiers in their local leagues allowing for 17 of the top teams in Europe to receive an invite and 10 to make their way to the Netherlands.
