Kurdish may refer to:
Kurdish nationalism is the political movement holding that the Kurdish people are deserving of a sovereign nation in their homeland, Kurdistan, partitioned out of the territories in which Kurdish people form a majority. Currently, these territories lie in northern Iraq (including, but not limited to, Iraqi Kurdistan), northwestern Iran (Iranian Kurdistan), southeastern Turkey (Turkish Kurdistan), and small parts of northern and northeastern Syria (Syrian Kurdistan).
Early Kurdish nationalism had its roots in the days of the Ottoman Empire, within which Kurds were a significant ethnic group. With the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, the Kurdish-majority territories were divided between the newly formed states of Iraq, Iran, Syria and Turkey, making Kurds a significant ethnic minority in each state. Kurdish nationalist movements have long been suppressed by Turkey, Iran and the Arab-majority states of Iraq and Syria, all of whom fear loss of territory to a potential independent Kurdistan. Since the 1970s, Iraqi Kurds have pursued the goal of greater autonomy and even outright independence against the Baath Party regimes, which responded with brutal repression. In the 1980s, an armed insurgency led by the Patriotic Front of Kurdistan challenged the Turkish state, which responded with martial law. After the 1991 Gulf War, Iraqi Kurds were protected against the armies of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein by NATO-enforced no fly zones, allowing them considerable autonomy and self-government outside the control of the Iraqi central government. After the 2003 invasion of Iraq that ousted dictator Saddam Hussein, Iraqi Kurdistan became an autonomous region, enjoying a great measure of self-governance but stopping short of full independence.
Kurdistan /ˌkɜːrdɪˈstɑːn/ (Kurdish: [ˌkurdɪˈstan]; "Homeland of the Kurds or Land of the Kurds"; also formerly spelled Curdistan; ancient name: Corduene) or Greater Kurdistan, is a roughly defined geo-cultural region wherein the Kurdish people form a prominent majority population, and Kurdish culture, language, and national identity have historically been based. Kurdistan roughly encompasses the northwestern Zagros and the eastern Taurus mountain ranges.
Contemporary use of the term refers to four parts of a greater Kurdistan, which include parts of eastern and southeastern Turkey (Northern Kurdistan), northern Syria (Western Kurdistan), northern Iraq (Southern Kurdistan), and northwestern Iran (Eastern Kurdistan). Some Kurdish nationalist organizations seek to create an independent nation state of Kurdistan, consisting of some or all of the areas with Kurdish majority, while others campaign for greater Kurdish autonomy within the existing national boundaries.
Iraqi Kurdistan first gained autonomous status in a 1970 agreement with the Iraqi government, and its status was re-confirmed as an autonomous entity within the federal Iraqi republic in 2005. There is a province by the name Kurdistan in Iran; it is not self-ruled. Kurds fighting in the Syrian Civil War were able to take control of large sections of northern Syria as forces loyal to Bashar al-Assad withdrew to fight elsewhere. Having established their own government, some Kurds called for autonomy in a democratic Syria; others hoped to establish an independent Kurdistan.

Iraq (/ɪˈræk/, i/ɪˈrɑːk/, or /aɪˈræk/; Arabic: العراق al-‘Irāq, Kurdish: Êraq), officially the Republic of Iraq (Arabic: جمهورية العراق Jumhūrīyat al-‘Irāq; Kurdish: كۆماری عێراق Komar-i ‘Êraq), is a country in Western Asia. The country borders Turkey to the north, Iran to the east, Kuwait to the southeast, Saudi Arabia to the south, Jordan to the southwest, and Syria to the west. The southern part of Iraq is within the Arabian Peninsula. The capital, Baghdad, is in the centre of the country and its largest city. The largest ethnic groups in Iraq are Arabs and Kurds. Other ethnic groups include Assyrians, Turkmen, Shabakis, Yazidis, Armenians, Mandeans, Circassians, and Kawliya. Around 95% of the country's 36 million citizens are Shia or Sunni Muslims, with Christianity, Yarsan, Yezidism, and Mandeanism also present.
Iraq has a narrow section of coastline measuring 58 km (36 mi) on the northern Persian Gulf and its territory encompasses the Mesopotamian Alluvial Plain, the northwestern end of the Zagros mountain range, and the eastern part of the Syrian Desert. Two major rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates, run south through the centre of Iraq and flow into the Shatt al-Arab near the Persian Gulf. These rivers provide Iraq with significant amounts of fertile land.
The Kurds (Kurdish: کورد Kurd) are an ethnic group in the Middle East, mostly inhabiting a contiguous area spanning adjacent parts of eastern and southeastern Turkey (Northern Kurdistan), western Iran (Eastern or Iranian Kurdistan), northern Iraq (Southern or Iraqi Kurdistan), and northern Syria (Western Kurdistan or Rojava). The Kurds have ethnically diverse origins. They are culturally and linguistically closely related to the Iranian peoples and, as a result, are often themselves classified as an Iranian people.Kurdish nationalists claim that the Kurds are descended from the Hurrians and the Medes, (the latter being another Iranian people) and the claimed Median descent is reflected in the words of the Kurdish national anthem: "we are the children of the Medes and Kai Khosrow". The Kurdish languages form a subgroup of the Northwestern Iranian languages.
The Kurds are estimated to number, worldwide, around 30–32 million, possibly as high as 37 million, with the majority living in West Asia; however there are significant Kurdish diaspora communities in the cities of western Turkey, in particular Istanbul. A recent Kurdish diaspora has also developed in Western countries, primarily in Germany. The Kurds are the majority population in the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan and in the autonomous region of Rojava, and are a significant minority group in the neighboring countries Turkey and Iran, where Kurdish nationalist movements continue to pursue greater autonomy and cultural rights.

The Kurdistan Regional Government in northern Iraq says the date to hold an independence referendum has been set and won't be changed. That was in response to a request by US secretary of state Rex Tillerson to postpone the referendum. During a telephone call on Thursday, Tillerson told Masoud Barzani that he favours dialogue instead, between the Kurdish region and the Iraqi government. The US and other Western nations are worried the vote, could lead to renewed conflict with the Iraqi government in Baghdad and distract the Kurds from fighting ISIL. Turkey, Iran and Syria which also have large Kurdish populations all oppose an independent Kurdish state. So, could this vote lead to an independent Kurdish state? and what will that mean for Iraq and the region? Presenter: Imran Kh...

The war with ISIS in Iraq is drawing to a close, but the day after will be no easier. With Iraqi Kurdistan going for an independence referendum, Baghdad may not be eager to accept the vote. War in Syria 2017 - The Battle of Raqqa is the fifth and final phase of the Raqqa campaign launched by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF and YPG) in the city of Raqqa. The battle began on 6 June 2017, and is being supported by airstrikes and ground troops from the US-led coalition. The operation was named the "Great War" by the SDF. Kurdish YPG & SDF forces continue advances into city. On 14 September, the SDF fully secured al-Thaknah, "one of (Raqqa's) most important neighborhoods", after a 24-hour-long battle. With al-Thaknah captured, the SDF controlled about 70% of Raqqa. By this time, the situation of the remaining 300 to 400 enemy fighters in the city had become desperate, as they lacked fresh water, food, ammunition and weaponry; some of them were even sent foraging into SDF-held ...

An award-winning Israeli documentary by Itai Anghel about the war led by Kurds against Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) in Syria and Iraq. Kurdish freedomfighters, both female and male, from YPG, YPJ, PKK and Peshmerga are the most successful and efficient warriors against the medieval terrorists from the so called Islamic State. Kurds want to set up a liberal, feminist and direct democratic state called Kurdistan, their traditional homeland, in the Middle East. But they are currently brutally opressed and prevented by either dictatorial states like Syria and Iraq or islamist like Turkey and Iran from fulfilling their dream.
Iraqi Kurds have set September 25th as the day on which they will vote for independence. Peter Galbraith, former US ambassador to Croatia, debates Daniel Serwer, former US envoy to Bosnia, on whether the time is right for Iraqi Kurds to declare independence.
The Iraqi Kurdish independence referendum is expected to be held on September 25. While countries like the US, Turkey, Syria, and Iran have opposed it, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly voiced support to the move by describing the Kurds “a nation of fighters who have proven political commitment and are worthy of independence.” Why is Israel taking a position that appears to clash with Washington’s preference? How would a potential independence of the Kurdish region impact Middle Eastern politics? Earlier this month, The Strategist, an analysis site of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, predicted in an article that China is ready for the “Space Silk Road” Initiative with a space information corridor being expanded, adding that China is ambitious for integrating suc...

To the Bat Cave, let's go
We knew this love was just a game
I thought you felt, you felt the same
And now it's time for you to say
That I must go my own way
Now here I am, all alone
Waiting for you by the phone
Cause I can't live without you no more
I only love you and that's for sure
Drop that ghetto blaster
To the Batmobile, let's go
My head is numb, without thought it was
My heart is numb but you thought it did
When I look in the mirror, it just takes place
Cause when I see, I see your face
Now you don't know what's going on
Cause you just think that I've been wrong
But I tell you, babe, what's going on
It is your feeling that's too strong
Think I better let you know
That it's time for you to go
Cause you're gonna break my heart
Think I better let you know
That it's time for you to go
