Weird Forest says hello to the 21st century with our first digital-only release: Excavacations "In Perris-Beauchamp". Mastered by M. Geddes Gengras, this brand-new album is the duo’s most accessible presentation of their trademark amalgamation of ambient, rock, drone, pop, and electronic music. Employing a frontier-centric approach similar to current and former labelmates Grouper, Emeralds, Sean McCann, and Sun Araw, Excavacations are set apart by their ability to transport noise-laden soundscapes into the pop realms inhabited by Sufjan Stevens, Van Dyke Parks, Dirty Projectors, and Sonic Youth. The new Mats Gustafsson / Paal Nilssen-Love re-issue LP+7" is now available. Awesome free squawk duo madness contains historic archive 7" of the duo's very first musical meeting! Also got the brand new CD from Ava Mendoza's duo with Nick Tamburro. This is the official release of the special tour-edition side of their split tape w/ Mucky the Ducky.
The new album from Iibiis Rooge, the collaboration of High Wolf & Neil Campbell (aka Astral Social Club), ships next week. Preorders are now available. Also have 2 special tour edition tapes available, both splits. My band, Garrincha, joins Delaware duo Roped Off on one tape & the other one pairs spectacular guitarist Ava Mendoza with 21st century improvisers Mucky The Ducky. The latest Weird Forest releases are now available, including Weird Forest's first CD-only release in a few years: Excavacations Ojbect Permanence. It's one of those albums that really works as a whole so you can preview the entire album here before you buy. Also got 3 new tapes: an awesome split with legendary west coast free-form collective Smegma and east coast noise upstarts Colour Buk + some sounds from the local KDVS freak music scene. KDVS is the college radio station at UC Davis and a fertile breeding ground for music weirdos for decades now. Monterey Babe Aquarium bring some chill, sunny CA sounds on their tape while Sagan Genesis and Waxy Tomb partake in much darker sounds with their split tape. You can get all 4 new Weird Forest releases in a special post-paid bundle. Sagan Genesis and Waxy Tomb will combine efforts as a collaborative duo on a west coast tour in April with Garrincha so keep an eye out for that.
