Transparency and translucency

In the field of optics, transparency (also called pellucidity or diaphaneity) is the physical property of allowing light to pass through the material without being scattered. On a macroscopic scale (one where the dimensions investigated are much, much larger than the wavelength of the photons in question), the photons can be said to follow Snell's Law. Translucency (also called translucence or translucidity) is a super-set of transparency: it allows light to pass through, but does not necessarily (again, on the macroscopic scale) follow Snell's law; the photons can be scattered at either of the two interfaces where there is a change in index of refraction, or internally. In other words, a translucent medium allows the transport of light while a transparent medium not only allows the transport of light but allows for image formation. The opposite property of translucency is opacity. Transparent materials appear clear, with the overall appearance of one color, or any combination leading up to a brilliant spectrum of every color.

Nagi Yanagi

Nagi Yanagi (やなぎ なぎ, Yanagi Nagi, born May 31, 1987) is a Japanese singer-songwriter from Kansai, Japan and is signed to Geneon. Initially, she sang and produced music independently beginning in 2005. Between 2009 and 2011, Yanagi was the guest vocalist for the music group Supercell. Yanagi collaborated with composer Jun Maeda of Key to produce the original concept album Owari no Hoshi no Love Song released in April 2012. Yanagi released her debut single "Vidro Moyō" in February 2012, which is used as the ending theme to the anime Waiting in the Summer.

Career

Nagi Yanagi began posting cover versions of songs online in 2005, and starting producing original dōjin music in 2006 under the name CorLeonis. She released four studio albums individually: EN (2006), Leonis (2007), Freirinite (2008), and Oort no Yume (オールトの夢) (2010).Leonis was only released online via Yanagi's website. Two more releases followed in 2011: the single "Hyōka no Kuni" (氷下の国) and the best of album Ame no Umi (雨の海). In May 2006, she formed the music duo Binaria with female singer Annabel. Between 2007 and 2011, Binaria released two mini-albums (Alhaja (2007) and Forma (2007)), one best of album (Sonido (2010)), and four singles ("Epoca" (2008), "Alba" (2009), "Delightful Doomsday" (2010), and "Nachtflug" (2011)). Binaria also collaborated with the singer Cassini for the single "Rueda" (2007). In January 2007, Yanagi formed the musical unit Inochi Kokonotsu with composer KTG (an acronym of Ken The Garage), and the group put out a single album, Tortoiseshell (トーティシェル), on April 29, 2007 before dissolving in June 2007.

Immediate Music, LLC (commonly known as Immediate Music) is a music composition company based in Santa Monica that is notable for providing a specialized library of high-end trailer music for commercial motion pictures. Since 1992, Immediate Music has licensed music from its library to hundreds of theatrical trailers and television spots for all the major Hollywood studios. The company's music has been featured in the trailers for films such as Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Avatar, Iron Man, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Coraline, Kingdom of Heaven, Dante's Peak, Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, X-Men: The Last Stand, the Matrix films, the Spider-Man films, The Wolfman, Assembly and the Harry Potter films.

In 2007, Immediate received an Emmy for "Outstanding Music Composition in a Sports Program" for their work on the 20th Olympic Winter Games. Immediate Music has its own band, called Globus, that fuses cinematic orchestral music with contemporary and world music rhythms. Most public albums for Immediate Music are under the name Immediate.
