Year Thirteen

Year Thirteen is an educational year group in schools in many countries including England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. It is sometimes the thirteenth and final year of compulsory education, or alternatively a year of post-compulsory education.

Australia

In certain Australian states, some schools will offer a ‘Year 13’ programme to students who wish to complete the usual one-year Year 12 programme over two years, or who were not successful in a sufficient number of subjects to attain the relevant Year 12 qualification on their first attempt. Year 13 students generally undertake standard Year 12 subjects alongside Year 12 students, and the majority of students will not undertake Year 13.

New Zealand

In New Zealand, Year Thirteen is the second year of post-compulsory education. Students entering Year 13 are usually aged between 16.5 and 18. A student may stay in Year Thirteen until the end of the calendar year following their 19th birthday. Year Thirteen pupils are educated in secondary schools or in area schools.

Franco Battiato

Francesco "Franco" Battiato (Italian: [ˈfraŋko batˈtjaːto]; born 23 March 1945, Riposto, Sicily) is an Italian singer-songwriter, composer, filmmaker and, under the pseudonym Süphan Barzani, also a painter. Battiato's songs contain esoteric, philosophical and religious themes.

He is and has been for decades one of the most popular pop singer-songwriters in Italy. His unique sound, song-crafting and especially his lyrics, often containing philosophical, religious, and culturally exotic references, as well as tackling or painting universal themes about the human condition - unusual subjects for pop songs - earned him a unique spot on Italy's music scene, and the nickname of "Il Maestro" ("The Master" or "The Teacher"). His work includes songwriting and joint production efforts with several Italian and international musicians and pop singers, including the long-lasting professional relationship with Italian singer Alice. Together with Alice, Franco Battiato represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 1984 with the song "I treni di Tozeur".

Jim Greco

Jim Greco (born December 25, 1977) is an American professional skateboarder. Greco has appeared in videos such as Zero's "Misled Youth", "Asian Goddess", "Baker Bootleg, "Baker 2G", "Baker 3", "Baker Has A Deathwish" and "The Deathwish Video".

Early life

Greco was born in Connecticut, United States (U.S.).

Skateboarding

In 2005, Greco became part of a new footwear company called "Supra," along with Erik Ellington, Tom Penny, Antwuan Dixon, Chad Muska, and KR3W owner Angel Cabada. Some of his pro model shoes were the "Thunder" and the "Hammer" for Supra footwear.

Entrepreneur

Greco co-founded a new eyewear company called Brigada with Ellington, Andrew Reynolds, and Terry Kennedy in 2007. The company was financed solely by their own savings. The Bakerboys Distribution company was established in the same year, in partnership with Reynolds and Ellington.

Greco left Baker Skateboards in 2008, along with Ellington and Dixon, to start Deathwish Skateboards, which is distributed by Bakerboys Distribution. As of October 2014, Bakerboys Distribution consists of the following brands: Deathwish Skateboards, Baker Skateboards, Heroin Skateboards, Shake Junt, Brigada, Vol. 4, Palace, and Hammers.
