The Qing dynasty (Chinese: 清朝; pinyin: Qīng Cháo; Wade–Giles: Ch'ing Ch'ao; IPA: [tɕʰíŋ tʂʰɑ̌ʊ̯]), officially the Great Qing (Chinese: 大清; pinyin: Dà Qīng), also called the Empire of the Great Qing, or the Manchu dynasty, was the last imperial dynasty of China, ruling from 1644 to 1912 with a brief, abortive restoration in 1917. It was preceded by the Ming dynasty and succeeded by the Republic of China. The Qing multi-cultural empire lasted almost three centuries and formed the territorial base for the modern Chinese state.
A dynasty (UK /ˈdɪnəsti/, US /ˈdaɪnəsti/) is a sequence of rulers from the same family, usually in the context of a feudal or monarchical system but sometimes also appearing in elective republics. The dynastic family or lineage may be known as a "house"; this may be styled "royal", "princely", "comital", etc. depending upon the chief or present title borne by its members. Historians consider many sovereign states' histories, such as Ancient Egypt, the Carolingian Empire and Imperial China, within a framework of successive dynasties. As such, the term "dynasty" may be used to delimit the era during which the family reigned and to describe events, trends, and artifacts of that period ("a Ming-dynasty vase"). The word "dynasty" itself is often dropped from such adjectival references ("a Ming vase").
Until the 19th century, it was taken for granted that a legitimate function of a monarch was to aggrandize his dynasty: that is, to increase the territory, wealth, and power of his family members. The longest-surviving dynasty in the world is the Imperial House of Japan, the Yamato dynasty, whose reign is traditionally dated to 660 BC.
China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a sovereign state in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of over 1.35 billion. The PRC is a one-party state governed by the Communist Party, with its seat of government in the capital city of Beijing. It exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces; five autonomous regions; four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing); two mostly self-governing special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau); and claims sovereignty over Taiwan.
Covering approximately 9.6 million square kilometers, China is the world's second-largest country by land area, and either the third or fourth-largest by total area, depending on the method of measurement. China's landscape is vast and diverse, ranging from forest steppes and the Gobi and Taklamakan deserts in the arid north to subtropical forests in the wetter south. The Himalaya, Karakoram, Pamir and Tian Shan mountain ranges separate China from South and Central Asia. The Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, the third- and sixth-longest in the world, run from the Tibetan Plateau to the densely populated eastern seaboard. China's coastline along the Pacific Ocean is 14,500 kilometres (9,000 mi) long, and is bounded by the Bohai, Yellow, East and South China Seas.

The Cup of Solid Gold (simplified Chinese: 巩金瓯; traditional Chinese: 鞏金甌; pinyin: gǒng jīn ōu) was the first official national anthem of China. It was created during the Qing dynasty in 1911 and was used until 1912, the date of the establishment of the Republic of China.
The melody was composed by Pu Tong (溥侗), a high-ranking officer of the Imperial Guard. The lyrics, in Classical Chinese, were penned by Yan Fu, commander of the Qing Navy. Guo Cengxin (郭曾炘), Master of Ceremonies, made some minor adjustments and arranged the music. Gong Jin'ou was adopted by the Qing government on the 13th Day and 8th Month of the 3rd Year of the Xuantong Emperor's reign (October 4, 1911). However, only six days later was the Wuchang Uprising, which effectively led to the end of the Qing dynasty with the declaration of the Republic of China on January 1, 1912 and the abdication of the emperor on February 12, 1912. As a result, the anthem never gained any notability. Since it praises the Qing dynasty specifically, it is also a royal anthem.

With the dynasties of the Ming and the Qing came social security and flourishing international trade. The White Lotus Movement advocated progressive thinking in the time of the conservative Ming dynasty. In 1616 the Qing dynasty came to power. Also known as the Manchu dynasty, the Qing refused to open their borders to limitless trade which led to frustrated European merchants. This caused hostility and mistrust of the "barbaric Chinese". Shortly thereafter China's economy lost its race against European Colonialism and would lose military influence after gunpowder reached Europe. The Emperors and Empresses Dowager of the Chinese Empire during the era of the Great Qing Dynasty which ruled the "Middle Kingdom" from 1644 to 1912 from Nurhaci, the founding Emperor in Manchuria (then known as the Jin Dynasty) to the famous last Emperor of China.
This is a video about the Qing Chinese Army from 1860 to 1911. The Chinese during this time were armed with a variety of Italian, Russian, French, and German weapons. There was little standardization and every regional army had different equipment and training. Despite its potential, the Qing were defeated in the Sino-French War, First Sino Japanese War, and the Boxer Rebellion due to corruption and poor leadership. The Great Qing (Pure) Dynasty, also known as the Manchu Dynasty, came to power in Manchuria (as the Later Jin) and in 1644 succeeding in taking control of all of China from the crumbling Ming dynasty. During their rule Imperial China reached its peak of size and power, particularly under the Emperors KangXi, Yongzheng and Qianlong. In the 19th Century rebellions and foreign pressure increased and the fortunes of the dynasty began to recede. Despite an attempt at reform in 1901 the Qing Empire fell in 1912 with the abdication of the last Emperor. There was a short restoration during the First World War but the era of the warlords and the Republic was not to be suppressed.
Qin Shi Huang (260–210 BC), personal name Ying Zheng, was the King of the state of Qin (r. 246–221 BC[) who conquered all other Warring States and united China in 221 BC. Rather than maintain the title of kingborne by the Shang and Zhou rulers, he ruled as the First Emperor of the Qin dynasty from 220 to 210 BC. The title emperor (huangdi) would continue to be borne by Chinese rulers for the next two millennia.

Yes! The famous Chinese "Vampires/Zombies" or dead evil walking corpses were actually inspired from the Ghao Xong (Miao or Hmong)'s legends in Xiangxi, Hunan province, China. This has been said to be a real practice among the Ghao Xong which were most likely found and written down during the Ming Dynasty. In early China, the Miao (Hmong/Hmu/Ghao Xong) people were known to be the first kind of people to have practice black magic and witchcraft. A film about Chengde Qingyin Hui (承德清音会, Chengde Qing Music Society), the revived tradition of palace entertainment music from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), China's last imperial dynasty, which survives to the present day. The musical group featured in the film is the Chengde Mountain Resort Palace Music Society (Bishu Shanzhuang Gongting Yueshe, 避暑山庄宫廷乐社), a large orchestra of traditional instruments, including many that are typical of the Qing Dynasty. Filmed at the Chengde Mountain Resort (Bishu Shanzhuang, 避暑山庄) in Chengde (承德市), northeastern Hebei province, northern China. Chengde is located 139 miles (224 km) northeast of Beijing and borders Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Beijing, and Tianjin.

The First Sino-Japanese War (1 August 1894 - 17 April 1895) was fought between Qing Dynasty China and Meiji Japan, primarily over the control of Korea. The war served to demonstrate the success of Japan since the Meiji Restoration as compared with the Self-Strengthening Movement in China, and also highlighted a shift in regional power from China to Japan. The conflict began as Japan sought to annex Korea to protect it's own interests and prevent another country from doing so first. Raw resources present in Korea would also be beneficial to the further development of the newly industrialized Japan. On February 27, 1876, Japan imposed the Treaty of Ganghwa on Korea; forcing Korea to open itself to Japanese and foreign trade and to proclaim its independence from China in its foreign relations...
From Taiping Rebellion to Fall of Qing Dynasty (1850-1911). Fall of Qing and Boxer a bit rushed. For my students in high school Chinese History. Information mostly from Rhoads Murphey's _A History of Asia_, Ist Edition (1992).
After three trips to the 'Middle Kingdom' in eight years (ten museum visits) I was compelled to edit the footage I have been privileged to come back with into this comprehensive DVD on chinese ceramics, unfolding in dynastic order. The majority of the commentary within comes from a remarkable tour of the Shanghai Museum by a curator there. Additional comments are made by Coeleen Kiebert (M.S., UCSC). Playlist of documentaries about Chinese major dynasties: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiVCagCDXANC6RPVc0NAzj3BcWHf5S1mK Under Five Emperors of 150 years' constructing, Yuanming Yuan (The Old Summer Palace) became the largest and most luxurious royal garden in Qing Dynasty (1644-1912 AD), which was regarded as the "real garden of all gardens". In 1860, the Anglo-France joint force burned the Yuanming Yuan after their three days plundering during the second Opium War. The Yuanming Yuan was totally destroyed by Eight-Nation Alliance in the summer of 1900. This documentary is based on narration of the royal painter Giuseppe Castiglione (Lang Shining) (a former Italian missionary) and plenty of mails and diaries written by British and French missionaries and soldiers.
