Buachaille Etive Mòr (Scottish Gaelic: Buachaille Eite Mòr, meaning "the great herdsman of Etive"), generally known to climbers simply as The Buachaille, is a mountain at the head of Glen Etive in the Highlands of Scotland. Its pyramidal form, as seen from the A82 road when travelling towards Glen Coe, makes it one of the most recognisable mountains in Scotland, and one of the most depicted on postcards and calendars. Buachaille Etive Mòr takes the form of a ridge nearly five miles (8 km) in length, almost entirely encircled by the River Etive and its tributaries. The ridge contains four principal tops: from north-east to south-west these are Stob Dearg (1022 m), Stob na Doire (1011 m), Stob Coire Altruim (941 m) and Stob na Bròige (956 m). Saturday 18th June 2016 was forecast to be a great day weather wise in the western highlands so I picked Peter Adams up at 7am in Glasgow and we ventured into the Glencoe area, stopping off at Buachaille Etive Mor. I'd previously done the Curved Ridge ascent of Stob Dearg but for Peter, whom I'd also completed Aonach Eagach Ridge with, it was a first. Absolutely amazing climb with views to due for as the weather was just so good. We met a lot of friends enroute, most of who did Crowberry Tower which we did not. We spent ages up top watching the light change on the hills. The views over to Ben Nevis, The Mamores, The Grey Corries and The Essians were just sublime. The midges were out in force up top so be beat a retreat down the tourist path back to the main carpark and were offered a li...

A short film documenting the Linlithgow Rambler's climb up Buachaille Etive Mor's Stob Dearg and Stob na Broige on the notorious Curved Ridge
Stob na Broige is the Munro at the Glen Etive side of the mountain. I had been up Stob Dearg a few years ago but never had time to visit Stob na Broige. I headed up the Lairig Gartain and up via Coire Altruim and was lucky to get some views in between the rain. Music.... Thea Gilmour... Sol Invictus
