Philadelphia Fire Department Ladder 23, Pipeline 20, Squrt 43, using spare Squrt 257, Battalion 1, Ladder 5, Engine 13, Medic 50, Medic 27, Engine 11, and Rescue 1 responding and arriving on location of a subway box assignment on the 1600 block of John F Kennedy Blvd. I believe Medic 27 was responding for a medical assignment with Ladder 9 at the same location. Ladder 23 is a 1998 ALF and Pipeline 20 is a 2007 ALF. They are housed together, along with Medic 1, at 10th and Cherry Streets in Chinatown. Squrt 257 is a 1998 ALF 54' (EX-Squrt 243, EX-Squrt 55, EX-Squrt 8). Just after lift off it is possible to see vultures passing by the left side of the aircraft, the FO in control, quickly disconnected the autopilot and with a slightly pitch down attitude may have avoided a bird ingestion by the left engine.

How to manually (orally) inflate a Mustang Survival MD3184 automatic (Hydrostatic - HIT) Personal Flotation Device.
I started wondering about this after automatically inflating my PFD by jumping into a pool at a US Sailing Safety at Sea Seminar. Once I packed it back up how to get at the inflation tube was no longer obvious.
I believe oral inflation is a requirement for ORR races such as Marion to Bermuda.

Just after lift off it is possible to see vultures passing by the left side of the aircraft, the FO in control, quickly disconnected the autopilot and with a slightly pitch down attitude may have avoided a bird ingestion by the left engine.

I started wondering about this after automatically inflating my PFD by jumping into a pool at a US Sailing Safety at Sea Seminar. Once I packed it back up how to get at the inflation tube was no longer obvious.
I believe oral inflation is a requirement for ORR races such as Marion to Bermuda.
