The launch of ‘The Modi Doctrine: New Paradigms in India’s Foreign Policy’, was also marked by a panel discussion on the topic on Tuesday.

A book encapsulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s outlook on foreign policy and global affairs was launched at the Indian High Commission in London. The launch of ‘The Modi Doctrine: New Paradigms in India’s Foreign Policy’, a collection of essays by a range of authors who focus on different aspects of India’s engagement with the world under the Modi-led BJP government, was also marked by a panel discussion on the topic on Tuesday.

“Each of the chapters are written by experts and analysts in their field, which brings enormous credibility and impartiality to the book. What stands out is the people-centric approach to foreign policy under Prime Minister Modi. It is also important to stress the linkage between domestic and foreign policy,” said Vijay Chauthaiwale, Head of BJP Foreign Affairs Department and one of the book’s editors.

The panel discussion was moderated by Manoj Ladwa, who led the research, analysis and messaging division of Modi’s election campaign in 2014, and included Shishir Bajoria, industrialist and BJP West Bengal leader, and Rahul Roy-Chaudhry, Senior Fellow for South Asia at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London.

They were all in agreement that India’s diplomacy under Modi had got a sharper edge to propel the country towards the status of a “diplomatic superpower”.

“It speaks volumes that British Prime Minister Theresa May chose India for her first bilateral visit outside Europe. Prime Minister Modi is the best ambassador India has,” said Acting Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Dinesh Patnaik.
