United Artists (UA) is an American film and television entertainment studio. The studio was founded in 1919 by D. W. Griffith, Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks, with the intention of controlling their own interests rather than depending upon the powerful commercial studios.
An incarnation of United Artists formed in November 2006 under a partnership between producer/actor Tom Cruise and his production partner, Paula Wagner, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Paula Wagner left the studio on August 14, 2008. Cruise owned a small stake in the studio until late 2011. In 2014, MGM acquired controlling interest in Mark Burnett and Roma Downey's entertainment companies One Three Media and Lightworkers Media, resulting in another relaunch of United Artists.
UA was incorporated as a joint venture on February 5, 1919, by four of the leading figures in early Hollywood: Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, and D. W. Griffith. Each held a 20% stake, with the remaining 20% held by lawyer William Gibbs McAdoo. The idea for the venture originated with Fairbanks, Chaplin, Pickford, and cowboy star William S. Hart a year earlier as they were traveling around the U.S. selling Liberty bonds to help the World War I effort. Already veterans of Hollywood, the four film stars began to talk of forming their own company to better control their own work as well as their futures.
United can refer to:
The James Bond series focuses on a fictional British Secret Service agent created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming, who featured him in twelve novels and two short-story collections. Since Fleming's death in 1964, eight other authors have written authorised Bond novels or novelizations: Kingsley Amis, Christopher Wood, John Gardner, Raymond Benson, Sebastian Faulks, Jeffery Deaver, William Boyd and Anthony Horowitz. The latest novel is Trigger Mortis by Anthony Horowitz, published in September 2015. Additionally Charlie Higson wrote a series on a young James Bond, and Kate Westbrook wrote three novels based on the diaries of a recurring series character, Moneypenny.
The character has also been adapted for television, radio, comic strip, video games and film. The films are the longest continually running and the third-highest-grossing film series to date, which started in 1962 with Dr. No, starring Sean Connery as Bond. As of 2016, there have been twenty-four films in the Eon Productions series. The most recent Bond film, Spectre (2015), stars Daniel Craig in his fourth portrayal of Bond; he is the sixth actor to play Bond in the Eon series. There have also been two independent productions of Bond films: Casino Royale (a 1967 spoof) and Never Say Never Again (a 1983 remake of an earlier Eon-produced film, Thunderball).

United Artists logo History
Here is the logos of one of the most historic studios of all time. Any logos that I couldn't find were replaced with still images, in some cases I had to use watermarked videos, because that was all that was available. Logos and footage are owned by United Artists Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and MGM Holdings Inc.
Specifically requested by director David Gordon Green for his film "Undertow" (2004).
...my LEAST favorite of the UA Logos, plastered over the old UA logo on the DVD release of "The Apartment" (1960)
I like this intro from United Artists. This one uses the original music included, unlike one that is posted somewhere using the 1994 theme.
A new year, a new logo to tackle! See if you can spot the errors in the video! I made plenty because I am working with a new editing platform. W H O O P S! Welcome to episode 8 of the Logo Corner. Today we are going to discuss MGM's counterpart, United Artists. The history of United Artists is an extended fugue of events, all involving conflict, turbulence, and Hollywood drama. The logos, however, are even more fascinating. From the hexagon to the paperclip and swoosh, United Artists' logos evolved in a rather interesting fashion. Join me in this sojourn into the world of United Artists, the T of Wonder, and magnates stealing film and television libraries. Thanks for your patience, everyone. Hope you all enjoy the new format and the new editing platform! -------------------------------...
