Two men have been charged with stealing over the theft of two life-saving defibrillator machines from a shopping centre in Brisbane.

Police have alleged the men, aged 18 and 22 respectively, stole the equipment from the Carindale shopping centre on September 5 before being identified following the release of CCTV footage to the public.

"One defibrillator has been recovered while detectives are making inquiries in relation to the outstanding unit," police said in a statement.

The men are due to appear in Holland Park Magistrates Court next month.
