Live coding (sometimes referred to as 'on-the-fly programming', 'just in time programming' and related term 'live programming') is a performing arts form and a creativity technique centred upon the use of improvised interactive programming. Live coding is often used to create sound and image based digital media, as well as light systems, dance and poetry, though is particularly prevalent in computer music, combining algorithmic composition with improvisation. Typically, the process of writing is made visible by projecting the computer screen in the audience space, with ways of visualising the code an area of active research. There are also approaches to human live coding in improvised dance. Live coding techniques are also employed outside of performance, such as in producing sound for film or audio/visual work for interactive art installations. Also, the interconnection through a network makes possible to realize this practice networked in group. The figure of live coder is who performs the act of live coding.

Kat Von D (born Katherine von Drachenberg, March 8, 1982), is an American tattoo artist, model, musician, entrepreneur, and television personality. She is best known for her work as a tattoo artist on the TLC reality television show LA Ink, which premiered August 7, 2007, in the United States and ran for four seasons.
Kat Von D was born in Montemorelos, Nuevo León, Mexico. Her Seventh-day Adventist Church missionary parents, father René and mother Sylvia or Silvia Galeano, were born in Argentina, of German, Italian and Spanish descent, respectively. Von D has a sister, Karoline and a brother, Michael. She moved with her family to the Los Angeles area at age 4 and grew up in Colton, California. Von D was classically trained in piano beginning at age 6. She particularly appreciates Ludwig van Beethoven.
Kat Von D credits her grandmother, Clara von Drachenberg, as an inspiration for her in music and art, and the Latino culture of Los Angeles as a major influence on her tattoo art and style. She began listening to the Ramones, Misfits, and other punk rock bands at the age of 12. She got her first tattoo at 14 and quit school at 16 to become a tattoo artist.
Ableton Live is a software music sequencer and digital audio workstation for OS X and Windows. The latest major release of Live, Version 9, was released on March 5, 2013. In contrast to many other software sequencers, Live is designed to be an instrument for live performances as well as a tool for composing, recording, arranging, mixing and mastering. It is also used by DJs, as it offers a suite of controls for beatmatching, crossfading, and other effects used by turntablists, and was one of the first music applications to automatically beatmatch songs.
Ableton Live is written in C++, with the first version released in 2001 as commercial software. Contrary to popular belief, Live itself was not prototyped in Max/MSP, although most of the audio devices were.
Much of Live's interface comes from being designed for use in live performance as well as for production. As such the interface is more compact than most sequencers and clearly designed for use on a single screen. There are few pop up messages or dialogs. Portions of the interface are hidden and shown based on arrows which may be clicked to show or hide a certain segment (e.g. to hide the instrument/effect list or to show or hide the help box).

Live-coding one app in front of several hundred attendees is dangerous. Live-coding two apps? Crazy. Trying to get them to talk to each other on the same shared backend and get it all working in half an hour? Well, that's moving into "keeping a pet wolverine" level of crazy. There will be thrills! There will be chills! There won't be any actual wolverines, though.
