Jesus

Jesus (/ˈdʒiːzəs/; Greek: Ἰησοῦς Iesous; 7–2 BC to AD 30–33), also referred to as Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ, is the central figure of Christianity, whom the teachings of most Christian denominations hold to be the Son of God. Christians believe Jesus is the awaited Messiah (or Christ, the Anointed One) of the Old Testament.

Virtually all modern scholars of antiquity agree that Jesus existed historically, and historians consider the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) to be the best sources for investigating the historical Jesus. Most scholars agree that Jesus was a Galilean, Jewish rabbi who preached his message orally,was baptized by John the Baptist, and was crucified by the order of the Roman Prefect Pontius Pilate. In the current mainstream view, Jesus was an apocalyptic preacher and the founder of a renewal movement within Judaism, although some prominent scholars argue that he was not apocalyptic. After Jesus' death, his followers believed he was resurrected, and the community they formed eventually became the Christian church. The widely used calendar era, abbreviated as "AD" from the Latin "Anno Domini" ("in the year of our Lord") or sometimes as "CE", is based on the birth of Jesus. His birth is celebrated annually on December 25 as a holiday known as Christmas.

Jesus H. Christ

Jesus H. Christ is a common phrase used to refer to the religious figure Jesus Christ. It is a vulgarism and is uttered in anger, surprise, or frustration, though sometimes also with humorous intent. It is not used in the context of Christian worship.

History

The earliest use of the phrase is unknown, but in his autobiography, Mark Twain (1835-1910) observed that it was in general use even in his childhood. Twain refers to an episode from 1847, when he was working as a printer's apprentice; Smith (1994) tells the tale thus:

Smith suggests (1994:331-2) that "Jesus H. Christ" is a specifically American profanity, and indicates that at least in his experience it is uttered primarily by men.

The frequency of use of the expression – in books only – may be traced on the Google Ngram Viewer utility. It appears to have been vanishingly rare in books up to about 1930, and began a sharp ascent in frequency starting in about 1970 and continuing to the present day.

"Jesus" (also titled as "Jesus Christ" in liner notes, the US release and US iTunes download) is a song by alternative rock band Brand New. It is the second single from their 2006 album The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me. The single was released on 7" vinyl and CD in the United Kingdom on April 30, 2007. In the US, the single reached number 30 on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart.

A music video was directed by Moh Azima, but was never released. It surfaced on the internet in late 2009, but was quickly taken down at the request of Interscope and Brand New, although it can still be found on various websites

Aaron Aguilera (born February 28, 1977) is a Mexican American professional wrestler and actor best known as Jesús and Uno on World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), MTV's Wrestling Society X, All Japan Pro Wrestling as Zodiac and Lucha Libre USA as Lujo Esquire.

Career

World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment (1999, 2004-2005, 2007)

Aguilera initially appeared in the World Wrestling Federation with Christopher Daniels as Uno, one half of Los Conquistadores during the time Edge and Christian were masquerading as the team. He was rehired nearly 4 years later to perform under the gimmick of Jesús. As part of a kayfabe storyline, Jesús was accused of stabbing John Cena at a Boston, Massachusetts nightclub by order of Carlito Caribbean Cool. After Cena defeated Carlito for the WWE United States Championship, Jesús attacked Cena several times in the next couple of weeks, finally hitting him in the kidney with Cena's own chain, temporarily sidelining him. In reality, Cena required a break from WWE while he was out of the country filming The Marine.

"Jesus" is the twenty-eighth single by Japanese musical artist Gackt. It was released on December 4, 2008.

Summary

"Jesus" marked the beginning of Gackt's move back into music scene after a year, and the story of ЯR Project began in 2001 with release of the album Rebirth and Requiem et Reminiscence tour. The sequel to the story was the Gackt Visualive Tour Requiem et Reminiscence II 2008-2009 tour, which he explained in detail on his website through "Asakura's Report".

"Jesus" is first Gackt's release from his own label Dears, but still supported by Nippon Crown. A limited edition version with a PV was released on November 26, 2008 for members of Gackt's official fanclub, Dears, and the regular edition was released on December 3, 2008.

In 2009, Gackt in a French magazine interview stated that Metallica's song "One" influenced him for writing the song "Jesus", whose certain part is a homage to "One".

Edition (printmaking)

In printmaking, an edition is a number of prints struck from one plate, usually at the same time. This is the meaning covered by this article. This may be a limited edition, with a fixed number of impressions produced on the understanding that no further impressions (copies) will be produced later, or an open edition limited only by the number that can be sold or produced before the plate wears. Most modern artists produce only limited editions, normally signed by the artist in pencil, and numbered as say 67/100 to show the unique number of that impression and the total edition size.

Original or reproduction?

An important and often confused distinction is that between editions of original prints, produced in the same medium as the artist worked (e.g., etching, or lithography), and reproduction prints (or paintings), which are photographic reproductions of the original work, essentially in the same category as a picture in a book or magazine, though better printed and on better paper. These may be marketed as "limited editions" with investment potential (which is rarely realized), and even signed and numbered by the artist. Some knowledge is often required to tell the difference.
