OG, O.G., or Og may refer to:
Da Bulldogs, formerly united as Ed O.G. and Da Bulldogs, is a hip-hop group from Boston, Massachusetts. Its members have included Ed O.G., T-Nyne, Game (formerly Smooth Ice Gee and now Get-em-Gee), DJ Cruz, Bulletproof Brett, Mr. Muff, Slim Dog, Shawn Booker, Lorenzo, Bruzer, Mo, Tyrone, Money 1, K. Diamond, Dream Nefra, and Joe. Most of these performers are referenced on the song "Feel Like A Nut" on the album Life of a Kid in the Ghetto. T-Nyne and DJ Cruz were originally from the group Fresh to Impress / FTI Crew (DJ Cruz, Jizzy Blow, Slick Rick, and Spoonie T), which merged with Ed O.G. to form Ed O.G. and Da Bulldogs.
Ed O.G and Da Bulldogs was signed to Mercury Records until 1993, at which point the members pursued separate music careers.
Da Bulldogs released a 12" single in February 2001 called "Bounce It/Livin' It Up". This was followed by a CD in 2003 called Almost Famous. The single was distributed by Landspeed Records during their bankruptcy, but went into a second round of domestic and overseas distribution. Almost Famous was distributed on Da Bulldogs' independent hip-hop label Needlepoint Entertainment, and featured T-Nyne, Get-em-Gee, Bulletproof Brett, and Edo G. The promotional 12" single "Livin' It Up" was distributed at a Ja Rule performance before his release of the same name and was performed live by Bell Biv Devoe. It was played on Jam'n 94.5 WJMN (FM) by G Spin.
Edward Anderson (born November 27, 1970) is a hip-hop artist from Boston, Massachusetts, United States, better known by his stage names Ed O.G. and Edo G.. Although not widely known in the mainstream, Ed O.G. has a cult following in Boston, and an international fanbase.
Born in Roxbury—a working class, predominantly black neighborhood in Boston, Massachusetts. Anderson then known as Ed Rock started his career in the late 1980s at age 15, in a crew called F.T.I. (Fresh To Impress). They had a song called "Suzi Q" on "Boston Goes Def!" Vinyl LP compilation released in 1986. Three years later, with the help of New York's legendary Awesome 2 duo (Teddy Ted and Special K) formed Ed O.G and Da Bulldogs in late 1989. He released his first album in 1991 with his group Da Bulldogs, titled Life of a Kid in the Ghetto. The album included the song "Be a Father to Your Child," which received airplay on local Boston radio stations, and "I Got To Have It", which was sampled later by Mary J. Blige on the track "Ooh!". The group was dropped from Mercury Records in 1993.
Duval Clear (born December 4, 1966), known better by his stage name Masta Ace, is an American rapper and record producer from Brownsville, Brooklyn. He appeared on the classic 1988 Juice Crew posse cut "The Symphony". He is noted for his high level of rapping skill and for influencing other MCs, including Eminem.
Clear graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1988, after meeting Marley Marl in 1987 during his summer break. Ace made his recording debut as on the Hip Hop posse-cut "The Symphony", along with fellow Juice Crew members Craig G, Kool G Rap and Big Daddy Kane, released on Marley Marl's In Control album. The album also featured two additional Ace tracks, "Keep Your Eyes on the Prize" and "Simon Says". In 1989, he released his first solo single, "Together" b/w "Letter to the Better". His debut album, Take a Look Around, was released through Marl's Cold Chillin' label in 1990, featuring production from Marl and DJ Mister Cee. The album featured two minor hit singles in "Music Man" and "Me & The Biz", the latter being a track with Ace's impersonation of Biz Markie, rather than a duet as previously thought the song would be.
Peter Phillips (born June 21, 1970), better known by his stage name Pete Rock, is an American record producer, DJ and rapper. He rose to prominence in the early 1990s as one half of the critically acclaimed group Pete Rock & CL Smooth. After the duo went their separate ways, Rock continued with a solo career that has garnered him worldwide respect, though little in the way of mainstream success. Along with groups such as Stetsasonic, Gang Starr, A Tribe Called Quest and The Roots, Rock played a major role in the merging of elements from jazz into hip hop music (also known as jazz rap). He is widely recognized as one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time, and is often mentioned alongside DJ Premier, RZA and J Dilla as one of the mainstays of 1990s East Coast hip hop production. Pete Rock is also the older brother and younger cousin, respectively, of rappers Grap Luva and the late Heavy D.
Pete Rock was born in The Bronx, New York, the sixth of seven children born to Jamaican immigrant parents. His family moved to Mount Vernon, New York when he was seven years old. During high school, he met his future recording partner CL Smooth. According to Rock, his father was also a part-time DJ who had an impressive record collection. Rock would often accompany his father to a cricket club called Wembley in The Bronx and watch as he spun records for the guests. His first job was as a paperboy, in his neighborhood.
