Nomans Land (also mapped "No Man's Land" or "No Mans Land" or "No Man's island") is an uninhabited island 612 acres (2.477 km²) in size, located in the town of Chilmark, Dukes County, Massachusetts. It is situated about three miles (5 km) off the southwest corner of the island of Martha's Vineyard.
The island was used by the United States Navy as a practice bombing range from 1943-1996. In 1998, the Navy transferred the island to the United States Fish and Wildlife Service for use as an unstaffed wildlife refuge. Due to safety risks from unexploded ordinance and its value as a pristine habitat, the island is closed to all public use.
In 1602, from the voyage of the Concord (of Dartmouth) arriving at Cape Cod on May 15, 1602, Captain Bartholomew Gosnold had named the small island "Martha's Vineyard" after his eldest daughter, Martha; however, the name was later transferred to the larger island nearby, northeast of Nomans Land.
"No Man's Land" is a single by Billy Joel. It was the third single from his 1993 album River of Dreams. The song is about the growth of suburbia and its negative environmental and social aspects. It presumably refers somewhat specifically to Long Island (the line about "lots more to read about Lolita and suburban lust" is an indirect reference to Amy Fisher). It was the first song performed on Late Show with David Letterman in August 1993.
All songs written by Billy Joel.
Joel often opened concerts on the 1994 River of Dreams Tour with "No Man's Land".
No Man's Land is an absurdist play by Harold Pinter written in 1974 and first produced and published in 1975. "A large room in a house in North West London" on a summer night and the following morning.
Hirst is an alcoholic upper-class litterateur who lives in a grand house presumed to be in Hampstead, with Foster and Briggs, respectively his purported amanuensis and man servant (or apparent bodyguard), who may be lovers. Spooner, a "failed, down-at-heel poet" whom Hirst has "picked up in a Hampstead pub" and invited home for a drink, becomes Hirst's house guest for the night; claiming to be a fellow poet, through a contest of at least-partly fantastic reminiscences, he appears to have known Hirst at university and to have shared mutual male and female acquaintances and relationships. The four characters are named after cricket players.
"Land" was a one-off charity single released in August 1993, credited to (and in the following order) Midnight Oil, Daniel Lanois, Hothouse Flowers, Crash Vegas, and The Tragically Hip. All five artists were part of that year's Another Roadside Attraction tour.
The CD release credits the authorship of the track to Jim Moginie, Rob Hirst, Peter Garrett, Gord Downie, Daniel Lanois and The Tragically Hip. However, as officially registered with ASCAP and BMI, the composition of "Land" is credited to Downie, Garrett, Lanois and Liam Ó Maonlaí. It was recorded in Calgary, with Lanois producing.
The song protests the logging industry practice of clearcutting in the rainforests of British Columbia. Issued as a single in Australia, "Land" peaked at #63.
Land is a two disc compilation album by Patti Smith, released on March 19, 2002, on Arista Records.Land contains a collection of recordings from her eight previous albums on the first disc, along with B-sides and unreleased songs on the second disc. The album ranked number eight in Mojo's "Best Box Sets & Compilations of 2002". It is dedicated to the memory of Richard Sohl.
"Tomorrow" on Disc Two is unlisted.
In mathematics, an arithmetic progression (AP) or arithmetic sequence is a sequence of numbers such that the difference between the consecutive terms is constant. For instance, the sequence 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 … is an arithmetic progression with common difference of 2.
If the initial term of an arithmetic progression is and the common difference of successive members is d, then the nth term of the sequence (
) is given by:
and in general
A finite portion of an arithmetic progression is called a finite arithmetic progression and sometimes just called an arithmetic progression. The sum of a finite arithmetic progression is called an arithmetic series.
The behavior of the arithmetic progression depends on the common difference d. If the common difference is:
Computation of the sum 2 + 5 + 8 + 11 + 14. When the sequence is reversed and added to itself term by term, the resulting sequence has a single repeated value in it, equal to the sum of the first and last numbers (2 + 14 = 16). Thus 16 × 5 = 80 is twice the sum.
Kitty Wilde is a fictional character from the Fox musical comedy-drama series Glee. The character is portrayed by actress Becca Tobin, and appeared for the first time during the first episode of the fourth season, "The New Rachel", first broadcast on September 13, 2012. Kitty was introduced as a bully and a member of the McKinley High cheerleader squad who slushies the newest members of the Glee club, Marley Rose and Wade "Unique" Adams, and serves as the new teen antagonist for the season. As the season progressed, she joins the glee club and becomes Marley's worst enemy, but, it is later shown that Kitty also has a soft side. Her harshness and cruelty seems to be greatly lessened during the fifth and sixth season, as she is seen becoming a better person, though she still acts rudely in general most of the time.
Kitty was initially a recurring character in the fourth season, but was promoted to the main cast during the fifth season before being demoted to the recurring cast again in the sixth and final season.

I've been walking through your streets,
Where all you money's earning,
Where all your biulding's crying,
And clueless neckties working,
Revolving fake lawn houses,
Housing all your fears,
Desensitized by TV,
overbearing advertising,
God of consumerism,
And all your crooked pictures,
Looking good, mirrorism,
Filtering information,
For the public eye,
Designed for profiteering,
Your neighboor, what a guy.
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM,
Every time you drop the bomb,
You kill the god your child has born.
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM.
Modern globalization,
Coupled with condemnations,
Unnecessary death,
Matador corporations,
Puppeting your frustrations,
With the blinded flag,
Manufacturing consent
Is the name of the game,
The bottom line is money,
Nobody gives a fuck.
4000 hungry children leave us per hour
from starvation,
while billions spent on bombs,
create death showers.
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM,
Every time you drop the bomb,
You kill the god your child has born.
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM
BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM
Why, why, why, why must we kill, kill, kill, kill, our own, own, own, own kind...
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM,
Every time you drop the bomb,
You kill the god your child has born.
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM
BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM
Every time you drop the bomb.
