This March I will be flying a total of 13,800 miles. I think I’m going to need a good travel pillow.
It needs to be comfortable and compact. The simple pill shape I landed on offers support in various sleeping positions, and it fits nicely into a carryon. The sweatshirt fleece covers are removable and machine-washable. The stitch patterns give the pillows structure and style.

The removable, machine-washable covers are constructed of cotton duck fabric. The internal cushions are stuffed with shredded upholstery foam. Super comfy and durable.

I needed a space to sketch, sew, surf, etc. So I built a table.
The legs have integrated foot rests and are constructed of black steel pipe and fittings. A cord cage mounted to the bottom side of the solid hickory tabletop keeps cords at bay.

These small bowls were thrown on a wheel and fired using contemporary raku methods, which consist of high-temperature glaze firing and reduction.
The dark exterior is the natural color of the clay after being fired, having taken in carbon during reduction. The combustible material used for these pieces was saw dust.
With raku, the end results are often unpredictable due to the erratic behavior of the glaze during firing and reduction — the slight cracks in the white glaze and the color shift in the gold glaze exemplify this unpredictability.
Small-space living requires versatile furniture. The large 8″ casters allow the table to roll smoothly along carpeted surfaces, which is helpful when the room is frequently rearranged to accommodate various activities happening within the same space — dinner, yoga, movie night, vacuuming, etc.
The table’s short 10″ stature keeps the room from feeling cluttered. Paired with floor cushions, the table is a comfortable height for floor seating. If we’re entertaining, the 40×40″ surface will fit four.
The tabletop is solid hickory, and the casters are painted steel.
